The Streisand Effect is a psychological effect where the more someone tries to Censor, Dismiss, or Ridicule something, the more attention they draw to it, making the problem even more noticeable, turning a molehill into a mountain. It's basically reverse psychology with regards to publicity. The name is derived from a photograph that scientists in California tried to distribute as evidence of soil erosion affecting coastlines, which coincidentally also contained the image of property owned by singer and actor Barbara Streisand, who (upon being informed that people were publishing images of one of her estates) tried to convince the scientists to take down the image, and then went on to try and censor the photograph when that didn't work, which led to it becoming a news story at the time, making people more interested in it, making EVERYONE see the photo of her house. In short: they hated on this cheap, joyless cashgrab so hard, it backfired spectacularly, making it _MORE_ popular. "Popularity" does not always equal "Good" or "Quality," it just means that something has garnered a lot of attention. People tried to tear into it when the devs released the first chapter; the devs released a second chapter. People raged against the second chapter; a THIRD one is now in the works. The more we try to kill it, the stronger we end up making it!
The line “You can’t make any friends in five” is actually a reference/jab at a game one of the BanBan devs have made prior, where the player has to get a school shooter friends within five days or they would “take action” against the school (which was intentionally made impossible as there was no way to actually stop the shooter).
i actually adore how despite how uneducated you were on the topic you STILL tried to ACTUALLY listen to the message of this song instead of just seeing it as a meaningless "banger" you caught on faster than most people and i respect you for that
As far as I know, it is a combination of poppy playtime, FNAF, and a few other indie horror games created just to be a cash grab. I'm not an expert, tho.

Which is why I think people need to know when to draw attention to something and when not to. Like sometimes it’s best to ignore, sometimes it’s not
