    One thing I love about drawing with ballpoint pens, is that you can make mistakes without it looking too weird and you can't change it anyways once it's on the page.

    I think that my biggest problem with ballpoint pens is that their ink isn't light-fast at all, and they do fade badly, unlike graphite or India ink. I do also really love sketching with them, though.

    • @JelArts

      @@sutil5078 - It is strange, since their ink is so dark, and they are a unique sketching tool, but they're definitely not lightfast. I've seen many tests online, as well as experiencing it myself.

    i freakin love sketching in ball point pen, the crappier and scratchier the better! There's something about it that makes me go straight to thinking about values and just drawing stuff where it needs to go instead of like trying to undersketch too much. I've been using them in a doodle book (it's a bullet journal that i don't bullet journal in lol) because I don't feel guilty about using the mixed media paper in my sketch book for not mixed media. And doing more free sketching like that has definitely helped me a lot!

    Wow I FELT that block in this video which is tough. I usually struggle most right after a major creative project.
    Ironically, sketching freely w/ ballpoint (or other) is usually how I get my next idea. Like that top right bunny girl pose is awesome. Actually you really inspired me w/ ideas of like... animal people? I guess...
    I’ve really been sucked into digital right now but my best sketches came from pen and there’s something intuitive about specifically ballpoint. Really should sketch traditionally w/ them again. Thank you!

    I really like them for loose, scribbly style drawings. You can just do quick, light lines all over the place until you settle in on where the darkest line should be, then push hard. Then you've got all those extra scribbly lines that you can either use for shading or just let them give your drawing a cool look.

    I love to draw with ball points. Most ball point pens are not waterproof. Uniball Signo is a common one that is. Other Uniballs are not waterproof for instance Uniball BLX. Pilot and Pentel smear a lot with water which can make a nice effect. Bic pens are not called waterproof but they have awesome holding power in water hardly smearing at all.

    Hey hello! I didn't finish the video yet but I really like it ( I like drawing with ballpoint pen too). But I noticed that, as a left handed (I'm left handed too, we're going to rule someday muahaha) you hide some sketches with your hand and watchers (sorry english is not my first language, i don't know if it's the right word) can't see the "finished" piece before you get to an other one (like the first rabbit girl). You're filling the pages just like you write : left to right, but as you're not writing you don't need to do it in that ordre. Try filling it right to left so people can see the final result of the sketch :3 ! Well, you obviously don't have to :'3 have a good day !

    To do clean line art you really have to press hard or stroke multiple times. Same if you want clean solid hatching lines. It is probably why your hand hurts. It’s also why I am not the biggest fan of it. I do like seeing other people using it though, especially for realistic drawings.

    • @silverdirtdraws9828
      @silverdirtdraws9828 5 лет назад

      If you want a clean solid line you simply use a better ball point :) i use bic gelocity ballpoint pens, theyre not so good for shading but they lay down such a nice juicy line (which is what my art calls for), its amazing.
      I paid 5 bucks for a two pack, and i can get cheap refills of another brand (thats just as good if not better. Cant remember the name) for 1.7 per refill

    • @silverdirtdraws9828
      @silverdirtdraws9828 5 лет назад +1

      It forces you to just go with the flow. Its not meant for layered artwork its meant for sketching!
      Most of my improvement came from when i picked up a pen and couldnt erase. I was forced to either incorporate my mistakes or learn fast how not to do that again.
