Y’all are doing the right thing keeping each other silly and laughing. Life can be heavy but if you have a partner who can lighten the mood, you are blessed!
I just found your channel by seeing that beautiful little chunker recommendation of his birth. I’m so sorry you are going through all this now and want you to know you’ve been added to another prayer list, my husband and I will include you and your husband and family in our dailies. I will light a candle as well at Church. It struck me how incredibly painfully beautiful it was to see you nurse your baby after surgery. I have no idea what kind of purpose this serves but my faith tells me it does have purpose. When I saw your video after getting the results of your child’s genetic testing and you said- I’m just grateful that he’s mine, if a child has to be born with this, then it was from me who will let him live his life as he is meant to. My heart ❣ and soul felt you. (Husband is a Graves’ disease survivor- they knocked out his thyroid with a radioactive iodine pill- the effects of this disorder has been broad and he was diagnosed with another endocrine disorder soon after, diabetes. So we emphatically understand how broad and messy this becomes as you play whackamole with getting all your levels aligned. I won’t lie, living without a thyroid is not an easy journey but it’s manageable. Stay hopeful.)
Oh...I am SO glad you got to nurse your gorgeous baby boy, Lucy! :) He looked so very happy at being able to share time with his Mama! You are doing so well- just keep the faith as you have been doing. Prayers ongoing. Love & Light to You, Joel & the Children! xx
Good to know that your surgery is over and done with and you are now in the recovery process ! I personally had surgery for hyper parathyroidism about 20+ years ago, when it was done the old fashioned way for a total 4 1/2 hour surgery. During the surgery they found one problem gland and removed it and in the process, which can happen, I lost all of my other parathyroid glands. Which left me now with HYPOparathroidism, so now I have been taking Calcitriol daily to help control my calcium count. I am thinking that perhaps this is what happened to you, you lost your parathyroid glands in the surgery as they are so tiny that they were inadvertently removed. Your doctor should know about this ! I wish you the best of luck with your recovery and return to your normal life with your beautiful family ! Hugs 🤗 and Prayers 🙏
Also, I had vocal cord vocal cord paresis where my left vocal cord was paralyzed for 3-4 months a few years ago. Your doctor should prescribe Speech Therapy to help you recover your sweet voice once more. Best wishes for the future !
I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this. :( Praying for you and your family Lucy! I’m so glad you have each other. It’s weird that I found your RUclips videos during your pregnancy with Kacen, and have been watching them ever since. I feel like I know you, but I have to remind myself that I don’t. RUclips is weird like that. I appreciate your sense of humor and your personality. :)
One thing I thought was interesting back when I worked at a hospital is how deep the JP drains are! Atleast the ones I saw after patients had abdominal surgery. If you don't already, put some medical tape around the tubing with excess hanging off so you can safety pin it to your shirt. Prayers for quick recovery! ♡
My grandfather had surgery to save his lower leg & foot and I took the drain out for him (I have zero medical experience, but I'm really good at researching 😂). But the opening was on his lower leg, and I kept pulling and pulling, and didn't think it would ever end! Apparently, it was all they way up near the groin. He's 81 years old and still works full-time by choice, not necessity, so thank God he didn't have to have the amputation that his first doctor was insisting on because it would've broken his spirit. The Cleveland Clinic did it and they were great!
I have hashimotos and being completely off dairy, sugar, gluten and nightshade changed my life. It’s so hard though. It’s so hard but it’s so important. I had 4 endocrinologists and none of them recommended that. I wish they had or my health would have improved so much, so long ago.
I have feeding tube in my nose, and we(doctors and I) was nervous about her accidentally pulling it out. Wouldn’t hurt me physically but it’s a pain to go get one back in at the hospital 45 mins away. But she touches it and pets my cheek it’s taped on but no close calls in the 80 days of having this.
The Tums post op I took 2 every time I felt numbness plus my scheduled doses the smoothie flavored tums were better I thought. They want your head up to decrease swelling. My surgeon doesn't do drains post thyroidectomy so hopefully they remove yours quickly.
Unfortunately it is so hard to get regulated even with just hypothyroid Hashimotos. There are places to look for doctors who will also prescribe t3 (if they aren’t already ) and not just t4 if you look on Isabella Wentz website or in some of the thyroid groups u can look for a doctor who will. I am so sorry u had to go through this !
I am recently diagnosed as like 6 months ago and my doctor changed me from levo to synthroid with t3 and t4 because I came back and told him I was still tired but my numbers where slightly lower then normal so he didnt want to increase my meds to much but instead but my on synthroid to make sure i was getting both
Hugs… it’s a very slow process getting your levels straight. They will up the dose for 6 months then lower it….. it’s difficult to adjust. I learned I was allergic to the generic levothyroxine. I have to pay for the brand name. The generic gave me migraines. Sending you prayers.
yes unfortunately adjusting thyroid meds does take a long while...sigh....and my dr. also does not allow me to take any generic form of my thyroid meds either. He says you need the real deal with thyroid meds...the generic ones use a lot of fillers. So glad you are doing so well,,,your incision looks amazing...and scarves do become your bestest friend for awhile...praying for your continued success in moving forward.
It sounds like you have vocal cord parentheses which lasted for me 3-4 months and you will need Speech Therapy to regain your vocal strength and get your full voice back ! I know because I had VCP a few years ago where the left vocal cord gets temporarily paralyzed. Your doctor should be recommending ST for you ! God Bless You and your beautiful family ❤️
I am so sorry You are going through this and I know all too well that "Gee, if I close my eyes, someone is going to come to draw Blood from Me, change My IV, look at my Incision." you name it. Mine isn't cancer, HCM/Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Lucy, You are in my thoughts tonight. From Ontario Canada. The Drain tubes are not fun at all. You also have a Beautiful Family.
I am so happy that you are getting out of there! There is nothing like your own bed! You 2 crack me up Thank God you have each other! Try and get rest I know that might be a little hard when you are home with all of the kiddos now I see why they told Joel to take 2 weeks off of work you are def going to need his help! I am praying for you and I will ask at church tomm for special prayer for you and I will light a candle! Love and light to you and Joel and your children!
Bless your collective hearts, all of you down to the tiniest littles. I had 4 daughters in 5 years many years ago and i dealt with a disability and it was very overwhelming. I cannot imagine what all of you are going through. I will need to look up your blood disease with Protein S Deficiency. I have never heard of that one. All our 4 daughters and I were diagnosed several years ago with Protein C Deficiency. One by one we found out when one daughter had many clots in her leg (DVT) and was diagnosed, then another had a pulmonary embolism when 3 mos along in her pregnancy and she was visiting in our home, then diagnosed, then another daughter had a PE, and diagnosed, then i had one a PE and diagnosed. We only have one daughter without DVD or PEs but she gets severe migraines. That is concerning. I am going to subscribe to your channel and i pray you get the help you need. I will be praying for all of you. ❤️❤️
I have never heard of protein c deficiency until now. I'll have to do the same, and look it up. Protein S (for me) has caused debilitating menstrual cycles ever since my very first one. Vomiting in pain the first 2 days of every cycle, sporadic cycles, HEAVYYYYY cycles, long cycles, lots of cyst, huge clots, etc.
My husband has a terminal illness that effects the throat. Soups and mash potatoes and stuffing and mashed sweet potatoes ect help. If he eats anything that is not a soup he eats things with gravy. Creamed chicken and biscuits are great. There is a powder that thickens things but he did not like it. He was given three years to live but he is on year ten. There are lots of ways to turn your favorite foods into the right consistency. We us a lot of corn starch to make gravy’s and sauces, he cannot eat things without it . Much love and prayers. It is so very hard to be a parent and be sick but you must take care of yourself. Your kiddos need you. And I have learned the hard way that you have to set pride aside and ask for help from friends and family and neighbors. We have neighbors do mowing ect . I could do it but my husband and kids needs all of my energy when he is having a flare even if someone is In helping him.
I've been in the hospital many times, they have to take vitals every so often. They are just trying to take care of you..trying praying.. your journey is going to take awhile to heal.. you are blessed, try to focus on the good in your life. The blessings of being able to bring your baby to the hospital, to have your husband with you. Many had to go through surgical procedures and cancer treatment alone, because of restrictions. Just be blessed you have a good medical team, that cares enough to check on you. People think hospitals are a place to rest,it's not. It's when you get home..stay strong, you had 8 babies, you can do this.
I too have been in the hospital countless times, and yes, vitals are for your best interest, it’s not just for hospital liability purposes. Vitals used to not be done as frequently, but they’ve learned through the years that consistent vitals lead to better outcomes, and it helps to catch things early, as often times the beginning stages of something going downhill isn’t immediately noticeable based on feeling alone. I’ve experienced vitals beginning to crash without me feeling it yet, and only knew because of regular vital checks, so they really are doing it for valid reasons. It’s definitely annoying, especially when you’re so exhausted and just want to be left alone, but they are just trying to make sure you’re ok.
Bless your heart Lucy. I wish I could help in a big way with your go fund me, but my spouse and I are on a fixed income which keeps us on a very strict budget... what I CAN do is pray that those who are able DO fund you in a very big way. And I personally can lift you up in prayer continually. So did the biopsy show cancer Lucy, or Hashimoto's thyroiditis? Big difference.
Just a fyi I was exhausted and sleeping and napping so much the day after my surgery to remove my gallbladder. Anesthesia affects you for weeks after and add in your body healing itself. Relax and accept that you need to rest constantly. 🙏
I'm bad at taking pills, so I have 5-6 pill crushers that I rotate through. I once took pain meds post-wisdom-tooth removal in cottage cheese, and couldn't eat cottage cheese for years. I've found that the thing that works best for me is sweet liquid - juice or soda. Masks the taste of the crushed-up pill.
I had a blood bag twice after both my 2 spine surgeries and I never even noticed it! I think I only had them about 5-6 days both times! I was in hospital both times 8 days and I didn’t eat the entire time both times I was too sick! They didn’t come check me that often every few hours unless I call for them! What made me annoyed was after my second surgery middle of the night I’d hear someone opening my door flashing a flash light and then leave! At one point I asked what they wanted was just to check if I was okay and sleeping not even for vitals or anything! First surgery my first night in a normal room I was in semi private room but was alone at 1am they wake me up to see if I’m okay sharing with a guy I’m like don’t really have a choice where else where he go? And he was bed bound he’d scream if they tried getting him to walk! I was always annoyed being woken up in that middle of the night
I hate hospitals... They check on you every second and your supposed to be resting and healing!! How do you heal when they went let sleep!!! Hang in there guys, this will all be a bad dream soon❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hello good night I wish you all the best and hope you recover God is protecting you and I wish all the best for you and your family big hugs Roberta from Brazil.❤️
