I understand a slight counter vibration can cause shavings but for that amount to be made over a very short period seems unlikely. Im more keen to think the previous owner maybe didnt change the oil very often.
You get rod knock from bearings.....from oil starvation or old old oil. You could pull an injector off and drive for a year and have zero problems.....zero. it's not an "imbalance", it's scumberto and Chris dildoing that engine.
loose cam gear first dyno, 400hp on stock turbos and then drives it around on a incomplete tune meant for dyno numbers, that oil is darker than my jeeps oil after 5k miles. the rb put up a good fight id say

If the cam gear was an issue we would of heard it on the dyno.
We blamed the missfire\breaking up in it since it was an obvious mistake but even after tightening it the same missfire issue was present.
Had we had the oem coil packs we would of most likely still made clean pulls but we would of noticed a strange power band from the cam being off a few degrees and we would of gone back to it for that.
We have done way to many r35 coik pack kits to not know how they work. They literally plug in and work perfect. These didn't, you can hear all the crazy sounds they made in the video and it was a night and day difference with the oem ones back on.
Sucks it took so long to figure it out and that other issues got jumbled into it but the coik packs were the main issue the whole time.

Alfredo Martinez That’s not what happened at all. And Japanese owners don’t reverse mileage as intervals are checked annually via an inspector at Shaken and need to be reported bi-annually to insurance within Japan.
Reverse mileage happens, sure, but the moment it happens the car becomes Grade R and next to worthless at auction.
Most cars that have reversed ODO’s were done by an exporter/wrecker/someone at the landing port.
It's not the Japanese, it's some of the shady dealers that import them.

Hmmmm LEAN SPOTS in the tune, sorry Rudnik shouldnt of bought the "cheapest" GTR from Japan, thats why it was cheap the engine was going bad and the ex owner knew it and hid it til he sold it. Putting them turbos to their maximum caused this, LEAN SPOTS IN THE TUNE!!!!!
Just saying, that pop and bang tune isn't LEAN, they ADD fuel to the mixture and retard timing so that fuel detonates IN the exhaust. Yes it can blow your turbo, but I highly doubt this caused the rodknock. Probably needed an oil change and restored bottom end. New bearings and shit woulda done the trick. Dont give ruddy so much shit lol
The compression is good across the board i think if it was running that lean it would melt a piston and then it would loose compression? Maybe?

I changed my oil day one of getting my car and spark plugs just to find out 3rd cylinder is stripped now I'm gonna rip the motor and rebuild the whole thing edit even tho a stripped plug won't kill it but naw my gf has to be 100% that's y I'm going to rebuild her

Changing oil / filter, waiting for it to be warm before beating on it, not letting it hang on rev limiter, monitoring afr, is taking care of the motor, no mather if you push more air in it.
More air = more fuel, more fuel = more combustion = more heat = more things to go wrong, not doing the safeguard oiling mods, $5 oil filter, pulls on a basemap while it's missing.. Ruddy wasn't asking for it, he was begging for it.

No kidding. I’ve been there with my Evo 8 RS. Ended up costing me double trying to piece together an engine rather than just building it the first time.
Pull this engine, rebuild it with a set of rods and pistons, put the 25/30s on it. Back on the dyno in 10 days ready to make some power. GOT TO SELL ONE OF THE ROADSTERS
Should definitely rebuild instead of swap he wastes more money getting rid of spent parts (other brand new tranny he had that he swapped for the 1 he has now and it wasn't even broken)

So I'm assuming it wasn't worth paying the lower price, should have just gotten a cleaner one as a better platform. End of the day tho, it's a project car and shit happens. Like he said nothing you can do except move on and do what needs to be done

Running rich on deceleration was the last of that rb's issues, 2step on a stock motor if its a small nose crank is a more likely cause

And this is all after checking if the engine is too far gone or rebuildable. Ruddy's far from being a mcMaster Mechanic going to space, but he's got a better grip on reality when it comes to modding cars than 90% of you manchildren and he's got plenty of cars to prove that. Money+Time+Content=New engine

The Engine was already damaged since day one thats why the oil was super black and old thats what made the rodnock ill put money that it was already damaged before you even bought it
Probably would've been best to have given it the "go around" when first receiving it in the US... Given the fact that this was the CHEAPEST GTR he could find. Things like a compression test, leak down test, MULTIPLE oil changes. We all saw how old and nasty that oil it was shipped over with, in no way was one oil change going to flush that out.

The oil probably had stp witch that makes the noise go away now he did an oil change and ran for some miles and then got the rodnock who knows but still junk not jacks fault because chris when him self to check it out to japan before it got shipped 🤷🏻♂️

That oil looks like it has 20-30,000kms on it, if that oil really had 200kms on it, then someone in the past didn't ever change the oil, so the motor is sludged and probably has blocked oil galleries. I'm sure if you take the rocker covers off, it will be pitch black and have burnt oil flaking off.
So the 18 volt alternator killed the coils which killed the motor? Shocker

I feel like you should just get this engine re-done, with some upgrades, rather than buying a new one where you dont know the history. Shouldn't take too long to get the work done

MUDDASIK the colour of oil means nothing. Oil is black because it holds dirt in suspension but will not affect oils ability to lubricate

Brodey Dover the color of the oil wouldn’t mean anything if it had 5k miles on it and you were changing it but the color does matter if it’s only been 250 miles and the engine has rod knock

Check your fly wheel. If the bolts loosen up it sounds like rodknock has happened to me before
1. Even if you have the full 4.6L amount of oil in a R32/R33 GT-R, it still is not enough, Nissan addressed the issue in the R34 and they take 4.9L, this is why workshops in the know "overfill" r32/r33 GT-Rs and use thicker 20w-50 oil with full zinc protection.
2. As it has been pointed out in the past, it is hard to know how many km on your car as your car did not have certified km on the auction sheet.
3. Previous owner could have had this issue, just slapped new bearings in and sold the car.
Get the best insurance coverage and let Willy drive it, you'll be making money.
