What's the name of your time card app? Is it free?

bumping this comment! I just went ahead and downloaded a bunch but I'm not sure which one is most applicable to a 1-person team

If you work from home, I highly recommend 'commuting' to and from work. Pop out and run some errands on the way "to work" and do the post office run last. Walk the dog to the local park to get your steps in. Pop out for a to go coffee and get back in time to start your work day. I like to go out sketching first thing. I walk the dogs and grab a coffee at the same time, so by the time I get back home "to work" I've already done at least an hour.

I’ve never thought about clocking how long you work for, that’s such a good idea to keep track of time. And scheduling stuff out like that? Genius. I need to start implementing these things in my work life.

I am very grateful for these videos, from you and everyone else, who takes the time to make them! I went into trying to make a career already implementing all of your tips (and all of the work so well, basically essential) and I know that it saved me so much stress, disappointment, heartache and fatigue. So thank you! In addition to sleep and exercise, eating habits are very important too, take your lunch breaks everyone!

Thank you so much for this video ❤️ I found it very useful as a person who is transitioning from another career to art. Until recently art was my hobby and there is a significant change of mindset that is needed 😀 Painting and filming now are more than something that I do just for fun (although I love both a lot) and I need to remind myself to incorporate other activities which bring me inspiration and relaxation, because in the long run this may lead to burnout.

Omg the time card app is so smart. I always think I'm barely getting anything done but something tells me I work a lot longer than I think I do, so maybe that will help me realize it!

It’s so hard to keep track of yourself especially when you get in the zone!!! It’s helped me a lot!

Fantastic tips! I need to get back on a regular sleep schedule. I felt SO MUCH BETTER when I was sleeping 8 hours+ a night. And I love the reminder to stretch! I do my hot girl walks, but not my stretches! Very important. Also LOVED the idea for the timecard app. I never even considered doing that. Will have to look into it. Another great bonus video (we're spoiled 🥰). Thanks, Al!

This ties in with tip #4, but when I would study at home during my undergrad-PhD, I would put on my shoes. For me this was a surefire way to get me into a work mode and to prevent me from getting too comfortable. It especially kept me from crawling into bed, because shoes in bed is a nono in my book 🙅‍♂

I am an aspiring independant artist and art teacher so I need to keep a good work life balance to work both on my art skills and materials for my classes. Since my living room is my main workspace, I have implemented some kind of rule where my leisure activities are done on the couch or by the coffee table, while my work activities are done at my desk. Even though it's in the same room, sitting at my desk feels like going to work. I definitively wear a lot of slouchy clothes when I am at home, because I need to be confortable to be in a sitting position or do art, but I try to maintain a separation between day clothes and pajamas. Like I do have pajama shorts and shirts for the night and for the day i switch to cotton joggers or linen shorts with some confortable but cute top. I find that I'd rather keep my most formal wear for when I'm outside, but I hate the feeling of being in my dirty sweaty pajamas all day lol.

im nocturnal lol getting up before noon is really hard lol
i stretch and i dislocate things lol freaks people out when it happens 😝
yeah treating art as a job and dressing like you are actually going into a place to work can help, i just dont care enough to do something fancy with my hair everyday lol
