Ooh. I wish I could stumble on one of those in a dark corner of a pawnshop.

It was actually a light corner of a guitar show. They also had a very flakey Edwards but that had a sold tag on it.
The Greco EG 800 in my JSM LP shootout video was in a dark corner of a Cash Converters, which is as close to a pawn shop as we get here. Kedal Pajak here are only interested in gold and jewellery so not places for guitar hunting 😎

I have what looks to be the LP1000, can you date it?
You seem pretty knowledgeable on these.
    Serial number 907316
    Tiger flame top.
    Many thanks Colin

No expert here. However, I had a quick look at the serial number faq on the Yamaha USA Web site (faq.yamaha.com/usa/s/article/U0004095) and it looks like that number best fits the serial number range for 1983.
Otherwise it fits the "System E5" pattern, where the first digit "9" indicates 1999 and the next two digits "07" would indicate July, but I think they stopped making the copies in the late 80's.

@omikl oh, it's older than that
The truss rod is like a gibson nut type.
Will send some photos if you like 👍

@omikl the closest thing I found was a LP800C on Reverb from 1979 with identical pickups and pots but can't verify the date on the LP800C 😢
      Anyway, thanks for your reply
      Great channel 👏
