Alright- let me put it into perspective for you. You go to a restaurant and they have these large blue glass bottles that they serve you water out of. You’re not in the best seating in the restaurant, not one with a good view of anything other than the kitchen. But at least it’s good in a sense that you get to see your food coming as you have a directly line of sight to the kitchen. Imagine that you see your waiter grab a blue glass bottle from the kitchen and serve you some water before handing you the menus and informing them that he’ll be back to take your order in just a few minutes. You watch him go back to the kitchen, and just before coming back out, you watch him drink from one of those blue bottles- one very similar to the one he just brought you. You think “oh did he drink out of our bottle of water before we were seated?” And are immediately repulsed. This is what happened at that restaurant. He wasn’t drinking out of his personal water bottle- which in and of itself is something that shouldn’t be done in front of the customer in the first place- HE DRANK OUT OF CUSTOMER WATER, in front of the customer. These restaurants use carafes- he drank out of a carafe meant to be put at customer’s tables to be drank in front of the customers themselves. The fact that he only accepted partial blame is disgusting.

@Don Jones there was nothing dumb about it lmao. He was going in and out of a Hotass kitchen and probably wasn’t thinking. At the same time it’s Gordon’s multi-million dollar grand opening and he understood that, 50-50 makes perfect sense
He drank in front of customers and off a bottle. Normally waiters drink tap water and discretely. He was drinking a bottle of badoit in front of a table even though the overall service was a mess.
I feel very sorry for the waiter. He was crying on his way out, saying Gordon was the best chef he ever worked for. He repeated that to the cameras, said Gordon gets a little crazy sometimes but he's an amazing chef. Also, when asked if Gordon was right to sack him, he said 50-50 so saying he definitely shared some blame. I just wanna hug the poor guy, hope he got a good job after that.
It was the guys fault tbh. Those restaurants have standards and to be fair, the guy knew what the standards were. However, I don't think he should've been sacked over it personally.

"We play world cup" lmao you take reservations, get a grip
@@dieyoung maybe you did, I am a
Maitre/ sommelier there is more to it then just taking reservations
I'm convinced Gordon Ramsey is the reality of "The Thing" from Fantastic Four. He's a hard man. Lol

,,Was Gordon right to sack you?,, Answer: ,,50-50!,, That was a very subjective answer! 🤨
@Don Jones he didnt meant it to be profound.... he said it twice just to be clear cuz of his accent
@Don Jones there was nothing dumb about it lmao. He was going in and out of a Hotass kitchen and probably wasn’t thinking. At the same time it’s Gordon’s multi-million dollar grand opening and he understood that, 50-50 makes perfect sense
How dare that employee drink water
Gordon: “If you’re gonna die of dehydration, don’t do it in front of the customers!”
He drank in front of customers and off a bottle. Normally waiters drink tap water and discretely. He was drinking a bottle of badoit in front of a table even though the overall service was a mess.
haha my old gym teacher is like "mean" as gordon :P
he grabed students and screamed at us xD
but we just laught at him xD

I feel very sorry for the waiter. He was crying on his way out, saying Gordon was the best chef he ever worked for. He repeated that to the cameras, said Gordon gets a little crazy sometimes but he's an amazing chef. Also, when asked if Gordon was right to sack him, he said 50-50 so saying he definitely shared some blame. I just wanna hug the poor guy, hope he got a good job after that.
It was the guys fault tbh. Those restaurants have standards and to be fair, the guy knew what the standards were. However, I don't think he should've been sacked over it personally.
Should work in a regular restaurant then gotta have extreme standards that’s what people pay for
It was absolutely savage man. I get that this was filmed during a time in the restaurant industry where chefs with Gordon’s temperament were the norm, and he has standards to uphold and blah blah blah. But come on… The lad was crying ffs. Can you not just give him a bollocking, tell him to never do it again or he will get sacked, and to make sure he comes in tomorrow, clean slate, and works his arse off?
@@rsb8380 u do understand this was for his Michelin star that he had worked his whole career for
@@mogenvonbogel7342 Yes I’m well aware of his past, and the context within which this clip is taking place… And he had already earned two Michelin stars by this point, this was the period where he was working towards getting his third.
500$ a week during the 90s
Good thing he's not in construction. He'd be rolled around the job site like an old rug!

'Drinking from a bottle of water, straight from the mouth'... from what orifice do you normally drink, Gordon?
He just means he didn’t put it in a cup
Who puts water from a bottle into a fucking cup... thats why its in a bottle.
@@Karadaun Read this from another comment, but apparently the bottle was meant to pour water for customers.
@@Karadaun It just looks trashy and is bad etiquette. Restaurants can be some of the worst places to work in, especially if your boss is a dick. Fucking so glad im out.

Zealox Pandemic got me fucked up
Nah he's thinner
This is business Gordon cares about the customers more than the staff he treats every customer like VIPS so if someone is standing there drinking water it looks bad it reflects a bad image on his business / restaurant. Gordon has probably invested so much time effort energy into these places to help them or build them up from scratch thats why he gets so angry when chefs around him cant do simple tasks / etiquette he has a short fuse
F him, look at Marco p w, he kicked people out for being rude. Not the staff
@@internetmemeplace6886 Gordon's kicked people out for being rude, too. You really think MPW let his staff do whatever they wanted?
1:13 reminds me of a GTA 5 cutscene when you switch to a new character.
GTA 6 : UK Edition
Starting: Ramsay firing waiter for drinking water. You walk out of the alley, and then start to do illegal shit lol
@@MircomFanThat would be a cool storyline😂
1:13 I love how you can't even see them in that shot🤣
Wait, he got fired because customers saw him drink water? Am I missing something?
The waiter was drinking straight from the bottle that he was using to serve the customers. Das nasty.
@@Caelomonepoeia Okay this I can understand, I though he got fired from just drinking water, if it was from the bottle that he serve the customer then I can understand why Gordon got mad
@Kachow I guess we need more context. If there were still tasks to do and he wasn't rushing his drink, then yeah, he's a lazy bugger.
@@Caelomonepoeia No, lol. He was drinking from a bottle in front of customers you don't do that you drink behind somewhere where they cant see you. Imagine a Michelin star judge coming in and seeing a waiter chug a bottle of water in view while eating, that is not acceptable. He did not drink out of a bottle of water that he was serving with come on.

Sacked for drinking water? The young guy could taken his arse to employment court.
That foreigner can't do his work properly only drinking water front of the consumers.
500 a week? Man give me that job
500 a week in 1997, that shit is a lot
I'm sure this isn't the best way to do it but. . .
£500 = $669.05
$669.05 in 1995 = $1,142.43 today in 2020. (According to the US Inflation Calculator.)
That's more than I make and I bust my ass off in a machine shop. Clearly I'm in the wrong trade.
That's not bad
0:02 he looks like a manikin
So true
I couldn't do it, I love Gordon but I could never work in a kitchen and deal with the heat and the perfectness of a 3 star chef.
So skinny normal sized humans are fat now? Alright then Gordon
@steveoplacebo
That's because most restaurants are trash with weak standards and poor quality food.
I would go out on a limb and say that the vast majority of restaurants take the "whatever, it's good enough" mentality.
People need to embrace Gordon Ramsays approach that nothing but absolute perfection is acceptable. Too many lazy fuckers out there trying to cut corners; it's sad really.
I know the US never ever asked for a BBC America ffs
Keep that sort of thing to yourself Kez
