Ina & Troels are true champions; Ina dances with grace, and she is so elegant in her moves. Their moves are smooth, controlled, and they are always in sync with each other. Troels is a great leader, and he makes it look so easy. They know what they have to do and they do it perfectly. 👏👏 The best Latin dancers. 🔥🔥👸🤴🏆 Congrats! 🍾

Troel's airborne flat foot at 18:36 is really not a "true champion"s foot. Just saying, only because many ppl, including yourself, see and comment on the big picture. However, at this level the devil is in the details, and these small things reveal precisely what the big picture often conceals

Don't crucify me for my opinion, but here it is. Not to judge from my POV or to take anything away from these artists excellence. As a former competitive dancer going through the ranks like everybody else, I've like thousands of dancers have had to sit through the tortures of results and not making it to the next round, nevermind placing because of the ranks of the "top dancers" and how hip they are with not just the crowd but with the judges and trainers in particular.
If you're performance on the day of the competition is not on the level of a couple who's dancing better and to a higher standard, you shouldn't make the final and place in whatever position only because you're the obvious favorite. It's unfair and insulting. That being said, allow me voice my frustration about something that is clear as day in this video.
I don't have an opinion in the ballroom section. But being a Latin dancer for close to 22 years, I've learned a few things from my coaches and what to look for when in a competitive mindset.
In terms of the 6 placed couples I do not agree with the placements.
Troels and Ina are masters at this. Everything about them doesn't seem to be perfected, but are perfect, except for some emotional connection. Ina in her own right, from the hair, to her feeling the music, to using every muscle possible, extended fingers, perfect foot placement, the dress and just perfection all round loses some validity when in especially the rumba Troels have a certain disconnection from her. Yet they win, because together they're exceptional. We all remember Beata Onefater. May she RIP. She had this ability to sell Rumba like no one else, and following her there are two ladies in this final of the Latin section who portrays that same exquisite feel to this dance.
Marina and Laura doesn't need partnering in rumba basically, they sell it in such a powerful way that they might as well do solo Rumba. But then Massimo joins and HE gets this dance so close to perfect with Laura that one can excuse the solo comment. Look at them closely. Look at Laura individually and then at Massimo individually and together. Look at how they sell it. It's a "book" everyone would purchase. They're best seller material but yet they're overlooked to some degree.
Together Massimo and Laura should make 1st place in many more ways than one. I firmly believe that they have a slight edge above any other couple because just as the rest of the final line up, Laura and Massimo has that emotionally connected X-factor through all five dances which the judges overlook. Placing them at 4, yet again is an insult to me personally and I don't even know them personally.
Marina is absolutely just exquisite. Dorin is a strong powerful dancer, but I can't wonder how much better she would be, if it is even possible, if she had a partner to the likes of Massimo or even Salvo Sinardo. Imagine her with Slavik. A boy who is so in tune with his emotions and masculinity. Nothing about Dorin is unfortunate but if he losens up a bit and has a different connection with emotion and feeling. Imagine them then.
I loved Andra a bit more with her previous partner. Together Nino and her are great. Andra's level is higher though. Placing 3rd instead of 4th.
5th and 6th were nailed in terms of judgement on the night. But Kirill is in my opinion the better dancer between him and Pavel. When he danced with Oxana he seemed better connected because Oxana is world class in every aspect. But it's not an individual competition.
I would in my opinion place Massimo and Laura by larger margins 1st only because they are that more connected. Then Troels and Ina, then Dorin and Marina, Nino and Andra and then the balance.
These results were decided even before these magicians walked onto that floor.
Laura and Massimo were the better artists on this night and the results should reflect that. It's unfortunately very political. It's an insult to our art.
These dancers work their asses off just to being denied a true result.
But anyway. Maybe a good idea to take perspective from athletics or tennis. If you lose on the day, you were beaten by a stronger athlete on the day. It's only fair and should reflect that.
My POV ... use it don't use it.
Thank you for this platform to voice our opinion.
The dancing was as always exceptionally entertaining.
    #massimolaura

That's because dancing is very subjective like any other art forms. There aren't many positions or forms or tricks like axels on figure skating that they can give points by executing objectively better than others. Latin dancing is, unfortunately, scored based on subjective perceptions of the judges. And these perceptions are easily influenced by factors such as popularity, other judge's perceptions of other contestants, etc.

@@Ral-js2yb LA and Ballroom dancing-at least in theory- is judged using a well established set of criteria, musicality being first and foremost, followed by other well-known markers. it's ok to be ignorant about these very basic things, but it's not ok to spread your ignorance, because that amounts to gross misinformation. also, competitive dance is NOT art and it's NOT-again, at least in principle-subjective. it's a competitive dance event, in which couples are judged and placed according to the very criteria you are not familiar with. this is not to say, however, that subjectivity-whatever form it may take-does not occur: it has and it does, and that's a different issue altogether; however, to assert that it's the founding principle is ludicrous but not in the least surprising

Raj-js2yb. I have to agree and if anyone can offer a reason why this is the case I'd be happy to hear it. My opinion is because the emphasis now is so heavily on the athletic and technical aspects, striving to produce the perfect line, shape with dynamic movement and speed that the creative artistry has been butchered, hence it all looks carbon copies and straight out of a factory production line. I do see some potential on the horizon that may change that again for the better. I don't think we will see that extraordinary golden era of Latin dance 98 to 2020 for a very long time if ever again.

Now that we can see everyone in comparison...
K and V: you absolutely outdanced everyone on that night in terms of intent, purpose, laser-like focus, power, class, and competitive spirit. you not only understood but completely slayed that assignment, sending a loud and clear message re: the real contender for the throne in the house. So well-done. Keep working and pushing ahead. On a second thought, a clear 2nd for me after T&I.
N and A: looking like they were out for a practice run, both in terms of costumes and approach. Andra's feet could def be better, clearly pushing on the outside edge of the foot. Nothing new here at all. I'll stop here.
D and M: unfortunately, not enough gusto to challenge T&I, despite superior technique and choreo. as always, a little too insular, a little too casual to seriously push for the 1st. would've loved to see them go all out without any reservations.
T&I: as usual, a solid "A" performance, checking all the right boxes but completely failing to surprise and inspire.
The rest: this would've been a top 48 level dancing in the "old"(!) dance world and so nothing to say.
Overall: the dance field is in dire need of innovation and out-of-the box approaches to dancing.

It is mocking it instead of honoring it. It is so annoying to see them place so high with zero creativity and barely if any hip movement in rumba or cha cha. So much posing and standing around in jive. No cool spins just some basics without any foot articulation or finished lines anywhere to be found. For decades I have followed Dance Sport...but not so much in recent years...things have changed from what it was 40 years ago...and not for the better. Especially in one area and that is how the men perform...Male dancers have become way to effeminate in their moves and appearance. Such as greased hair with glitter in it. Shirts that are more like frilly women's blouses. And moves that mimic their female partners. In early years male dancers were far more masculine, less exaggerated in their movement and lead their female partners in the dance...allowing them to be the star of their partnership. When they danced you could easily see the gender differences...not so much now..!!

First of all they don’t have glitter in their hair it’s jell, when you have a full head of hair that’s what you use to keep it in place.
Secondly the men’s clothing now is WAY more masculine than it was 40 or even 20 years ago. 😂
Back in the day the men would probably be wearing white pants, white oversized shirt, with purple highlights and GLITTER / stone work all over them.
Compared to now, black pants and just the black or white shirt with maybe some ruffles on the front but that’s it!

@@BigSkinny25 Oh...Please....with "would probably" it shows that you dont know what it was like 30 or 40 years ago. Well...I do...I stand by my comment. Men never wore the heeled shoes you see these guys wear. They would never wear those long tailed tuxedos you see here. And they didnt grease their hair..instead they kept their hair short. They moved with a more attractive masculine athletic style that was distinctly different from their female partners. They wouldnt point their toes, and they wouldnt fling their arms about like the women do. If someone out there has videos from those times and posted them here you would see the difference. I blame the judging criteria for allowing these changes over the years. For the popularity of the sport and the public acceptance of it...they should require male dancers to return to a more masculine style. If you could see it I believe you would like it a lot more than what it is today.

@@dereckroberts3popularity of the sport and public acceptance? How delusional are you truly? Dancesport DIED in western culture in the generation of “masculine men” which was in the 70s. That generation with their over the top glittery outfits is what helped KILL its perception in the first place (that generation started the ballroom dancers are girly stereotype that dancing with the stars helped finally get rid of). It had a revival solely thanks to the dancing with the stars franchise across many countries. No they shouldn’t go back to that dancing as it’s incredibly stiff and unenjoyable and the only people who would enjoy it are those above the age of 60 with no real experiences seeing authentic Latin dancing that’s seen in Latin American countries. Now they are making dancing look more athletic (which inherently is more masculine) for the sole purpose of trying to make it mainstream like Ballet, Tap, Hiphop, Modern, & Jazz. It’s comical you think you can comment on the current generations ALL black fitted costumes when the 70s & 80s were full of men wearing ridiculous amounts of rhinestone, glitter, and flashy colors. How are you going to write a nonsensical comment coming at that user when it takes one RUclips search of “world Latin dance championships 1978” to prove their point? Don’t be delusional it makes you look moronic and stuck in a nostalgia bliss that ignores any truth.

@@dereckroberts3 30 years ago was the 90s. Donnie Burns wore the same type of heeled shoes, had long hair, and his shirt had oversized sleeves. The other male competitors wore variations of these as well. Well, at least in the 1993 World Trophy Professional Latin in Japan they did. There were a few pointed toes here and there too, and their arms moved with varying degrees of flourish.
