- A quick look at my pigeons in the kit box including some of the young birds and and older flying birds. Also a look through my loft and an update on the rollers I am breeding from.
I love these birds had them in my childhood over 20 plus years ago looking at these I would love to get back in the game ❤️❤️❤️
Go for it! They help keep me going during these mad times. It’s always a joy to watch the fly and spin on a lovely summers day.

By the sounds of it mate you’ve just started keeping rollers.
Best advice I can give you is go round a competition fly and watch the birds, that way you’ll get meet the top lads in the hobby.If you like them ask the lad to see if he has any for sale pick the birds out the air before you buy them that way people are selling you their rubbish at the end of the year. good luck for the future and enjoy the hobby.
boro7059 thanks for your comment mate. Yes I’ve only just started to keep them however most the birds I have now have come directly from reputable flyers like George Mason for example. I still have some that I’m unsure of but I’m guessing it takes time to get them all right. I’ll be joining some flys soon too hopefully and then try to get some more. All the best to you.
I really like your set up. Those lofts are perfect.
I’m looking to change my breeding loft to something a little bit bigger soon. Ideally I’d want 12 breeding boxes so I’m working on something at the moment 😉

@@doublearollers Sounds good! Ideally you would have 24 youngsters of the same age to train together from their own kitbox. Suggest 'Natural Vitamineral' for the breeders for improved productivity, and fewer losses if you let them out on their own to get their bearings and to train them before they can fly. Best wishes.
42gentian thank you for the advice. Unfortunately I started breeding late in the season so my young birds came in bits rather than all around the same time. Makes training them a little harder but next year should be better 🤞
@@doublearollers ...that's 'ideally', but it could take many years to accumulate several pairs of first class rollers. You might feel it is better to try one good pair, if they are obtainable, than several pairs related to first class birds

If your hen keep laying eggs put plastic eggs in. Because if keep laying mite get egg bound. Mine sometimes do.

Got any roll downs. Crazy pigeons got red white hen.when it rolls it won't stop. Nelly killed it self 3 time's .so breeder now.
I do get them occasionally but I wouldn’t breed off them.

Sorry if it seems a bit of a stupid question but why are you looking to breed those birds that roll? ive only really known of racing pigeons and idk if thats what these are so just curious
For the entertainment that they give you whilst you are watching them fly. If you’ve got an interest in pigeons then perhaps watch a kit of roller pigeons perform and you’ll understand.

Birkett doesn’t breed orange eyes always pearl
hello double a if you have orange eye birds they are not pure my stuff .looks like you are starting with a mixed bag of birds of dubious ancestry.who did you get your ( Birkett ) birds from not me . unless you get the birds direct from the named fancier it's very hard to be sure if they have been kept pure .lots of lads breed open loft with different families in the loft and as sure as eggs are eggs infadelity will take place .Any records kept thereafter are pure guesswork and can ruin any breeding plans you might have becouse you may not know the true sire of your young birds .I can see that you are using close box system .but can you guarantee the person you had your birds from did the same. ???.once you have a close bred family that you are happy with (years from now )unless you obtain them from a successful fancier who you can trust open loft may be an option .In my opinion keeping and breeding from different strains even if you could gaurentee there pedigree could be a recipe for disaster .Ask some of your roller mates like George mason He knows his stuff .If he was starting again would he start with birds off all different families.see what he says george will likely tell you what he thinks. These are only my opinions the birds . ex

I contacted the NBRA to ask about membership and because I said I was not interested in compensation flying at the moment I was told I'll be better off joining the All England instead but all Google does is link me to the NBRA so wounded if you have an address or telephone number, email so I can contact them pls.
