Changing from Bridgestones to Apollo is a huge downgrade. AT tyres hi lene the to Michelin, Yokohama, Bridgestone, Pirelli ya Continental inme se kisi ka le sakte the. You didn’t have to pay anything for the tyres because you exchanged higher quality tyres for lower quality ones.

If you think Apterras are downgrade you need to do your homework and read about them on the Apollo website because you don't know shit about tyres. And choosing Yokohamas over Apollo would be a big blunder because the geolanders are notorious for sidewall tears. Even experienced off roaders like Anshuman Bishnoi's group have had bad experience with these tyres. Michelin/Pirelli will definitely be a good pick but availability could be an issue given the import ban in India.

I have seen people taking their Swift, Figo, i20, and many small cara to Leh Ladakh from Delhi.
None of them changed tyres to all terrain.
It's more about how good you can drive and within what budget you can enjoy your travel.

What a downgrade !! I mean from great Bridgestone tires to Apollo !! The only worthy replacements for Bridgestone are either Yokohama Geolander AT or Michelin AT. I have used all 3 brands in both my Fortuner's over the last 6-7 years and they are superb. Vikash makes such poor and impulsive decisions !! tyre noise (huge impact), tyre wear, longevity, braking, grip all goes for a toss in these cheap and useless MRF and Apollo tyres !! Toyota gives really good tyres in Fortuner and he went ahead and destroyed it....Ab hai Karol Bagh ki baari tabahi machane ki !! And now he will complain about avg as tyre size has gone up with increased friction and weight plus he will destroy his shockers due the higher unsprung mass of the new tyre as well as lower ride quality...
P.S - The shop owner must be laughing away like crazy, what a profit. One bridgestone tyre costs 18k...roz kahan milte hain aise log..

You could have tried Yokohama geolander A/T G015 275/60R18 as an upgrade or of same stock size. Yokohama compound is said to be better and silent. Anyway good that you opted for stock size in AT tyres.Enjoy your drive. 💐

Geolanders are notorious for sidewall tear and Vikas should definitely stay away from these given the torture his Fortuner will go through 😝.

Brother i am using same tyres on my fortuner 4x4 and i have driven 30k kms on these apollo and my honest review is they suck big time their ride quality on highway is pathetic cabin noise bhi zaada aayegi steering bhi vibrate hoga braking main stability reduce hogi if you put air pressure more than 29-30 car will jump alot not worth the upgrade i am regretting myself .
Imagine if you were killed on road by a one handed Fortuner youtuber because he had a phone in his other hand 😡😡😡

Sir your suspension will go for a toss… I have a fortuner and my tyres ran 285. I had to replace my suspension. Weight increased by 30 Kg over all on suspension. Use standard size 265…
Please watch the video again. He did try 285 size but it was rubbing against the suspension so he didn't fit that size. He has fitted the same size as stock tyres.

FYI, proper way of installing wider tyres is to either use -ve offset rims or wheel spacers (the tyre dealer should have pointed it out to you).
Someone mentioned you have downgraded from a Bridgestone to an Apollo, which is correct. Bridgestone's have a global ranking of 4 after Michellin, Pirelli's, and Continental.
Bridgestone's will give you better mileage, fuel consumption, and will be quieter on the road.
Fortuner is definitely capable off-road on those Bridgestone's. Most of your drive will be on road so why change them.
