  • Hi folks, its time to get going on hole-daze, or vacation - but I'm taking six weeks off in a far off land (aka NZ) so I won't be back at the modelling bench for awhile.
So a great time to remodel said bench and make it even better so I can go "flat-chat" when I get back, and I thought I'd share a quick look with you plus an update of upcoming videos while I'm gone.
    Cheers
    Chris

Funnily enough this holiday may actually be a scouting/reconnoiter for our eventual move to NZ...its only going to get hotter here in Oz as much as we absolutely love where we live....

❤️❤️❤️. Can we borrow your working space while you are away? Enjoy your vacation Chris! You and your family certainly deserve it after the\is tumultuous year.

Well you have definitely peaked my interest in regard to the painting. I will be looking forward to that. Great ideas on the work shop. I just recently started using the plastic bins as well. My wife found several on sale one day and offered them to me. When my model reaches paint (and before...) I place it in a bin between work sessions. I think you will like it. Thanks for sharing and I wish you safe travels.

    Nice, big, open workshop.
I like the idea of keeping surfaces clear and easy to clean and the big cover for drying/short term storage.
I've got SMS in desk top racks and it's a bit of a dust catcher so I'm moving them to the Alex drawers with the 40mm angle as per your earlier hobby room tour.
A fair amount of Aquadhere went into the drawers too (it is IKEA 😁) and I toss IKEA's castors for the polyurethane versions as my floor is concrete (shed).
I have a cranky up desk from Officeworks for the Paint booth 'cause I like to stand for painting if I've been sitting too long and it gets rid of the extra weight on that too.
And the Daylight lamps are great.
Thanks for the tour and ideas.
    Cheers 🦘🦘🦘

Hi Chris. First, have a great holiday.
A great layout, that I can only dream about (too many other interests taking up space!) and particularly the enormous cutting mats, great idea no more mat slipping or cutting off the edge.
Your up comming "warts and all" (as Cromwell put it) series of deep practice sounds very exciting and I look forward to it with bated breath.
But mainly have a great holiday and reset.
    All the best.

Your work shop is looking very good Chris!
I use the IKEA Alex drawers as well. Bang for the buck, hard to beat. I found that due to sag I had to add a re enforcing strip under a couple of drawers loaded with paint jars.
Enjoy your holiday, well deserved! 👍

Gday, Chris, thanks for the tour, is that Spitfire a signed Barrie Clark. One additional item you could add to enter the model cave is an air shower :-) Spend 30 seconds in that and your good to go. I've also started the container builds its great. You should have given me shout out, I would have flown down and watched Ms Penny and the chickens for ya. Don't forget to put the Super Stallion on the build list. Ya know the Kiwis are deep into movie making, they may need a model builder. Look out for Russel he might be filming too. Just don't run into the Na'vi clan and Remember the Maori's are not model builders. Plus no elk hunting :-) Seriously epic job on the new model room, you and family have an awesome time, and have a Spieght's if ya can, Cheers from the Colonies , Bob

G’Day matey! So very good to see you looking so great and feeling so motivated! Your wife is correct (surprise 😮) get a a real unit to extract the fumes. 3D printer won’t need to leave you then it can printout where you are working - so much easier.
Work room looks great, I am envious. £10 on you not putting all away at every break so very soon lol. You’re a man Backer that’s not us!
DP in my understanding is ‘reverse engineering’ one doesn’t create one emulates? Good idea, although not so sure about focus on paint etc as that’s not modelling and it’s a niche market but you are Becker!!
Spent some time on Harry Houdini site and such a contrast to you mate and boy do you get some mentions, not nasty, but talk about his dislike of Tamiya!!
    Love your work
Have a great trip, don’t tire yourself out and comeback refreshed and not with another million ideas……you have enough to get going again!
