  • I found this LED Motion Sensing light at Costco on clearance. The one I have in my backyard has not been working correctly for several weeks so I decided to give this one a go.
    I had to make some modifications to the box to get the light to mount flush but overall a fairly simple install. I am not sure if Costco will be restocking this one but here is one that is pretty similar on Amazon (and cheaper!):

    Found one brand new in the box at Goodwill for $4.99. They're currently selling at Walmart for $30 bux. Installed mine, works great. It can even be put on constant as well (if the circuit is switched).

    Issue straight out of the box....mounting plate on back of unit does NOT separate from it. I've seen videos where it's already separated, or removed by unscrewing bolt. (my bolt will loosen, but will not release mounting plate). Any suggestions?

      @@WingingItDIY Your Costco "Home Zone" security light's brightness is 3000 lumens. Andy says his Home Depot "Defiant" one is 1000 lums, which I assume is lumens, so isn't your "Home Zone" three times brighter?

    MY KOda Light worked great for about a year then one of the three lights went out. I should just go by a light that is not junk. They have no help on their sight to fix it.

    I just bought the same light set up off of eBay for like 30 bucks and just install it on my house at my front door You need to run caulking all the way around it to make it waterproof and then on the little switch box on the bottom you need to turn it upside down from the way it is now it says it on it to face one side up

    • @WingingItDIY
      @WingingItDIY  3 года назад

      I noticed that but mine does not turn all the way, it's almost like it was mounted upside down from the factory.

      @JTWaters68 3 года назад +1

      @@WingingItDIY I would only caulk around the top and sides, best to leave the bottom part bare in case moisture gets inside the box it can escape at the bottom

    What if my house isn't grounded? Do I just connect the neutral and hot?

    • @WingingItDIY
      @WingingItDIY  3 года назад +1

      Is the electrical box metal? Often the metal boxes themselves are grounded and you can attach the ground from the light to the box.

    The “extra bright” button is not for the brightness. You select the time of day that you want the light to come on.

      Thank you! I realized that after I read through the manual. The label on the sensor itself is not very intuitive.

    Hey ding 🛎 dong the buttons go towards the bottom of sensor head not on top. There’s great big words on it that says point this side up. Look at the box. So go out and turn your motion head so the light switches are on the bottom . This makes it easier for you to change them from the ground also if you look in the directions it should show you with the head pointing in the right direction that the sensor goes out side to side so many degrees but also points down at an angle so many degrees. This way it’ll pick things up from under the head all the way out to the yard. With it upside down your infrared sensor is shooting up at the sky.all Motion sensors of an upside and a down side.if I could send you a pick of how they work I would but trust me.

    • @donutworry
      @donutworry Год назад

      Yes, as described on page 9 of instruction manual under "Manual Override Function". Assuming you have a light switch that controls power to the Security Camera, just turn the switch OFF - ON - OFF - ON within 3 seconds. Then the light will stay on for 6 hours, or until dawn. The manufacturer describes this "Manual Override Function" at time 1 min 53 secs in its installation video: ruclips.net/video/wI09DhSfJJo/видео.html

    I’m not so sure that plastic would hold up in the south Florida sun. I’ll look at Home Depot for something else.

    Wipe all plastics down with Windex and use an automotive ceramic coating/sealer on it as described by whatever brand you use. It will add many years to the service life of the plastic. UVA/UVB inhibited, chemical resistant used on plastic auto trim works very well. Buy the more expensive brand for your car/truck and use it around the house as well, you won't regret it. Be Safe out there.
