A local legend here in Las Vegas, where she grew up. Her father Lew Basil was an accomplished musician, and led the orchestra in the showroom at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas, for years. Graduating in '61, she was well accomplished in dance, and took this talent to LA, where she excelled first as a dancer, then a choreographer, as well as dabbling in acting (Easy Rider) and singing.
Graham is an incredible, accomplished songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist & the only member still performing with his current line-up of 10CC. How can we forget that incredible & dreamy bass guitar solo he did in the middle breakdown of, "I'm Not In Love", just before the gal at the front desk chants, "Big Boys Don't Cry...Big Boys Don't Cry...Big Boys Don't Cry...Big Boys Don't Cry... Great song, and nice montage. Cool how the A-side is like a faux-Motown soul stomper and this B-side a proto-psychedelic rocker-and Toni was 5 years shy of 28 when she recorded it! She'd be 38 or 39 when "Mickey" went to #1. And in between she made so much brilliant work in collaboration with Devo and as a (pre-) hip-hop choreographer with Don Campbell and The Lockers. I recommend her RUclips channel, "ToniBasilsHouse" for retrospective of her work and influences.
How could Toni Basil be 28 when this song was from 1966? She was born on September 22, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA. So in 1966, she would have been about 22 or 23. I love this song. This kind of music has a bit of a Bob Dylan feel to it. 2:07-2:13... love that video shot!! :)
The answer to your question is Toni Basil can work miracles. She’d go on to become a dancing cheerleader in the early 80’s and only appear to look 16. 😉
Absolutely fresh … it takes me…1966! The best year for pop and forever

Great overlooked song by Toni Basil, who had a hit with Micky.

written by graham gouldman .. songwriter and bass player with 10cc

She is:
The most interesting looking female dancer in the world.
Beautifully sung song written by Graham Gouldman.
Saat aku kecil takut padanya ketika dia menyanyikan lagu Mickey. Tapi ternyata dia cantik
In the biography Mick, the author reveals that Shindig! dancers Toni and Teri Garr allegedly had a wild night with him
after meeting on the tv show.

"I'm 22 or 23, it's getting late" didn't rhyme as well, so she changed it.

I suppose in the same way that Tom Jones wasn’t in a death row cell when he sang The Green, Green Grass of Home.
Sounds more like Lonely Boy - Paul Anka...
....
I'm not going to use the F word but it caused two of my exes to wind up as lonely, childless spinsters.
Feminist isn't a scary word.
Meanwhile, word spinster became ancient around 2005...
Friday brown , much better !
