    Such a refreshing change to hear someone link durability to the environment. Looking forward to Nnormal coming to the market.

    Brian is such a well informed interviewer. Gave Kilian the opportunity to inform the audience about the company and the product. I'm sure many of the listeners came away anxious to have the opportunity to lace up those shoes and give 'em a some test runs! Thank you to both of you!

    Zagama, Hardrock, Sierra Zinal, then UTMB in the same pair of shoes...those will be excellent tests for durability and the "1 shoes for all race types" scenario

    Not sure if these shoes are very good overall (technical zagama/long grueling hardrock) or Kilian is so insanely talented that in this stage of his career shoes don't even matter anymore...

      There's a well established consensus among coaches and pro athletes in sport, that specificity is key when it comes to training and gear. I'm skeptical about the idea of one shoe working on all kind of terrain and speed. And Killian would keep winning in Converse...

      knowing people that are very good suggest me that the shoes is less important than the good instinct on how to run and have a good footwork 😉

      I would say the latter. If you give me these shoes I will not finish hardrock on the podium 😂
      The dude is just a rockstar runner regardless of the shoe

    knowing killian as an athlete is one thing, maybe possibly everything for those who are new in trail specifically, or on roads..
    but knowing killian with a great depth of insight on the business side, damn, he different...

    9:10 I went to Decathlon and got shoes from the "walking" section. Ten times less expensive that ultra running stuff. The shoes have lasted for 2000km and still good for another 3000km. I wear them in "every" situation. And for only 15 Euro, best bang for the buck :) I'll check about the sustainability issue.

      You might be interested about Decathlon too... one of the very very few companies to continue operating in Russia since the war, and were only recently forced to close there against their will due to supply chain issues! Leroy Merlin is owned by the same family and they are taking advantage of the situation to actually expand in Russia! People in Poland had the mettle to actually boycott Decathlon and stage protests outside their stores!!

    There is no point wearing out wet weather mud lugs on dry hard ground and then trying to use them in the mud when the lugs have worn away. I can't see how one shoe can do all jobs and seasons. Once the tread has worn out, you need to buy another pair so nothing is saved really. You can only wear one pair at a time. This is the same as winter tyres for your car.

    • @FuckAdds
      @FuckAdds 2 года назад +1

      Well the sole specific for mud is indeed différent but I never got such lug and manage mud ok. The normal will be a good vibram sole that aims ok in most condition. Not hard to outoerform salomon crappy soles !
      By the way vibram let you resole, i did it with a vibram litebase megagrip and it rocks !

    • @vic6820
      @vic6820 2 года назад

      @@FuckAdds Nah, I still don't agree. I like a minimal lightweight shoe for summer dry ground and a shoe with lugs for winter mud. It doesn't matter how many pairs we have, we can only wear one at a time.

    • @FuckAdds
      @FuckAdds 2 года назад

      @@vic6820 i don t see disagreement here. Your preference is yours. Most trail runner don t have a "mud specialized" shoe, it is a side market. Just like "barefoot shoes" or alpineproof shoes are niche markets.
      I buy stuff in the later niche, you buy in the mud niche but most people have a pair of "normal" trail shoes and that kind of shoe is the vast majority of use. That is logically the target of nnormal starting from 0. Surely a mud/ultralight/alpine model might come depending on the demand.

    • @vic6820
      @vic6820 2 года назад

      @@FuckAdds I'm not niche. I don't see the point in wasting chunky rubber tread on a surface which does not require it, then when the autumn and winter arrive, you do require it but your chunky rubber tread is now flat. To me that is logical, not niche. Anyway, we will see the development as the company progresses. I'm looking forward to checking out the multi purpose shoes when they are available.

    Sounds a lot like Kilian is not wanting to be a part of a company like Salomon that is owned by Anta Sports and worn by the leader of the CCP (Arcteryx is also an Anta brand). Salomon has also become a little fashion first and although yes they have S/Lab and their kit is amazing the brand has begun to be diluted.
