Settling Young Birds & NEW Kit Box - Birmingham Roller Pigeons

- This is the method I use to try and settle my young birds. These Birmingham rollers are all this years young birds and are mainly from the George Mason family. There are many different ways of settling young pigeons but this seems the best option for me this year. Also, I have a look around my stock pairs and show you my loft extension with the new kit boxes I’ve made inside.
Thank you for posting
From Brooklyn NY
That loft is one of the best I have seen
Thank you!
Thoroughly enjoyed the video.🕊
Very nice new kit boxes and explanation of training. I wanted to suggest a large bottom-hinged door in the side of the kit box itself, maybe with wire in it so they can see out too, and perhaps where there is a column of single perches. When it's let down they could walk straight out onto it as soon as they come off the nest, and before they can fly at all. Also straight back into the box for feeding. That way they might be settled even earlier and progress more easily to starting to fly, with less worry about safely.
Cracking video. Your birds are looking really nice and you are making a great loft. Look forward very much to the next one.
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. Appreciate your support, hopefully more videos to come soon.
@@doublearollers I use to keep west tumblers in the 80s but had to give them up due to moving in to a flat but now live in a bungalow and thanks to all your videos plus some other guys I'm thinking about keeping rollers instead this time. So thanks man
Wow! You're a gifted builder & designer. I couldn't cut a straight line to save my life. Very nice work! Very impressive! 😊👍
Thank you sir. The more I try the better I get at this woodwork stuff. It’s far from perfect but it will do the job for the foreseeable future.
Looks like they are starting to follow each other as one flies. Great work 👍
Yep, it looks like one takes the lead and the rest follow. The last few days, they’re getting higher and flying a little longer. I’m thinking it will be around another 2 weeks until they’re flying properly. It’s always a risk when they’re in the air though 🤞
@@doublearollers agreed brother 👍

Great vid mate .. the loft looks awsome.. young birds are coming on great. You'll have 3 kits of 20 birds in no time.
Thank you mate. I appreciate your kind words. I’m being patient with these young birds as the last thing I want to do is start losing them. My aim is to get 2 kits of 20 this year so fingers crossed 🤞

If you get a sparrow hawk coming in low can't you mesh above your fence panels ?
Hi mate top notch set up . It looks like you spend a lot of time in your back yard with your bird’s. I’ll bet you had the bird’s when you was a young lad ? Passion for the birds is a dying hobby these days . Where do you live in the UK?
Hi mate, thanks for the lovely comment. Yes, I do spend a lot of time in the garden with the birds as it’s a hobby I love. I did indeed have them during my childhood. I’m live in Peterborough, what about you?
@@doublearollers
Hi mate your passion shows through in the back yard and the dedication you put in all the videos. Keep it up it’s good to see. Like I said before back yard hobby’s
Seem to be taken over by the computer and all the technology we have these days.I remember building my first loft around 10 years old using any old wood I could lay my hands on straightening nails out of the bonfire. I used to work at a auction in Bradford holding the chickens ducks and geese up on a Friday night
The going back to scrape the shit up on a Saturday morning I used to get 15 pound and spend it on pigeons what we’re going through the auction. Let the rollers out two days later and watch them fly away LOL, some good rollers I recall. I live in Australia now I’ve had the rollers for around 15 years over here. We are in lockdown over here it’s great for the bird’s flying the young twice a day, it brings the birds on much better they get that apple body fitness to go with it the roll is more fluent if you have got the right stock birds.!!!I took a video of my set up breeding loft and kit boxes it’s 10 minutes long , I’ll send you it ? Let me know how,Thanks John
John was the auction manningham
Can you please tell us about the size of the kit box thank you so much
👍🕊
do u take turn switching with other kit too ??
I never feed my birds before they go out . Because a bird with food in there crop will not behave as you want . Like when it's time to come in the loft a bird full of food will look at you stupid lol lovely set up and great looking bods I no there in training but it's not something I personally do
Is there a reason why your feeding them on floor and not inside the kit box? also how are the birds doing on 2" floor grill I was thinking to do the same thanks in advance
The reason I was feeding them on the floor was because I wanted them to try flying in and out of their box. Also, with a tray in the box, it doesn’t give them much room meaning some eat more than others. 2” floor grills are brilliant for keeping it clean as everything just falls straight through but it’s not ideal for weaning the young birds as they really struggle walking on it if they have to.
@@doublearollers Thanks for clearing that up. Loving your set up giving me ideas as im going to be extending my loft soon ,one more question what do you feed your kit?
@@blackcobrauk I’m feeding my flying birds just wheat.
Hi we’res the best place to get some rollers thanks
Hi, I couldn’t tell you where the best place to buy rollers is but the best way to buy rollers is get to know some of the fanciers and watch some kits fly. Look for what you like and approach some of the owners. I’m sure you’ll eventually get a pair or two or some young birds from them.
How big are your kit boxes
3ft x 3ft x 3ft
Do you have any pair Young Pigeons for sale
Like-30
Do you sell pigeon and if so how much
You gave them to much food that why there getting jumpy
