After 4 years of following this show I have just realised the Attack Titan and Armoured Titan- it’s in the name. They’re meant to be on opposite sides. And the latter is the protector.
@@sammybutler3027 Actually the exact translation would be "The Armored Titan" but yeah, a funny play on the Title is what you were going for, I get it 😅
I find they too are Parallels. The Attack can also be used to protect something, albeit offensively. The Armored can be used to fight for Eldia in a more forward manner, like sending it to the front lines to "Protect" the heartland. So much Dichotomy between the 2. A Shield can be used to Bash, a Sword can be used to Block, and vice versa.
Blonde vs brunette Blue vs Green Muscular vs Lean Suicidal vs homicidal These two are the opposite sides of the same coin so different right down to their core but still so similar
Even though Eren is a great character, but I always ( and I do believe many of us ) feel that Reiner is more of the character I can relate more, Fragile, untalented, unwanted, but burdened by the expectation to do something more, with all those lack of skills and being not a natural born leader, he was just always average, nothing special about him, but the world made him feel if he dont push himself, be something else than what he is, otherwise no one will ever want nor he will deserve any respect or recognition, unlike Zeke who was lucky enough to get the help and love of Ksaver as his mentor and father-like figure to guide him, Reiner didnt have anyone, he push himself through the dark road, with no guidance at all, he didnt even deserved to be chosen, if its not for only a mere substitute out of a scheme ( to save someone's brother life ), Reiner since the beginning, start with nothing, with no one, and ended up the same, unlike Eren who is Strong-willed, Reiner is only your average person, going through that Depression, realizing that he did a very bad thing, going from nothing to something even worse, almost took his own life, but he managed to have the will to go through the hell called life, to continue his worthless life, just so he can be useful to protect those Kids, someone dear to him, Reiner is the most realistic Character, all of those mistake he made, because he has no mentor, no guidance, and all the consequences he has to bear and face, and have to live is life hiding behind that Strong and Dependable Person that is not him, IMO is indeed what makes Reiner the most Tragic Character in the Series.
Yeah, I agree with you. I think the difference between Eren and Reiner is more of the "hell" eren talks about. Reiner surrenders but tries to keep living in the "hell" he is in, while Eren pushes himself to see beyond that "hell". I think the difference is that Eren has ¿hope? that there will be better things beyond, even when knowing exactly what is going to happen.
I agree with what you said about Reiner but i think you are kinda forgetting how much Eren also struggled with those same things you listed throughout the story. That's why the show parallels those two so much, there are still some key differences between them of course.
@@azsugar8361 I also agree with you, I never said I belittle Eren or anything, it just Eren is kinda 'the chosen' one, he got the help of his father, also he born to with this unstoppable spirit to fight for what he believes in, the strong will, Eren is not your average real life guy, he born with it and along the way made him also able to do what it takes, to do it, while what I wanted to highlight was that Reiner was nothing, he is your average real life guy, he didnt have any talent, he even lacked the fighting spirit, any specials talent, he even didnt ever have a father figure, he has to work on his own and all of the mere luck that surround him, which made him along the way, took many wrong or unfitting decisions. thats all. Eren is as I said before, still the greatest Character of all time, I just want to say that Reiner is the Most Realistic character by real world standard, hence many of us can relate to him.
I salute whoever decided to put this ost on that rumbling scene with yhe baby, i cried my heart out literally i sobbed like no other time before. My heart broke ..
Reiner: Why are you here..?! Eren: I have the same reason, I have no other choice. I really like that conversation with Eren and Reiner, he understands his enemy that caused his hatred and trauma, which at the time when he was young he thought he was all evil but now as a young adult, he understands. Now he did the same thing like what Reiner did on that very day that motivated Eren to kill all titans, which then shifted into the whole world.
i think when eren says they both are the same, he means that they both had a choice and still chose to further push themselves into hell. When Reiner says that it was his fault and that he chose to attack paradis as they could have turned back, eren says we truly are the same. I think from the pre-deterministic perspective, you could say eren didn't have a choice because the future was already set, even though there were other ways to save paradis(though those methods like the 50-year plan, were not perfect and guaranteed to work, like eren's rumbling plan). But I think eren would have done it even if he didn't know the future, the recent part 3 proves this for me.
seeing this portrait, you can't help but sympathize with both. Eren, ready to demolish everyone and everything that made him lose everything he ever had. and Reiner, So guilty for his deeds that he can't even look Eren in the eyes. 😞
This is absolutely amazing. The development between these two are written to perfection. While their upbringings are different yet somewhat similar they find a way to somehow keep moving forward and to fight even when they are at there lowest. Eren with protecting Mikasa and Armin, avenging his mom and promising to destroy the Titans/ his enemies and keep moving forward no matter what. While Reiner wants to prove his worth and become a hero. He has to move on mostly by himself with his struggles to understand who he really is. Such an amazing show and this instrumental right here just shows everything along with the background picture. Amazing
That picture is such a great expression of the underlying tones of emotion between Eren and Reiner in that scene. Well done, to whoever captured that spirit so effortlessly.
@@dregnr51 That's a mistranslation, the OG Japanese supposedly implies that it was actually Ymir who sent Dina down that path (the Japanese version is supposedly more like "It couldn't be helped" which would lean more towards Ymir being responsible).
Attack on Titan is a masterpiece. If you go to certain social medias, you will see people unnecessarily hating on this story, but honestly there are FEW that can compete with it. I love Naruto but it isn't either like someone once tried to claim. What makes AOT perfect in almost everyway is the insane foreshadowing they gave from the FIRST episode or chapter. Literally, the entire story was given to us in hints, and we never realized it. Not to mention how fleshed out most characters are in this story. From their design to outlook on the world around them, is amazing. The show has it fault, but that's expected. ATLA, Death Note, Vagabond, Kingdom, Berserk, Monster, etc all have their faults.
@@minnamsl4549 ATLA technically isn't referred as an anime, but it's Avatar The Last Airbender. Imo, it's one of the best written works, and managed to create it's own lore despite having to censor a lot of things and topics. Vagabond and Berserk are both Manga's. But if you want to watch Berserk, I recommend the three movies, they're really good even though they left some things out of the story you can watch it on Netflix or some anime sites. Kingdom has an anime though, I belive that they are on season 3 right now.
Beatiful fucking choice for the last rumbling scene. Didnt expect it in the least and it was so... out of this world. Maybe I'm fanboying, but goddamn is this show good and powrful when it wants to be
That picture of Reiner and Eren looks like when you just bought a new hoody and your gf is staring at you in the depth of your soul wondering when you are going to give up on your dreams and hand over the hoody. The music even matches the scenario. #Tatakae
I like the size difference between both of their eyes. One is passionless, while the other is full of it. In fact he's on a mission both literally and ideologically.
In my opinion this OST should’ve played when Reiner was reliving his past. I was reading the manga at that part while listening to the soundtrack and this came up while I was reading about Reiners memories and guilt about Marcel. Compared to the one they used in the anime which did also fit I overall think this one would’ve suited more. Especially considering the OST is literally called “Guilty Hero”.
I love this image of Eren and Reiner. The look of regret/sadness on Reiner's face. And the look of, "look what you did to us" on Eren's face. I love it so much. As if he's trying to invade Reiners thoughts with his own.
You can start to relate with someone when you finnally see what is he trying to achieve and live with. Was in season 4 when we finally saw for whose people were Reiner and Berthold agreeing with stain their hands with their genocide attempts. And then, we see Eren doing the same that Reiner and the others were made to. Just kids who didn't knew better, with the power to destroy a country, but still trying to do what they thought it was right, but their mistakes and failures only made the survivors stronger, and then, there it is, Eren totally composed and ready to start another genocide, but this time in Reiner's home. I saw more tension and drama in other animes, but Attack on titan is one of the few(and I mean very few) series that gave enought drama and tension in the encounters they had to make all of us agree that is a master piece.
2:08 , the moment the piano started playing i felt like crying. Idk why but that piano on top of the ost made it so much better in every sense, wish it was played more throughtout the ost
Can you see it? They both looked for justice and freedom. I fear Eren is becoming the dark side of Reiner. And Reiner is becoming the light side of Eren. Good and evil, light and darkness, rise and fall. Life and death, victory and defeat. Love and hate... They know each other and they know they will never become the other one, but at the same time they are the same person. The same spirit. Be a warrior

@@afifarushba Armor on Titan
@@sammybutler3027
Actually the exact translation would be "The Armored Titan" but yeah, a funny play on the Title is what you were going for, I get it 😅
I find they too are Parallels. The Attack can also be used to protect something, albeit offensively. The Armored can be used to fight for Eldia in a more forward manner, like sending it to the front lines to "Protect" the heartland.
So much Dichotomy between the 2. A Shield can be used to Bash, a Sword can be used to Block, and vice versa.
guilty hero definitely has to be one of my favorites.

A sword that was forced to defend
And now both have switched their roles

reiner's eyes are brown, but all the same i get where you're going
To the future generation who will see the anime, hear this music, Never let it die please..
I think the difference is that Eren has ¿hope? that there will be better things beyond, even when knowing exactly what is going to happen.
well said bro!
@@RedNightron i think i understand what you meant better now, thanks for the reply.
My heart always ached for Reiner, especially with his mental break down faced with the reality of his crimes. Man, that character is so well written.
Somebody please pray for MAPPA animators for animating that rumbling scene 💔😭🙏
I salute whoever decided to put this ost on that rumbling scene with yhe baby, i cried my heart out literally i sobbed like no other time before. My heart broke ..
Good bye, Eren
Can’t believe it finally ended, what a great masterpiece
Amazing
Came here after baby scene from rumbling. Amazing ost.
I had to find this immediately after watching that baby scene. It hit so HARD
The baby voice is kaji Yuki baby voice
"I knew it, Reiner. You and I, we're the same..."
That picture is such a great expression of the underlying tones of emotion between Eren and Reiner in that scene. Well done, to whoever captured that spirit so effortlessly.
Agreed... Where can I find this photo online?
Eren: why did my mother have to do die? What did she do wrong........tell me Reiner, is it because we're devils, are we?......
These two really have got one of best relationships in this world
because two of them are guilty for only they were born in this world
And.... literal genocide?
and also, the issue is, reiner killed eren's mother on the attack on shiganshina, so idk what your talking about.
@@memeboinkthememer707 actually eren killed his own mom so uh yeah there's a fun dark fact for today
@@dregnr51 That's a mistranslation, the OG Japanese supposedly implies that it was actually Ymir who sent Dina down that path (the Japanese version is supposedly more like "It couldn't be helped" which would lean more towards Ymir being responsible).

Reiner is the real guilty hero
This is his theme for sure. Prob my favourite character besides Erwin.
@@Jkhorve Mine too. I love Erwin and Reiner. 🖤
You can make a case for Armin, Zeke and even Eren, they are all guilty deep down and doing what they think is right
I think this played in Zeke's backstory episode, but it also fits Reiner well
Well at the end remember, they are the same
Reiner says: "you play the bad guy next"
Eren says:" you play the good guy next"
What is ATLA ??
and the other names "except monster and death note" are mangas without an adaptation ?? Or what ?
Hope you answer me 🙏🙏
@@minnamsl4549 ATLA technically isn't referred as an anime, but it's Avatar The Last Airbender.
They hate on it because they're jealous their favorite anime isn't half as acclaimed.
last couple chapters ruined it otherwise 10/10

Most underrated ost in AOT
One of the most amazing character foil I've seen
I can see guilty and helplessness in Reiner's eyes while madness in Eren's, great picture

Reiner and Eren are my favorite duo. The two of them are almost the complete opposite and yet they understand each other.
yoo the art us perfection, i love reiner and eren faces
love the drawing
if this does not play in Zeke-Grisha reunion, or the paths, i will be disappointed. This theme is perfect
So what do you think of it now ?
The ost they played during that scene is gotta be one of the most sublime themes I've ever heard, ever.
i can see this being played during THAT scene with young eren talking about freedom...
That picture of Reiner and Eren looks like when you just bought a new hoody and your gf is staring at you in the depth of your soul wondering when you are going to give up on your dreams and hand over the hoody. The music even matches the scenario. #Tatakae
Hearing this song makes me feel the depression they both faced
I really would love to have the sheet for the cello part. This is absolutely amazing.

This is really good wow
They could have been great friends...if only there were born on the same side
"I am the same as you."
"You talking mad shit for someone in a rumbling distance" - Eren in this photo

A picture with a thousand words
-"Are they lovers?"
-"Worse."
goosebumps man, fucking goosebumps. this is beautiful.
"You had no choice. The same as me. Thats why I'm here."
Great art!
Different sides of the same coin.
This is how anime becomes legend… and then becomes myth for centuries to come.
AoT is great, my favorite actually, but this comment was CRINGE AF.
