People saying that Jammi doesn't understand trans issues when he's a trans man with a literal Ph.D on trans issues is absolutely hilarious. It reminds me of this time I was discussing gender inclusive language with someone and they said I "had no idea what I was talking about". I have a master's degree in Language and Education. :)
I have a Bachelor's in Computer Science, and I can confirm, gender isn't binary. That's about as far as my field can take me though. truly is hilarious to watch the dunning-kruger effect in action though
Me this morning being told by someone that I didn’t know what I was talking about when I told them that Asperger’s and autism are now under the same diagnosis. Maybe I have no idea what I’m talking about, after being autistic for 30 years and doing a PhD in autism research, but I doubt it 😂
I have a PhD in biology, and I still get people trying to explain biological sex to me. Even better are the Creationists who try to "debunk" evolution. It's always a wild ride.
came out as Asexual and Trans to my best friend and my entire friend group today, they're all very supportive. you were the one who gave me the confidence to come out, so thank you Jamie update: my best friend came out as non-binary lesbian
I'm thinking of coming out as Pansexual to my best friend & friend group too 😅 just not sure when Update: I came out to some of my cousins and they're very supportive!

I wonder if maybe that person just hasn't realised that they are non-binary? I used to think no one really experienced gender and it was all made up, until I realised that actually I'm non-binary and other people do experience gender 😅
@@Scarygothgirl I’m just convinced that gender is confusing and the world would be better if everyone was just genderless and vibing. Like, I was born a girl (still identify as female) but, if someone referred to me using he/him pronouns, yes I’d be confused, but I don’t think I’d care? I prefer she/her or they/them (because pretty much everyone accepts they/them) but I just don’t really think about my gender? (I’ve looked into the idea of being agender or non-binary or something like that, and I’m even more confused now than I was before.)
@@RedBanana_ Heyo! If you are confused, know you can always ask if you want help, people are so sweet around here ! But I get your point, maybe you could be pronoun indifferent ?
Sounds like me before i accepted nonbinary identities and realized the reason i didn't want to accept them was because of internalized transphobia and thinking "no one actually feels like the gender they were assigned at birth"... Oh boy how the turntables
But... Conservatives don't believe prisons should be safe! To them, prison is where you go to be a slave and get sexually assaulted, and to them just having a gram of weed or too many parking tickets makes you DESERVE IT! "Safe place for women" yeah I can't even either.
i mean i loove jamie i watched few of his videos without knowing he was a trans guy and i almost caught myself saying "she" from his old photos. and back to present , i literally cringed so hard when they misgendered him... im a cis girl , but i felt his uncomfortable vibe .. like
Ad hominem argument, also known as 'whataboutism'. Classic way to distract from the actual real point of the conversation. Jamie proper called them out.
Not trans related, but I have a funny story. In my P.E class today, One of my firends said, "I like to classify as a Gamer Girl." And, I have horrible hearing and I LGBTQ+, so I heard, "I like to classify as a gay man." And we all laughed about it for another half hour😅😂
I’m questioning my gender so I specifically don’t put my pronouns in my bio, because when people assume my pronouns they usually pick the ones I like. It’s a way of making myself feel good without it fully committing-
That's completely valid, pronouns can be hard to figure out. As an afab enby, i don't like "she" or "lady" or anything like that, but i hate it less than "he" and "sir" , but i REALLY don't feel comfy with "they" . I know it's the easiest enby pronoun for most people to accept, but i can't stand it. I kinda like some neo pronouns, and also the old English gender neutral pronoun which starts with an "a" ( i don't remember the rest of it, it's been awhile) but those would require me to explain it to everyone and I'm socially anxious enough as is, and i just can't handle that right now. This is a long winded way of saying i support you and send you love and hugs and hope things get better!
I feel you. I’m questioning and I think I like she and they. But if I tell people that, they are likely to just use she. I’m most comfortable when both are used interchangeably about the same number of times
I am a straight cis girl but I like to watch you jamie. You taught me not to follow the gender stereotypes. I had an argument with my literature teacher because she said that woman should be fragile ,quiet and polite and to use their feminity because that's what attract boys.
Bleh, even reading that made me wanna puke, it's such a gross stereotype. The amount of crap that's hurled at afab people and trans women takes so much strength to endure and conquer. While cis het white guys biggest complaint is that people stand up to their bigotry and misogyny or won't date them. Rant over. And yes, I know, "not all cishet men" put down your torches.
@Backtothefuture123 You would think that a literature teacher would know how tough it is for women in the writing industry but I guess your teacher is just plain uneducated on this topic.
@I can't think of a name isn't that what i said? That cishet men act like that, and that it's not all of them that do? So it's not a specific number??? Or any number? I'm failing to see your point?
I have three older brothers, and been a gamer all my life, and used to work in professional kitchens. As such, I have spent a ton of time around boys and men. Your teacher does not understand what boys like at all. Which makes sense, because clearly your teacher doesn't understand girls. Likely, she doesn't understand any people. And possibly not even literature. Good for you for trying to find better role models! Jamie is a good man to watch. If they are things we don't like about ourselves, its always worthwhile to consider working on it *if its healthy to do so.* But being quiet, fragile, and polite is only worth while if that is who you are deep down. But if you're loud, strong, and/or rude, pretending to be otherwise will take to much of your energy. It just ain't worth it to pretend to be someone other than who you are. That's something a lot of folks don't understand. But I'd wager it is something that Jamie - and possibly many other trans folk - truly understands.
Person: Jammi has no idea what he's talking about!!!! Jammi: *laughs* I literally have a PHD on the subject. I'm so glad you're such a nice and positive person. It makes these messages a lot less terrifying.
@Boo_123 Of course a phd doesn't make you smart. A phd only proves that someone studied a certain subject, got tested on it, wrote a whole ass exam and passed, proving that they know what they are talking about. If his Phd was about anything else, I'd consider the point you're making. But since his PHD isn't on engineering, but ON LGBT+ subjects, I will trust his opinion ON LGBT+ content more than some random internet person's "opinion" who's basing their "educated knowledge" on twitter hate posts. Which mention less sources and the people behind them have less education on the subject. (And generally exist to spread hatred btw.) About defining gender..... Well, you don't need a PHD to get informed, that you are right about. Jammi sometimes links research articles in the video description. That is, if you want to look at them. Or you could look some up yourself, to get a different perspective. That would be your choice. There is just one thing, I ask for. Please respect other people's pronouns. I don't know what your gender is. But you wouldn't be pleased either, if someone just misgendered you on purpose. You don't have to agree with me. Just consider it.
Would love to see you do a video on intersexuality! I feel like intersex people don't get enough love or understanding in or outside of the LGBT+ community, and trans and intersex people often have a lot in common
@@cheddarcheese8577 some people are born with physical sexual characteristics (eg hormones, sex chromosomes, genitalia etc) which don't fit into the boxes of "male" and "female" sex. It's an umbrella term with covers a whole host of conditions, but some examples might be someone with XY chromosomes and testosterone, who you'd classically expect to be a man, but whose body doesn't respond to male hormones so doesn't develop male. Or someone with XXY (rather than XX or XY) chromosomes. Intersex people are included in the LGBT+ community and face (medical) discrimination, and sometimes dysphoria similar to trans people.
My favourite is when people argue that it’s way too complicated. Sexuality and gender is not a geography test. If you don’t know what someone’s identity means, ask
As a guy who is pretty new to the whole LGBT stuff, I can say that it occasionally, despite my good will to learn, it feels so much more complected than the Male/Female binary world I've lived in until now. Some times some identities like non-,bionary, or demi girl, or pan sexual, seem so complicated and out of the ordinary that they almost feel made up to me, a bunch of leftist BS. I try not to think this way, but sometimes I unconsciously invalidate the identities of Those people...
@@pits.893 I totally get that. The way I like to think about it is that since gender and sexuality are spectrums, it wouldn’t really make sense for there to be a finite amount of them. And really, people who identify as such will likely be totally cool with explaining what their identity means. In fact they’ll appreciate you taking an interest.
@@pits.893 demi-girl and demi-boy fall under the non-binary umbrella. Same with agender, bigender, and trigender. I can give you a link to the non-binary Wikipedia that has links to these identities to help you understand if you want! I can also possibly try and explain to you some of the differences in the m-spec sexualities (multi spectrum) like the 4 main ones of bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, and Omnisexual.
That second one is called the toupee fallacy, it comes from the argument being of the same form as "I can always tell if someone is wearing a toupee because every toupee I've ever seen is obviously a toupee" without thinking for a few seconds about why that doesn't work.
It is! My cis boyfriend is bi but we joke around about how gay we are together and for each other all the time. He 100% sees me as a guy, and loves me regardless. That's how a healthy relationship between a trans and cis person looks
I don't understand how you can tell someone you're going to send them to a place where they would be killed for simply existing and then claim you're the sensible one.
9:50 I really thought you were going to say 'this might seem like a flex, but I have a beard' (since they misgendered you), but 'I have a PhD in trans issues' works too :D
"SuperLesbian" just sounds like a superhero name of a woman who can make any woman, no matter her sexual orientation, fall in love with her with a single eye-contact... Sad story because the SuperLesbian just wishes to find a girlfriend who will genuinely love her, and not just fall in love with her because of her power... She knows she can make any woman fall for her, but all she wants is true, real, pure love. So she decides to rip off her eyes ☠️

cause sometimes people don't have their pfp as their actual face and who knows what the gender of someone it when they are called "youuocbf89" it literally just makes sense for the internet.
It's not bad in the slightest. It shows that you want to be clear on how people refer to you, that you want to normalize pronouns, and how clearly you want to stop assuming gender.
tbh my brain honestly crashed every time I was trying to understand what people were trying to say with their tweets, they didn't make sense at all and they were rude and thoughtless XD

I just want to share how I found Jammi's channel. A mother of a trans boy was telling me "It makes so much sense that he is trans because he was always very good with computers and roboters and it would be weird for a girl to be that good in such things." For me whose a woman who studies computer science and experiences a lot of sexism this was like a slap. So I wanted to know if that's really what being trans is about. Thus I found this channel and have learnt that it is not. I'm glad that I informed myself.
I love how this person is acting like they're so much stronger and more educated but I've noticed a spelling, grammar, or punctuation mistake in every single tweet

The "A lot of us are non-binary" one reminds me of when my mom said "We're all a little trans" / "I don't feel 100% like a girl" She is a girl but seems uneducated on trans things. Doesn't even apologise after saying something (unintentionally) offensive
I don’t know your pronouns so I’m not gonna assume, but you’re literally damn valid and I’m proud of you for being yourself, no matter hat that mean to you
hearing about you being a trans man with a PhD is honestly very comforting. i want to get a PhD in my field, im going into my last semester of my undergrad, but idk what it is that just makes me super stressed about going into a PhD program as a trans man?? just dysphoria things i guess lmao.
There are multiple trans people doing PhDs in my department and who I know in other facilities, if that helps? Depends where you are in the world but academia tends to be a little more liberal and accepting than many sectors
The worst part is that they intentionally used grammar that would exaggerate the emphasis on _pronouns_ as much as possible. This made it especially ear grating

"Transphobes have some sort of radar..." That would explain how a dude with several thousand watchers on DeviantArt managed to find my account with about a few hundred watchers and leave some transphobic and aphobic (and anti-LGBT in general) comments on some of my posts.
I’m so tired of people trying to justify their transphobia by saying trans people are taking away something from women and girls. It’s like saying we can’t care about homeless people in other countries until we deal with homelessness in our country first. The either/or mentality just continues to separate people everywhere. It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.
@@Jaybird196 he’s an ethical nightmare tbh. Falsely accusing someone of being a ‘pedo’ because he said something against Musk, stealing artwork on Twitter, transphobia and potentially starting a coup in Bolivia is just the start.
Little correction for scientific accuracy, human sex has never been binary at any point. Sex is bimodal, IE: bimodal sex distribution., if sex was binary then hormone treatment would never work (that's just one example)
I really appreciate Jamie and Shaaba so * so* much. This channel is so heart warming, and even in videos covering more serious topics they remain about as polite and respectful as they can. That’s crazy hard to do. They’re probably two of my favorite people on the internet and I’m so happy to have found this channel. One of my friends recently came out as nonbinary, so I wanted to understand and get to know people who have gone through similar things (misgendering, searching for/lack of identity, and such. I know there’s a big difference between being trans and nonbinary). I’m a little nervous about asking them questions since I know how taxing or frustrating it can be, but I wanted to do more to understand them. Came to learn, stayed for the absolutely adorable, fantastic, incredible, wholesomeness Jamie offers to his viewers and subscribers! Thank you, and big hugs!

2:42 Gender stereotypes are the reason a good number of non-binary people try to present androgynous. As a non binary genderfluid person, I have to look androgynous unless I want to be misgendered. If I present masculine, I’m called a boy. If I present feminine, I’m called a girl. I present androgynous BECAUSE of gender stereotypes, so that people don’t assume my gender, not because I’m trying to enforce gender stereotypes on others.
When I grow up (I'm actually much older than you LOL), I hope to be as good-natured about things people do and say to hurt me. You are an inspiration, Jammidodger!
Yeah I was just talking about your channel on twitter to some insane transphobic people when the ACLU announced the transphobic laws were shut down in the US. Hey Jamie! You have really helped me to understand trans people and to come to terms with my own sexuality. You won't see this, but I hope you still know we appreciate you. Thank you.
Okay, I must say... I found you a few days ago, and I can't stop watching! Your kindness and patience gives me so much comfort, but most importantly - I learned a lot! To tell you the truth, I was looking for someone who could teach me more - I am a teacher myself, and many of my students struggle with being transgender in our country. There are almost no resources on how to support them. For instance, unless a doctor notifies the school that someone is in the process of transitioning, the teachers are allowed to deadname that person. The kids are often the ones burdened with trying to educate everyone, and I think this is just cruel. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing your journey - I know it must have been really tough, but from what I can see you've helped and inspired so many people to unapologetically be who they are. I'd love that for my students. I'm staying here if you would have me. Lots of love!
They misgendered Jamie so much on that one tweet at 9:21 that it was downright painful to see. I quite literally had to read it out loud and change the pronouns around to tolerate it. It was _that_ bad. Why do people do this?!
Twitter is one of the most transphobic platforms I have used... But yeah, some of them are so awful it's funny 😩🤚 (of course there are also many wonderful people on there too!)
Idk, I can report transphobia on Twitter and usually it's taken down. On Facebook, I don't think I've ever seen a comment I've reported taken down. But I know folks who have gotten temp fb bans for calling someone a "silly potato." So.
@@Snuzzled fair enough, I don't really use Facebook. It's kinda stupid that it doesn't let you report things like that... But some good news I suppose is that Instagram now has pronouns!! So we are slowly getting there with inclusive platforms.
@@adonkin730 yeah it's really bad. Sometimes when I see transphobia on Facebook that I know won't get taken down, I hop over to Twitter and report transphobia there because I know it'll actually get taken seriously.
Jamie I really envy your strength in dealing with the dipshits on Twitter, especially the posters who go off on you personally. I want to thank you for changing my life, I was a transphobe (not hardcore but just "didn't get it"). A few months ago after a few lively discussions my 19 year old son who has a friend who may be a trans person my son challenged me to open my closed mind. I ran to RUclips and found you, and my eyes have certainly been opened. I watched a bunch of your videos and finally understand, you are just trying to live your most happy life, like everyone else, and there is nothing at all wrong with that. I wish more people who are transphobes could just understand that, there is no need for the hate that people spew.
3:46 that sounds like the type of person who would burn someone's house down and say "Destruction of property? Look at atomic bombs, that's destruction of property!!"
“Sex has been binary for 1.2 billion years.” No, sex has never been binary, it’s just that we as imperfect humans didn’t understand that for a long time.
when you said you have a PhD in trans issues, I clapped and my family looked at me weird (I have headphones on) This is my first time on your channel and I'm proud of you :)
Frustrating how he says things like "I don't understand how people can be transphobic" and people seem to think that means confused. Like no, he probably just doesn't want to go around calling people stupid.
I learn so much when I watch one of your videos, Jammi! You truly create a safe space for people to learn, both about the trans community in specific (and the LGBTQA+ community in general) and about themselves. Please keep doing you! Mama Lynx loves you and all the spuds!
After the part where you read all of the hashtags, I got an add that began with a blank screen and nothing but the word ‘stop’. Applies, considering the number.
My step dad always makes fun of me for how I look. My hair is short now so he keeps saying I look like a guy. And he makes fun of my weight constantly. The other day he called me a hippo and then we were arguing about Trans rights ( he's transphobic). Although I am not trans he asked me if I figured out whether I was male or female. This really hurt me because I didn't like the fact that he used it as an insult. And that is not okay. Someone's gender or transition to said gender should not be an insult or be used as one.
Im a trans girl (before any treatment or even coming out) with long hair and my mother says "gosh you look like a girl". Im like yay! Then she continues "go get changed" and im like onoooo I havent listened to her telling me to do stuff in years cuz my respect for her is nowhere to be found, but like, at least i look like a girl? As a fellow trans person, I will say that finding a name is a journey that you are allowed to take your time on. You are free to forever stick to your first decided preferred name, or to try out different names to see how you feel about specific names. I have friend who use multiple names, using specific ones based on how they feel their gender has swayed that day. With finding a name, I wish you all the best with that! However, as a Jaiden, I will be narcissistic and say that I love the name Jaiden. /lh
Hi Ash! Haven't seen you in awhile. Come help me pick a trans flag color coded outfit for pride month. I wanna know what you been up to Ash! Jaiden!! How ya doing? You look amazing, let's go show off that swag of yours around town. Cmon Jaiden, I'll treat you to some ice cream!
I dunno why but the audio on this video made it sound like there was a crackly static type noise in the background. It made me think there was something wrong with my headphones
I live in a country with absolutely zero tolerance for anyone, who has any other point of view than the one presented by the government. Which means basically that we have no abortion (not even if your child has no head or no lungs, you still need to give birth - wtaf), if you're gay, transgender or any other non-heterosexual person, you're basically fucked. Anyway, to the point, since people don't talk about gender, sexual identity here where i live, i am very thankful for your videos. I have learned a lot, you made me understand many issues that different people go through, and I feel very sorry for everyone, who suffered discrimination or violence. There's no excuse for being an asshole, even if it comes out of lack of knowledge. Thank you for bringing those topics in your videos. Lots of love from Poland ❤️
That first thing bothers me because 1. Just saying trans 2. Not knowing what pronouns are/not understanding how important they are 3. Spelling aesthetic like, "esthetic". Normally i wouldnt get too mad at a spelling error but like, this one specific instance just doesnt do. Idk how to explain it but it just feels wrong, unlike how most spelling errors make me feel. 4. How would pronouns be an aesthetic nightmare? Like how would it ruin an aesthetic, its literally a pronoun. An actual aesthetic nightmare is a sentence using no pronouns, and having a subject that gets mentioned many times. Heres an example: Trisha has beautiful hair. Trisha's hair is very colourful and styled nicely. Trisha is very good at hair styling, because it is Trisha's job. Chaotic Little Shit thinks that Trisha is very talented at hairstyling. See how terrible that sounds? You cant use "i" or "she" or "he or "it" or any other pronouns, and it sounds terrible. I remember having an entire year where we would do a thing once every week where we fix sentences by adding pronouns. It utterly baffles me as to how people dont know what pronouns are, considering how important it is to use them in the english language (not quite sure on other languages, as i dont speak them. I know in some languages many words change depending on the gender of the subject but im not sure if its the same thing)
That are very valid points! And the fact that if I remember right, it s said by Elon Musk. The father of a child I’ll never know how to pronounce the name. I mean, even using pronouns that are very not usual like Star or Hies is easier for me than try that-

We've all been there
You're still valid
same, but also my family watches my channel

@alascow I agree
If they are things we don't like about ourselves, its always worthwhile to consider working on it *if its healthy to do so.*
But being quiet, fragile, and polite is only worth while if that is who you are deep down.
@Boo_123 actually it shows he has more expertise in the area he has a PHD the fact that you call he a she also shows who is smarter
(And generally exist to spread hatred btw.)
About defining gender.....

@@cheddarcheese8577 some people are born with physical sexual characteristics (eg hormones, sex chromosomes, genitalia etc) which don't fit into the boxes of "male" and "female" sex.
The way I like to think about it is that since gender and sexuality are spectrums, it wouldn’t really make sense for there to be a finite amount of them. whew searching your own name on Twitter when you've got this big of a platform takes some serious balls man. not all of us are built like you lol
I have a Ph.D. in Biology. Sex has been anything but binary for over a billion years. Fungi can have a huge number of sexes, and it’s very common for fish to transition!
If trans frogs and fish can exist then why tf cant humans be trans without being bothered lol
My first binder came in the mail today!! I'm so excited!
“Sex has been binary for 1.2 billion years.” No, sex has never been binary, it’s just that we as imperfect humans didn’t understand that for a long time.
when you said you have a PhD in trans issues, I clapped and my family looked at me weird (I have headphones on)
This is my first time on your channel and I'm proud of you :)
Imagine calling him a girl when he has a low voice, beard, and identifies as a man.
Imagine calling a *King* a girl :0
@@TheaterCryptid that's what TheOneCode said
Frustrating how he says things like "I don't understand how people can be transphobic" and people seem to think that means confused. Like no, he probably just doesn't want to go around calling people stupid.
For me, it sounds like he genuinely doesn't understand why these people hate the idea of transgender (especially when it's hurting nobody)
Jamie how the hell can you manage to misgender yourself while reading out that tweet good lord you are one strong man and I’m jealous
I love how wholesome these comments always are. makes me so happy
Someone's gender or transition to said gender should not be an insult or be used as one.
sounds like my father-in-law. preacherman would poop masonry if he knew my spouse is NB.
Im a trans girl (before any treatment or even coming out) with long hair and my mother says "gosh you look like a girl". Im like yay!
Then she continues "go get changed" and im like onoooo
I havent listened to her telling me to do stuff in years cuz my respect for her is nowhere to be found, but like, at least i look like a girl? Yay
(I sometimes wear a hoodie folded into a skirt, is comfty n soft)
@@echiko4932 You should tell her "Jesus Christ has long hair, so why can't I have long hair?" Also, Jason Mamoa from Aquaman looks cool. Lot's of cool guys have long hair. (I hate having to use guys with long hair as an excuse to have long hair. Girls can have short and long hair, guys can have short and long hair, cis or trans)
I always prefer the @phobic reaction videos because i can use the debanking arguements. Especially the transophobic ones because I don't have much knowledge in the trans issues. Thank you Jammi for sharing all these with us and educating us, cis people!
Unrelated but I came out as genderfluid to my friend group today, instead of being unsupportive like I thought they would they helped me pick a new name! And also can people use the names Ash or Jaiden in the replies please those are the ones I am trying!
Hey Ash, that's really cool and I'm glad that your friends were supportive! I'm really proud of you for coming out, that's really hard, so good on you, Jaiden! Hope you're having a good day, and did you drink enough water today? 💗🤍💜🖤💙 (there's no better pink, sorry qwq)
Heyyy! I also recently came out as Genderfluid! I am glad you came to this conclusion Jaiden!!
Jaish?
I dunno why but the audio on this video made it sound like there was a crackly static type noise in the background. It made me think there was something wrong with my headphones
Now that you pointed it out... you re right... oh how annoying
WHY DID YOU HAVE TO MENTION THAT
“this may seem like a flex but... *I have a PHD* “
quote of the vid lol
A PhD in trans issues, no less. Such respect
Starting a sentence with 'and' my old English teacher wouldn't turn in her grave, she would corkscrew half way accross the Atlantic.
Person: he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. * he literally has a whole PhD *
That first thing bothers me because
1. Just saying trans
2. Not knowing what pronouns are/not understanding how important they are
Heres an example:
Trisha has beautiful hair.
I mean, even using pronouns that are very not usual like Star or Hies is easier for me than try that-
"This is a person who's part of the lgbt+ community and is known for being transphobic."
Does their name rhyme with Schmarielle Schmarcella?
What's their actual name so I can avoid them at all costs
"Arielle Scarcella"
I had a rough day today and your videos give me so much comfort. Thank you for continuing to make content!
I have learned so much from your videos! I was also not aware of a lot of details.
I’m „only“ an ally, but sending lots of love to the community 🥰
Well according to my mom, I don’t look human because I look androgynous, so........ she’d fit right in with these folks!
