But people don’t understand what’s going on in peoples personal lives don’t ever feel bad for taking time for yourself and your family and not being able to post as frequently. I feel the same way about recent games I’ve been excited for only to be let down. lLove your content no matter how frequent it is. @@christopherwray4788 Idk, I recently played Elden Ring (well, not so recently, about a year ago), and I really liked this game. Everything was great, the gameplay and maybe more importantantly the lore. My first thought after beating Elden Ring was something like: "Well, this game is very good, maybe even equal to the Witcher 3".
I know that not everyone likes the storytelling style presented in Elden Ring and many people don't even try this game because it's "too hard". But imo this game definitely has a "soul".
Perhaps XLetalis also liked Elden Ring and it was one of those games that he said he liked, but for some reason doesn't want to make videos about it.

My daughter will be 3 this fall so I totally understand you wanting to spend time with family. She had a BAD infection a few months ago and I simply shut down the entire world just to be with her. She’s fine and happy as ever now, of course but that made me realize that any game will still be here X amount of time from now. Family moments are temporary. I wish you and your family the best.
Regarding the Baldurs gate situation, by the time you get done with cyberpunk there should be saves and mods available to make your life in the first act easier. Also, the RNG part gets WAY better as you progress.

Entirely understandable. I played a lot in the first month, then got tired too, and only restarted with the release version. I greatly enjoy the new changes from early access: the Nautiloid prologue is much more streamlined, and the ability to change class and abilities at any time once you find a character early on means you can switch builds without having to restart the game.
All that said, you do what appeals to you. I hope you enjoy BG 3 once you're ready, but whether to try it, and when the time is right, is a choice you know best for you. Best wishes for the channel and your play, whatever direction you take it :)

I would like to share some small fact I noticed: in quest “without of trace” if you spare old couple and do not report to herbalist for a long time (I was making tousaint quests and later returned to report to him), old gran will die from hunger before you even report to herbalist. So in this case it doesnt matter if you tell herbalist the truth, no algouls will appear and no killings will happen). Maybe not new to you, but I thought all triggers appear after quest is finished, but here if you report too long, old couple will die by themselves. Also I noticed instead of body of appelrentice you will see body of the deer in storage which confirms they tried to eat other meat.

Thanks for the update and health to your family members! Last week I played Disco Elysium. It is a good game. Sure, it is very different from The Witcher; but I noticed one detail which is probably the best of what I've ever met: its sleep system. In Witcher you press "meditate" and in several seconds you are awake again. In Disco Elysium you have many thoughts before you "fall asleep", and it really changes the mood, relaxes and gives you a break (for example, to save the game and do other things).

I agree about the romance criticism. Companions seem to go from being a bit distrustful to begging to bone down with seemingly very little effort from the player. It's honestly a bit off putting at times. I know they want to give the player the flexibility to romance any companion and it's a part of character development that does draw the player in and fleshes out the companions, but it's just too much, too fast. It's comical at times. If I remember right, on the romance night, there are some instances where there's not really a good platonic dialog option if you talk to some people.
Also, hopefully your daughter recovers quickly. I'm sure it's stressful and please take all the time away you need. Family first.

I know precisely how you feel about just not getting into BG3. I played it a lot in early access and I thought it was one of the worst games I've ever had the displeasure to play. The idea of standing there for hours, swing/miss, swing/miss, cast spell/miss, cast spell/miss ad nauseum put me off it so much I uninstalled it. It isn't fit to stand in _The Witcher 3's_ shadow. What makes a good TT game does not make for a good video game. They're different beasts. P.S. Hope your daughter gets well soon.

If you're looking for new video content, perhaps you could go through book by book and point out all the references made to them in the games. For example, I am about halfway through Blood of Elves, and have already noticed a lot, from the dialogue of Lambert training Ciri on the Pendulum matching that in Geralt's dream in the game very closely ("With a flip?" "What do you think?" etc), to Triss telling Ciri that women apply cosmetics for their own satisfaction (said by Keira Metz to Geralt in the game).

Romance in Baldur’s Gate is actually fairly nuanced and complex, you just have to look at things a little differently. Sex is rarely if ever the culmination of a relationship, and is usually an introduction or a marker depending on the person. But in my experience the main point is always the growth of the character and how they have changed with you. Its really good but I hear that sometimes its not for everyone.

What you could do in this context, akin to what a few streamers are already doing, is to gather a team and engage in group play. This would offer a distinct approach with less need for extensive evaluation. The overall gameplay is already feasible. The initial stages would be intriguing: witnessing a group of individuals partaking in cooperative play, led by someone with more experience.
You can play it for enjoyment. I understand that playing is your job, but if you fail to convey a sense of enjoyment to those who watch you play, then you might as well not play at all.

I've played about 100 hours into BG3 now and while I'm loving it, I find the combat extremely frustrating at times. It isn't until you're higher level that you really feel like you can leverage any sort of strategy. That being said I'm already planning my 2nd playthrough.
I do enjoy your videos and I hope you keep doing what you're doing!

I can certainly understand this feeling, because despite loving RPG's and always looking for a new title to play, since I picked up The Witcher 3 no game has managed to generate the same level of satisfaction in me. And with several titles still in the development phase and without any notion of when we will actually be able to play them (The Witcher Remake, Dragon Age 4, Dragon's Dogma 2...) the only thing that remains is a certain discouragement and desire to stay only replaying TW3 a dozen more times. The only game that came even remotely close to satisfying me ended up being Assassin's Creed Odyssey, simply because I really liked Kassandra and because I've loved Greek mythology since I was a kid. But then, I also wonder why they don't just make an Odyssey 2 at once, too, since they keep showing new Kassandra appearances.haha

Sorry to hear about your daughter i prey to god that she gets better soon.
As for the gaming side of things i used to have that problem but with mass effect trilogy, it was a very bad habit for me to compare every game to ME trilogy , but thankfully i got rid of that mindset after a while and started to appreciate games for what they were and what they had to offer, i think a good part of it me being more forgiving of a games flaws and appreciate its strengths, because lets be honest thats how we look at our favorite games, every game is a unique experience and every company has its own unique strengths and weaknesses and as a result i started to greatly appreciate gaming as a whole i recommend you to try something different or just take a break for a while you might get that spark back.

Your thoughts about The Witcher 3 ruining every other game for me made me think about my experience.
I was 15 when it came out and i played on the very first day too. I remember how hyped i was (despite the fact that i only played the previous games 1 year prior because at that time everyone was talking about it, and i like to play new games if i played with the previous titles). I wasn't aware of the book's existence, so a few things were still a mystery too me, but when i first played the game i was amazed like never before, there wasn't any time where i said that i'm not in the mood to play the game, and after i played through the first time i felt completely empty (and after that it was at least 4 years until i played the expansions).
I remember feeling yearning for more from the game, but i played through it already, so i naturally did replays. The thing is, after the game came out, i wasn't waiting to any other game to be released, by that i mean there weren't any games that i waited with much excitement like the Witcher 3. (LionheadStudio's soon shut down after that, and i was sad that no other Fable games would see the day.)
Something changed, but i wasn't really sure what it was, maybe the game did ruin other games for me, or the fact that i was still developing as a teen.
I thought to myself that no other game will hook me after the Witcher 3, but that wasn't really the case. While it's true that i had to give more chances to other games to fell in love with them, i think it's just time and the circumstances that made me feel different about any new games that i played. Otherwise i wouldn't be invested in the Dragon Age series and in Dark Souls. (both game needed at least a year and or a half for me to truly get invested in them).
What i want to say is just take your time. From my experience time will change your mind about things. And after that you'll truly open your mind to new experiences. (If i wouldn't have convince myself to defeat Sloth in DA:O i wouldn't have experience all three games :) )

I get the criticisms of bg3. I enjoy the game on my first run, but your critique rings true to me. I basically ended up savescumming combat in bg3, which I didn't even consider in divinity 2. Saving when one of my plans work out more or less, or reloading, if I get bs dicerolls a few turns in a row. In real life, we can laugh at it and work arojnd it, but here it kinda feels even more stupid than the infamous xcom missing on a 99% hit chance. My choice of romance threw themselves at me in act 1, barely recognised my existence in act 2, and feel pretty decent in act 3. Speaking of act 3, there is a lot of narrative pressure on you to hurry up, even though I had just spent the last 60 odd hours hoping to just kick back and vibe for at least a moment, when I finally got to the city
(And I hope your child gets better)

Over time I realized I happen to like your take on games/media, and think they're pretty fair. If there were reviews of other games that have been given some play time, would like to hear about them, of course if you discover that long lost "secret" from W3 that even the Developers forgot about, would like to hear about that too. Don't worry about how much you upload, spend time with your family, and everything else will be what it is. I'm sure most of us will be here to see whatever you post.

I love bg3 but it's been nagging me for awhile how off the conversations sound. Nobody really talks like that. Lot of exposition and let me tell you my lifestory, person who I just met.
Like the characters can be fun and interesting but I've just found it tough to be fully immersed, to the point I often times just read the lines instead of letting the voice acting play out.
Combat does get better once you hit level 5 and up. Having seen behind the smoke and mirrors of DoS2 combat (forced turn-taking, cheating ai, the issues you mentioned) it really puts into perspective how honest to it's ruleset bg3 stays.

It is no exaggeration to say that you have given me hundreds of hours of thought provoking, hilarious, eye-opening and entertaining Witcher based discussion. I have played Witcher 3 for circa 500 hours and there are numerous paths/choices/cutscenes that i would never have have experienced without your diligent and, some might say, psychotic, deep dive into the Witcher 3. Your eye for detail, relentless dedication to your craft, and ability to spot something of interest is second to none. I can say, hand on heart, that my Witcher 3 experience would not be the same without you-and i mean that in the most positive way. Without you, it would be a poorer, simpler experience Please, never doubt your ability to entertain, educate and inform us of any mere morsel of lore which CDPR has tossed aside for us. You probably don't remember, but i responded to your vampires of Toussaint video by pointing out that the vampires symbol that was seen at the inn where they serve they crayfish chowder was also seen at the Witcher Moreau laboratory where Geralt gets attacked by 2 vampires, your 'love' of my comment meant so much for someone who basically doesn't comment very much on RUclips!. Thank you for making me felt seen and included in this community.
Secondly, and most importantly, as the brother of two sisters who have learning severe/minor leaning difficulties i would say-please take as much time as you need, and give your daughter all the love and support she requires, which i know you will The ones you love most are by far the most important members of your life and you should dedicate all the necessary time time for her. I sincerely hope your daughter's condition improves and is manageable-i know you have the strength to take on this challenge.

I’m so sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope she feels better soon!
As far as BG3, I spent 200 hours on my first playthrough. I love the game and have started 2 additional playthroughs since (Dark Urge and Astarion origin)- only like 10-15 hours into each of those but it’s crazy how much new content already there is.
However with that said, it still doesn’t hold a candle to Witcher 3 or RDR2 in the way of story. I was completely emotionally invested in those games. I find there’s a disconnect for me with BG3 due to the silent protagonist. I know hard core rpg fans prefer it but I find it breaks my immersion. When the other characters are so wonderfully animated and voice acted and then the camera cuts to your character with this blank expression (or an over exaggerated one), it just such a stark contrast.
However the game is just fun and silly with overall good storytelling even if it didn’t quite hit the emotional highs/lows I crave.
I hope you enjoy the game because there will be so much content for you to explore as far as how the storylines interweave and the choices that change the story.

Dude, the game is so, so different. The first chapter is way, way better, especially with the Nautaloid being really quick, getting you right into the game proper.
I felt the same way about the burnout, but the changes are so, so deep my reservations were gone within 30 minutes. Literally.
Seriously, it's the same game, but at the same time, wicked different. I'd also recommend starting on Explorer mode for the beginning of Act 1 (the first hour or so) then switch all the way up to tactician, then drop to adventurer for the Goblin camp and just leave it there for the rest of the game unless there is a battle that just keeps wrecking you.
As for your kid, I certainly wish you the best. Nothing is more important than your children, so just do your best.
As for BG3, I really believe you will have a change of heart when you see how many things in the game are completely different and/or streamlined/just done better in the final release. Even the giant mob fights have been _trimmed_ down. It was like Larian used Early Access to see what people's systems *and* psyches could handle, and 35 enemy fights were one of the things that got left on the cutting room floor. Seriously, give it a go when you feel up to it. To say you'll be pleasantly surprised is probably a drastic understatement. Btw, I am 170+ hours into my first real playthrough after having over 200 in Early Access. They got me right off the rip by making the nautiloid section a very quick tutorial as opposed to a tedious journey.

I'll still be here no matter how often you upload, sending good vibes your way and rewatching old videos. Even if it's something I've seen before, sometimes it inspires me to try (and possibly discover) something new. My partner recently pointed out to me that for someone who isn't a content creator, I probably have enough game time in The Witcher 3 to rival some people who do it as their main thing. I just really enjoy the world and finding all the weird little things in it, whether that means interesting little tidbits of lore or fun and freaky ways to glitch the game.
Since you brought it up, I'd also just like to say I'd definitely be interested in videos on the books. With the level of attention and detail you bring to the table, I have to imagine watching you do videos on the books would feel a lot like being back in school. BG3 as of now is in a awkward position. Better wait a year or two for the enhanced edition. And well, yea, BG3 has a very weird balancing.
Warriors trample every other class in terms of damage output. They do 3 attacks per round at max level, and most likely by that time you would have 20-23 strength and a heavy twig that does 30-40 damage per each swing.
Spells in BG3 are also weird because of the concentration system and awful casting DND5e introduced (where they blended wizard and sorcerer together so almost nothing is left from each class). As for concentration - there's haste - character affected by it gets a second action. The problem is that when the concentration of haste is broken (or haste is naturally removed) the character becomes fatigued and skips a turn. Would I want to roll that gamble? Nope, I would prefer to Hold Person/Hold Monster and make my warrior 100% crit the enemy 2 times which would for sure kill the target. In that case I wouldn't even need a second action. And I don't have to roll the concentration checks and I would just recast hold person again if enemies actually try to break the concentration. It's only a level 2 spell compared to lvl 3(?) haste.
Where BG3 feels completely awful though is feats. Feats are so bad it's insane. I remember NWN1-2 feats. They were great, the metamagics (which in DND5e migrated to sorcerers exclusively - dumb), dual wield combat, weapon proficiency which expands beyond just one tier, improved criticals and so on. And in BG3:
    1) Get two cantrips of a class. (Why would you even want to spend your feat on that? Not talking about spell sniper);
    2) Get an ability to wear medium armor or a weapon proficiency (Why can I choose it as a Warrior, because of +1 stat? This feat is literally obsolete as I can choose +2 stats).
    3) Dual Wielder is also beyond awful since dual wielding in this game is trash as an attack with the offhand requires a bonus action.
While I like the versatility BG3 offers because you get the ability to throw potions and they do full effect on break it literally renders cleric almost obsolete. Casting scrolls is another thing. Why would a barbarian be able to use scrolls? In the past it was only rogue/bard could do that besides the spell casters. So this whole thing leads to a final problem - barbarian+warrior only comp would perform better in 90% of the combats. They have health, they have consistent damage, they have high AC, they have more actions than other classes since throw becomes a bonus action for barb and warrior has surge and they don't need a full rest to be efficient. I've visited DND website after beating the game because I wondered whose fault was that - Wizards' or Larian's and it feels like it was mostly a bad design from the Wizards'. The only thing Larian's could be blamed for is 3rd act where the game barely holds up and the cap of lvl12 (meaning 6 lvl spells are the highest) makes casters never outshine melee classes. You can buy the dev talk "lore-wise 7+ lvl spells are godlike" but in fact most of them aren't just read what 7+ spells say. The real thing was that they needed to release the game in 2023, not later. And there's a very distinct feel going from act 1 to act 2 to act 3 in terms of quality.
Hopefully Larian will make a good developer kit for the modders. And one last thing - having no DM mode feels awful for a game like this. NWN1 had construction kit which was very easy to get into which I used to create small custom modules when I was 12. NWN2 had it too, but was too hard for me at that time (it was real 3d for landscape, not tile based). And it's a feature that needs to be there in a DND game.
Anyway, I blame DND5e for most of BG3's balancing problems. NWN1 had good progression system and great buff system, NWN2 only improved on that and those games were 3e and 3.5e. But I bet that playing 3e and 3.5e in a board version was a pain when compared to playing 5e but it worked just right for the videogame format.

The only game that has managed to fully grab me and not let go until the end since the Witcher 3 was the Outer Wilds. You should give it a try, I can't recommend it enough.

I think I was in a similar "Witcher Hole"(?) after i finished it multiple times. The newer games just didn't do it. There was something missing, the world didn't feel right, couldn't connect to the characters, the combat etc.
The only i experienced this before was after i finished me3.
Anyway, the game that got me out of the hole was Eldenring. Tbh at first it didn't really click with me. I played it like 10h and it felt kinda dull. I didn't play the game for about a month and then gave it another shot.
And i must say something magically changed after that time, i made some progress got more comfortable with the fights and gameplay. I really enjoy the game. Still do.
If i would need to recommend u one game, currently it would be eldenring.

About comparing everything to the Witcher 3... I think I do the same thing. Ever since the Witcher 3 I never played a game for the story. Because it just can't and won't be as good.
(Except Skyrim maybe but that's for nostalgia and the mods. And I downloaded Geralt as a follower there, so that says something 💀)
I don't know what can be done about that. I guess I just put everything aside and try to enjoy the game for what it is. But tbh I'd rather just read the witcher books instead of playing a bad game. 😅
I want you to know whatever you do, we will support you. ❤ You are my favourite youtuber, you made me replay this amazing game again and again and your high quality, funny and interesting videos were able to take my mind away from all the trouble going on in my life.

About the romance part in BG3 I must agree... actually I hate it.
The impression I get is that EVERYONE there is bisexual, that they are all ready to have sex with our character at any moment. This really bothers me in an RPG game. Romance should be restricted depending on your race and gender. Having sex with a bear is the height of ridicule. The developers cared a lot about pleasing a weird minority, I guess. Anyway.
Other than that, I'm loving the game.

I feel it similarly about BG3. I tried it once in EA and i couldn´t get over the roll system. I was like "wtf is this". I also don´t like turn-based combat. In the end, even if the game itself might be good, if basic systems in it are broken or lead to repeated feeling of frustration, that is not a good game for me. There are also reports of it being broken/buggy in later stages of the game, along some combat balance issues.
The thing is, you don´t have to do, what people want you to do. Do, what you like, for as long, as you want to.

I went off BG on BG 2. BG 1 was great. You could walk just about everywhere. Then out came two, with its pulled by the nose. Down a track. With very little options to go everywhere. Got through, Throne of Bhaal. And then thought it had finished. It was only when BG3 came out I found out there'd been a few more.
My first look at BG 3. My thought was not for me. Trails and trails and trails.
I'm not attracted to Cyberpunk. For me it's just another shoot em up. Too close to what's happening today.
I'm a bows and sword with enough magic to light a smoke. OK and blow someone up.
So, I too went back to Witcher 3, Been there since 2015 1.02, (loaded it to hammer Willis again. Just for fun. Last year) 1.32 and 4.04. Not fussed on 4.04. I expected the same game and got a ring in. Then I got the pip. So still playing 1.32 changed it up this time by playing new game plus.
With side dishes of Horizon Zero Dawn (Newgame plus Level 916, because I can. And I still like the game. The sudden encounters when running through the maps. Brilliant.), Skyrim LE.
I like the open worlds. Not fussed on HZD'd don't go there signs. If I can walk it I want to go there. Or having to bunny hop in W3 to get up hills.
And as of yet no game has ever come out with the 1st/3rd person Bethesda has. Which is a p off because 1st is my 1st choice. I get p'd when my heads in a hill or behind a leaf when I trying to shoot something.
Honestly, I have never wandered around anywhere, looking at a mirror in my hand focused on a mirror on a stick over my shoulder. To see where I am going or what I am trying to shoot.
One of two things Bethesda did right. And better than any other game studio is the, 1st/3rd person view and the games themselves. Allowing Bethesda's betters to iron out the wrinkles and creating fantastic mods. Which they did.
Forgot did Hogwarts legacy a few times. But tired of it quickly. I go back into my last save to have a blat on the broom though. Still enjoy that. It's the closest I 've come to since trail riding motor bikes through the forestry plantations in Brisbane. Falling off doesn't hurt as much :-)
I got Kingdom Come Deliverance on Friday. For something different to play. After reading a bit about it, I'm not sure I'm bright enough to play it. Looks BlDy complicated?
I hope your youngster has come right.
    Look after yourself.

I'll take some holidays in September and I'll definitely give BG3 a try. I can definitely see what you mean by it being too "flashy" and with Marvel levels of awesomeness. The original saga from the turn of the century did that better: the beginning of BG1 was quite gritty, both in terms of challenges (a bear! run!) and atmosphere (noir-ish political plot), but by the end of ToB you had powercrept into insane levels of epicness. That feeling of ascending to godhood... that was something.

Just to preface the wall of text incoming: I have roughly 400 hours on The Witcher III (4 full playthroughs) and I'm about to hit the 650 hours mark on BG3 (3 and a half playthroughs + Early access)
I love both games, but they are very different and comparing them is not the play, imo. The witcher III is much smaller in "story scope" since there is only 1 protagonist, while BG3 has like 7 with countless variations (like race and class). This means that if you start comparing it 1 to 1 with The Witcher, BG3 kinda crumbles.
The fact that The Witcher had just Geralt to focus on (and made a GREAT job of making you care about him) means that they had so much room to work on small details, worldbuilding and storytelling (whitch is what made the game so good, imo). This does not happen in BG3. The amount of variation that there can be in the main character alone means that the overall story has to be shallower, but it is what it is.
BG3 also fails (or doesn't attempt to) deliver a medieval atmosphere, since you might be fighting with swords and bows, but there is a "California-Beach" vibe across the game, whitch is a negative in my book.
Lastly, I dislike how BG3 sprinkles a lot surface-level political messages, which I find a little on-the-nose (even tho I might agree with the statements in general). The witcher III has a much deeper overall scope in meaning, with simpler but eternal values.
With that said BG3 promises A LOT of permutations, a LOT of little hidden areas and small stories and defenetly delivers. Like I said I'm half-way through my 4rth playthrough and in each of them I found new content (from cutscenes, to areas I didnt notice or even small notes that give context on what is happening in the game). The feeling of exploration and figuring out how things might play out is there to stay and I appriciate that a lot. The fact that you can get to explore the story from different perspectives is super cool, and allows the player to gather insight on all the powers at play, one playthrough at the time, giving them a better idea of what is at stake for everyone. The variation really goes to another level, everything considered.
Andother very strong point in favour of BG3 are in-game mechanics. Character building and itemization are quite deep (which was one of the main fails of the Witcher, imo). In 4 playthroughs I've never played the same class (or combination of classes) twice, and you have 4 party members. That's super fun if you're into minmaxing and defenetly gives a lot of replayability.
Given the way I saw you play The Witcher, going over every nock and cranny, trying to figure mysteries and such I think that you might really enjoy BG3 if you give it time to get into you, but you must keep in mind that it has different highlights from The Witcher. For me I defenetly appriciate it more the more I play.
If you had the patience to read all of that ur a bro. (It's so long, I'm sorry😂)
Best of luck to your little one!

People who played Early access made the ulitimate sacrifice. After a month of BG3 - the game is epic. In terms of RPG - there is not other game that lets you ROLE PLAY as your character to such an extent. Other games give you some lines about your "custom" character, BG3 - literally everything revoles and changes aroud who you play as. That being said, the game does have some flaws - such as Act 3 being not as polished, as well some of the companions. But overall there is a reason other studios had to come out and say - this is too much, don't expect it to become the standard.
