I think it may have limited him ever since, and mainly because he was drafted to a team that wasn't very good or very good to QBs. Would've ruined a lesser man. But I still wonder how good he'd be, if not for the botched shoulder surgery. But the general impression from Chiefs fans was that Alex played with too little urgency at times. If it wasn't there, he didn't force it. Sometimes, though, it WAS there, but he didn't trust himself or the receiver to take the shot. Even a couple in game-deciding situations. "Really? You didn't take a shot at the 1st on 4th down, with 30 seconds to go?"

Mayfield's a clear cut above Manziel. I'm just not sure he's a crazy enough athlete to compensate for his physical shortcomings. Tarkenton was crazy athletic. Russell Wilson's not exactly a shrimp, but he's also able to power out of an arm tackle. Mayfield looks like he's relatively easy to bring down. But he gets the game, and he knows he's gotta get rid of that ball. It may just come down to how good a job Dorsey does building that team around him.
