And the maternal grandparents of all people are even worse. The "don't rock the boat" people are the worst. They're the reason people like the Dad get away with being so terrible, and why they become that way in the first place. That kind of mentality creates the perfect environment for someone to abuse others. Appearances need not be deceiving. When you cut out these people like the cancer they are you'll end up with the good relationships the don't-rocker's feel obligated to pretend they have.

OP - *sends proof* Cheater's parents - "I apologize for my outburst, but might you not tell anyone this, please?" Such a level of blind loyalty or blatant enabling is what gets folks in more trouble than what it's worth🤣🤣 Now they look even more stupid having to back track ONTOP of defending their loose goose daughter.
Story #2: I don't care if she was drinking beforehand, nobody asks a question like this as a joke. _In front of their partner,_ no less. The reason this came out of B's mouth in the first place is because she wanted to test OP's reaction, but, she was always going to do it, no matter what he said.

When you and your best friend are walking out of your room, hair and clothes disheveled and the two of you giggling like school girls because you wanted to see what a catfight was like, that's "not what it looks like". When the light in your tent just right that you're accidentally reenacting the sex gag while looking for something in your hiking bags, that's "not what it looks like". HOWEVER, when you and your AP are naked and having a little Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo on the kitchen counter, what else, exactly, is it supposed to look like? Impromptu gynecology exam? Full-body tick inspection? How is getting caught in the act "not what it looks like"?
Sympathies are obviously with OP #2 and not his ex. But there is something sad about stories where someone makes one bad decision while drunk that irrevocably fucks their life up. It’s not that she doesn’t deserve to be sad and depressed, ultimately she’s in that spot because of her own choices. It’s still sad as fuck when someone lets alcohol or other substances fuck their life up
This is why I avoid alcohol like a plague. I know I have a 100% chance of doing something ridiculously stupid that would probably land me in an overnight cell.
