The Horde has surged since the forth war, if the Blizzard hadn't killed off Varian, people would still be flying the Alliance flag proudly. The Horde is just metal, honor, strength and loyalty are displayed in the lore, players get drawn into it, that's what happened to me. I needed a break from the "blood and thunder" so I decided to roll some Alliance toons while waiting for the Dragonflight pre-order to drop, I feel that the Alliance need a story arc that brings back players into the fold, everyone played had a connection to Arthas in WCIII as he lead his paladin's against the undead and we need Anduin to have a badass story arc on his way back to his throne, I'm sure Blizzard will find a way to fuck up the lore, they do it well!

Actually, a lot of Alliance Players are Republican or hold right-wing views. It's actually because Blizzard is super Horde Bias and have a favoritism towards the faction and neglect the Alliance. Hell Blizzard even try to demonize the Alliance, despite so clearly showing the Horde committing more grievous acts of aggression and warmongering and even War Crimes.

I think the biggest problem with the factions is that the Alliance has developed a bit of a bad reputation for being “for kids” or “immature players”, and I gotta say, they’re not entirely wrong. I love the Alliance, but I find Horde side more fun and engaging. The RP stuff on Horde side is also much better. The Ally side seems to only be interested in “weirdo” stuff…. I completely disagree with Draenei being too human-like. The most they have in common is they have arms, torsos and heads. Draenei have horns, double jointed legs, tails, tentacles/tendrils, fangs, bone plates and extremely tall. Not to mention the males are as wide as fridges. They're one of the most unique races in the game and it didn't feel right for you to dismiss them.

@@ethanparker4309 I think the Mechagnomes could have been really interesting story wise. As an example of the Alliance taking the Gnomes and their talents for granted. The war having huge consequences for the Gnomes. Mechatorque and a vast number of Gnomes getting horrificly injured in the battles and left with little recourse but to use their engineering to fix their broken bodies. These Gnomes physically represent the dedication that they have to the Alliance but also are a clear sign that they are not being truly appreciated. The Alliance war machine would come to a halt without them. It could be interesting to see the Gnomes pissed at their treatment and the lack of acknowledgment for their efforts or even the things that still plague them as a people. Like Gnommreggan still not being taken back for example. I'm sure there are plenty other issues that they could have but I really like the idea that the Mechagnome as a cosmetic appearance could represent a Gnome who has been through the Hell of the war, which also adds weight to the conflict. Lorewise you can justify the mechanics as something Gnomes physiology can handle because they used to be machine people for the curse of flesh. That way other races just can't get cybernetics.

The Devs literally said they gave Horde Blood Elves in TBC so they could have a pretty race because Alliance was outnumbering them. So this doesn’t make sense at all. Alliance has low pop Bc the story shits on them every expac and all elite players went Horde due to racials a while back which started a snowball effect. If the Devs took Blood Elves away from the Horde tomorrow and gave them to Alliance the faction numbers would shift drastically. Also Humans and Night Elves are literally the most popular Ally races and Belves are the most popular horde race so again, this argument falls flat.

Horde had better racials for like 10-12 years. That created a change in top guilds, which snowballed more people wanting to play better towards the Horde faction. This hit the peak with Kil'Jaeden which needed a certain Horde racial to fix the mechanics of the fights. Afterwards that was an accelerated snowball effect that Blizzard couldn't slow down. Cross-faction is not a solution, unless WoW becomes factionless this problem aint gonna go away. My personal solution would have been make Alliance racials A LOT bettter than the Horde ones, at least for a year or 2, force the competitive community to switch to Alliance and when its about 50-50 pop wise, balance everything once more and this time for good.

Combination of a few things causing a domino effect.
The devs had a favorite child. So one faction ended up having much better racials, plus they hyped and promoted it in every media and blizcon, unlike the other faction.
Minmaxer players and the PvPers (PvP vids) chose that faction. So not only was it the better faction technically, it also became the cooler faction.
And in TBC they had the bright idea to add the most anticipated race, put it in the cooler faction, and give it an amazing racial. Which tipped the scales.
Then it was just a matter of people going with the flow. It's like when shops in asia pay people to just stand in a long line outside their newly opened shop. which makes everyone wants to go there.

Dwarves have grit and rugged determination, as well as a penchant for exploration.
Night Elves are secretive defenders of nature, much older than the kingdoms of men, and try to mediate the differences between the alliance and horde alongside the Tauren.
Lastly, the Gnomes have the silly streak, being the comic relief of the alliance while still being marvelous engineers and reeking of contagious positivity.
They all fit their own little niches, maybe it is because WoW has had such an impact on my childhood, but I love each and every one of them, the alliance has a wonderful blend of what you perceive the ideal good guys to be, with a well-written and serious story for classic, while still maintaining a level of slapstick humor and comedy that makes the game so much fun.

Horde has obviously always been the dev's favorite faction... They let them have straight up better racials for a decade, always gave them the cool races and always use their faction as the center of the story telling (Green Jesus, Garrosh, Sylvanas). The allied races aren't helping, since it's mostly just altered versions of existing races, the horde mostly gets more cool, while the alliance gets more bland. The fact that the only "original" allied races are given to the Horde really doesn't help either. Alliance REALLY needed something like the Vulperas.

    • @Jerseybytes2
      @Jerseybytes2 2 года назад

I play horde (started out as a priest troll), and barely touched alliance since I've started, so I could be wrong about this. But it seems to me like every time the alliance has new mounts is just more horses. I mean with the vulpera we got a different mount. the alliance got more horses. we also got the neat goblin mounts, and I believe alliance got horses? not even sure what mounts the alliance ended up getting. I mean nothing against horses, but I think blizzard should give the alliance more than just that.
I began noticing a big decrease of alliance in my realm around the middle of lich king. I used to like wintergrasp so I used to join. At first it was pretty much a 50/50 where the defending side ended up losing. As time went by I noticed less and less alliance was joining, and the horde begin winning more, even when we defended. When cataclysm came out, I barely saw any alliance. I'd see 30 horde, and 2 or 3 allies and it was always the same people. Not sure if the alliance transferred or if they just quit. But the realm I was in (not Illidan btw) went on to feel like a PVE realm instead of a PVP one. Looking back, I may have seen a couple of alliance in warlords of Draenor while I leveled 4 toons. Of course this was my experience in the realms I play, it may have been different in other realms.

sorry but even in the game no one likes spit or slap emotes, because, for example, they did not give gold for transmog, haters were in game not only now, but in Cata and Pandaria, Draenor, remember Ashran someone wrote "gj bois" and some girl said "and girls", misogyns insulted her, no one reacted!!! first you have to write to that moron "wtf you doing, calm down"
after on the Horde side there are more players who do not accept this behavior, I often read the texts in the raid chat "we dont need haters, go away, get back to the Alliance"
sometimes I have the impression that there are players who have not succeeded in real life, but in the game they are strong and they offend the weakers, maybe they want to be appreciated who knows, its sad

There were lots of fan concepts to give the High Elves a different model/look and a new culture to make them distinct from Blood Elves. But they dug their heels in and a lot of the anti-Alliance types protested that. And now we ended up with the same model on both factions.

  • @lucasemboava5935

This argument that the horde offers more options of races and customizations may be true but for me it isn't the main reason because most of horde players are main BE. That is basically a hotter human model with long ears...
And I bet if BE were never a horde race the problem would be the opposite. I understand why they did it and that's ok.
The problem for me is that the developers (the ones in charge) just give trash to alliance and add the cool things only for horde. Look at allied races... Zandalaries to horde and fat humans to the alliance... Vulpera vs junk gnomes.... For me its far more related to blizzards favoritism towards horde than only the players choice alone. Racials for pve for long were better on horde side. The neglect of HE community. The night elfs lore murdered and they were made clowns if compered to the real wild night elfs from wc3. Nightbornes added to horde.... REALLY? Because BE understands they better??? Come on even the excuse for this is terrible. Alliance never gets what they want the way they want. And now Calia joins the undead... where are our light forged undeads? That would be cool! Ah ok if happens probably they are going horde because reason and maybe alliance get fat gnomes.

In TBC, the Horde had the competitive edge when it came to PvE, so cutting edge guilds started rerolling Horde. Players hoping to get recruited into those cutting edge guilds also rerolled, and it's been snowballing ever since (my guild had to do this following WoD, as we just couldn't sustain players as an Alliance guild). It hasn't been an aesthetic or competitive issue for over a decade; it's 100% a social issue. Once cross-faction guilds become a thing, we'll see the numbers shift RADICALLY as there will be zero downside to playing Alliance races (at least half of my characters will go either Draenei or Void Elf as soon as that happens), and Void Elves and Night Elves have some of the best competitive PvE racials out there.

I have to disagree with the idea that the alliance races are too bland, the horde are just as bland. The story line and racials have always favored the horde and alliance players believe the blizz devs have a pro horde bias.
Class choices by the two factions is also a factor. Horde favoring rogues and locks and the alliance having more hunter at one time. How the devs buffed some while debuffing others had a direct impact.
Switching to horde is not an option so as the alliance shrinks I will eventually exit too.

  • @GeorgeNoX

To me actually Alliance was always been more interesting story wise, that is why i picked it way back in vanilla when i started playing. I chose a Night Elf druid and played that one class since, up until Legion when Artifact weapons made me want to roll some other classes to see those storylines and i had done each of them at that point. But then when BfA was announced a lot of people decided to switch to Horde for whatever reason (Probably because at least some wanted to support Sylvanas, but then she went bat sh*t crazy lol) and so soon my server ended up almost entirely Horde. So at that point i decided to switch as well since i had no one left to play with. That is the only reason i switched from Alliance. If there was a radical shift in population to where things would be more balanced at least i would switch back to Alliance. And it is not because ''they are basically humans'' lol, you could have the same argument on a bunch of Horde races as well. BE are humans with long ears as well lol for instance

In my personal opinion it's mostly a style-issue. You can make a cool looking orc. You can make cool looking bloodelves. Some people like the undead, and you can create decent looking undead as well.
And on the alliance side..? Humans look terrible. Night Elves look kinda terrible as well, and so do draenei. As far as I am concerned the only cool looking alliance race is the dwarfs, and they are certainly not for everyone.
People want their avatars in game to look cool. You can make cool looking horde characters with almost every horde race. On the alliance side you can not, and due to class/race restrictions this issue gets even worse if your favorite class can't be combined with the race you prefer. Horde on the other hand has many safe options for everyone.
I switched to horde recently. I don't like horde cities and everything undead related, but.. my characters all looks cool. That's what matters. My alliance characters on the other hand mostly look goofy.

At the head of our faction we always find a human possibly a paladin-like, for once I like to see a member of another race on command, for example also a dwarf (a race strangely little considered by the authors), a draenei or etc. .

I actually think the lore itself is a big part of why the Alliance is a dying faction. A lot of people care about the lore. Even if it's at the very least a basic level of understanding. This goes from very casual players to hardcore players. The Alliance's lore/story dropped off after WOTLK ended. This is when blizzard obviously threw in the towel on the Alliance story. Especially when you see all the Alliance the towns/cities that were destroyed during this time period. Southshore & Theramore are the obvious examples of this, as well as parts of Ashenvale. The Alliance lost pretty much every meaningful battle against the horde. And even lost in humiliating/stupid ways. Andorhal most notably. Along with this, the most popular Alliance races lost their Core themes. These being the Night Elves AND the Humans. The Night Elves have no resemblance to their WC3 selves. They aren't feral savages anymore. The Cenarian Circle has never allied with them to defend their lands against the Horde. The Druid theme had largely been neutralized. The same goes for humans. So many people think humans have everything when in reality they don't. Humans largely lost their iconic Paladin culture to the neutral Argent Crusade. The same Argent Crusade that for illogical reasons ignores the crimes of the Forsaken. The humans lost their Mage/Wizard theme thanks to Dalaran being neutralized. Blizzard refuses to advance the lore of the Kingdom of Stormwind. They used the CATA revamp to turn half of their starting areas into Popculture Parodies full of childish jokes. Humanity is stuck with Stormwind which has ZERO identity while Blizz occasionally dangles the carrot of reclaiming Lordaeron (the much better human kingdom) in front of human fans faces.

There's so much wrong with the Humans of the Alliance in WoW:
-Stormwind lost a lot of its identity: no Brotherhood of the Horse (knights), no Order of Conjurers (mages), the Church of the Holy Light is MIA (priests)
-Dalaran seems to have left its land and people to rot in Silverpine as they are attacked by Horde, the Forsaken have consistently attacked the remnants of the magocracy at the crater and surrounding villages, their allies were destroyed at Theramore, although the vast majority of Dalaran are Human (most old enough to remember WC2), they allow the Horde to build within their city
      The Kirin Tor have dementia...
-Stromgarde seems to be returning, and have their heads on straight
-Kul'Tiras was doing fine until Jaina seems to have had amnesia, with her dad being illustrated as a monster when all he wanted was to protect his people
-Gilneas was a martial culture, but their lands are lost
-Alterac is full of rogues. You'd think some of the nobles in Stormwind would want to return home and have territory tangent to Stromgarde, to support against the undead
-Lordaeron is dead, for nearly 20 years of RL time.
The Silver Hand could have attempted to retake the Eastern Plaguelands by now, by rebuilding Tyr's Hand, allow some survivors back home, but nope
The sane Scarlet Crusade could have appealed the Silver Hand to help with their mission. Didn't happen.
The Argent Crusade makes no sense anymore
Only Stromgarde makes any sense right now, in the lore.

@@dr.strangelove9815 A very late reply from me but All good points. I hate how they've just damned the Kirin Tor to be eternally neutral. Literally ruined the only Alliance "gain" from MOP. Dalaran was the replacement for Theramore and it left as soon as it returned. You bring up an interesting point though about Tyr's Hand. A lot of people tend to forget that city and it's other towns back there. I think that would be a great place to make the capitol of "Alliance" Lordaeron. It's a historical Lordaeron settlement IN the former realm. It's a place the Alliance could claim and it's out of the way from any Horde areas. Even if Lordaeron as a Kingdom is dead, that could be the remnant that lives on. Even if it was under the domain of Stromgarde or Stormwind.
I'm happy Stromgarde was retaken too. I just wish we'd get an actual ingame phase of that victory. Where Stromgarde is a city with vendors, npcs, guards and Danath on his rightful throne.

Thats a long story which started around early BC when they added blood elves to the Horde after Korean gamers demanded a pretty race and were so loud about it Blizz actually caved in and moved blood elves to the Horde. Then were the overpowered racials on the horde side, only leaving Alliance with good human ability and decently good night elf stealth skill. The rest was pretty much either too weak or too situational.
And of course i cannot forget about general attitude Blizz have towards the Alliance, from mockery and insults at Blizzcons to straight up inviting a "rock star" who shit talked Alliance fans from scene, called for violence against Alliance players (i specify PLAYERS not characters) and then later on in an interview continued to insult them, while Blizz covered for him until someone actually sued them.
Blizz devs mostly main Horde, aside from Christie Golden who plays Alliance but only for Anduin and Jaina. She even said that she writes Anduin as a "role model" for her kid.
And now of course the no-good, the bad and the ugly - Steve Danuser. Simping for Sylvanas so badly he actually scrapped half the plot of Shadowlands and messed with BfA just to keep her alive.
Alliance never allowed to win in game, retaliate against Horde aggression and generally shown as inept, pathetic punching bags who just stand there waiting for Horde to attack them. While also constantly forgiving their abusers (i wonder why would Blizz want to send that kind of message, hmmmm...). Thats why people keep leaving - nobody wants to play a faction that is treated like garbage by the developers, its just straight up disrespect of your own playerbase, what ELSE they expected?

  • @GhastlyH
    @GhastlyH Год назад

For approximately two years I've been using a free-to-play toon to conduct an informal anthropological study of the RP and Twinking community in the game (my education is in anthropology). What I have seen happening in the PvP community is trial players start off alliance, usually Nelf or Human to try the game out. The Horde has a slight advantage in PvP as they have more Twinks. Back when Levellers and F2Ps were in the same bracket the Horde would win random BGs about 6% more than Alliance. It's not a very big difference but it is big enough to be felt.
This gives the impression to the players that Alliance is for trying the game out. You roll a human as a trial because it will be easiest to integrate into the game but once you've got the basics of the game down pat you roll Horde to play because they win more games. That 6% difference is enough to be felt and if you want to win you go where the wins are. So the Horde gets more of the hard core PvP players and the Alliance is left with more casual PvPers.
A few months before Dragonflight dropped Blizzard radically changed the way PvP works at that bracket. It used to be F2Ps and Levellers were in the same bracket and XP Off were in their own bracket. The vast majority of Twinks were F2Ps and while some of them had a huge advantage due to squished gear most were just trial accounts wearing TBC socketed gear. A Leveller could in theory curb stomp a F2P Twink, but it would require an investment in time to get the gear needed to stomp them.
This investment in time needed to gear up enough to curb stomp a "baby" Twink makes no sense in the game the way it is currently structured. Modern WoW practically catapults you into the End Game and even at a casual rate of game play a Leveller will be levelled out of a PvP bracket in a day or two. Blizzard doesn't really want you playing the old content, they want you subscribed an in the current expansion as quickly as possible. It was common to see casual levellers in random BGs with empty gear sockets. Why invest in the time and trouble to get a piece of gear for your toon when in a few more days you'll be in End Game and the gear will be useless. So for ungeared Levellers the Twinks were a nuisance. On top of that the meta for random BGs in the twink brackets was completely different from the meta in End Game and most Levellers never remained in a bracket long enough to learn the meta for that bracket. So since Levellers are Blizzard's targeted players keeping them happy seemed to make the most sense, since F2P Baby Twinks in theory don't make Blizzard money and are not playing the game the way Blizzard intends it to be played.
As I said previously, a few months before DF dropped Blizzard separated the F2Ps from the Levellers. Levellers are now entirely in their own PvP queues and F2Ps have now been put in the same queues as XP Off. Level 20 Baby Twinks are now in BGs against level 29 Daddy Twinks. The win ratio for Horde in this new system has increased to approximately 10% from the previous 6%. This is a difference that is definitely perceptible to even the most casual of players. The results of this change have been very dramatic. Horde twinks now vastly outnumber Alliance twinks. Baby Twinks are almost completely obsolete now (there are a few Baby Twinks that are still respected in the BGs, mostly healers).
This change to the way the PvP brackets work has had a big impact on the queues. Where before the segregation of Levellers a night where the queues lasted 25 minutes to a half hour were considered a slow night, it is not uncommon now to get queues as long as 3 hours before a BG will pop. When queues do pop now, it is extremely rare for both sides to have 10 players. There are not enough XP Off Twinks to carry a bracket on their own and the F2P Twinks are pretty much obsolete and most have stopped playing. I had studied the Twink culture for about a year before the segregation of Levellers and found a fascinating and vibrant community to study. Since the segregation I have been studying a culture in decline and it's quite heart breaking for an anthropologist to study a culture that is going extinct even when that culture only exists in a virtual space.

    • @GhastlyH
      @GhastlyH Год назад

Nowadays it is becoming increasingly uncommon for either side to have 10 players in this bracket. The Horde frequently outnumbers the Alliance because they have more Twinks. The only people playing this bracket are either complete noobs just using the Trial Account the way it is intended to be used (to try the game before deciding whether or not to buy it) or hard core Daddy Twinks. The Baby Twinks are virtually gone. From the perspective of a Noob exploring this game using the trial account it becomes pretty obvious that Alliance is for losers and Horde is for winners. Horde has more Twinks, and even if you don't want to be a Twink the impression the Trial experience gives a Noob is that playing anything other than Horde is a waste of your time.
Now how many of these Noobs decide to become subscribed players after the trial experience I don't know as it would require me to have access to data that only Blizzard has. I suspect that from the trial experience that PvP seems to be completely dead in this game. If you're trying out WoW for the first time and are faced with queues up to 3 hours long only to end up in a BG where one side has 4 players and the other side has 8 and the match eventually times out because one side never has 5 players it can't possibly give you the impression that World of Warcraft is a vibrant game with a growing population. If you were to judge this game based on the trial PvP experience then WoW feels very much like any other Coma MMO, a game still being kept alive on life support but clearly no longer viable.
Now it would be very easy to assume that killing off the Baby Twinks is a win for Blizzard because those players are playing for free but my study has shown that's not the case. Most Baby Twinks had multiple WoW accounts with at least one subscribed account. They would use the subscribed account to augment their F2P account and they would buy and sell WoW tokens like crazy, subbing and dropping the sub on their F2Ps as needed to acquire the best gear they could get. When the segregation of Levellers happened most Baby Twinks jumped over to their subscribed account where they had a Daddy Twink waiting. It was actually something incredible to see happen at the time. For a brief period of time the queues in the 20s bracket were popping like crazy as the Twinks started flexing with their Daddy Twinks. This wasn't sustainable though. With the bracket being made up of only F2Ps and XP Off 29s there were not enough players to maintain it. Those F2Ps who did not have an additional subscribed account were obsolete and left the game. There were very few Baby Twinks who could keep up in any useful way against the power of a Daddy Twink. When you encounter a F2P in this bracket now, they're usually someone genuinely new to the game, just trying it out. For most of the Daddy Twinks this made Twinking less fun.
The common misconception amongst WoW players is as follows. "Twinks are losers who can't cut it in End Game and so they make over powered low level toons to beat up on noobs". This has not been indicated by my research. There certainly are some Twinks who just want to kill everything and everyone in their path. I call them the "Krombopulous Michael" Twinks. They are the minority in the Twinking community. The actual truth is Twinks are very diverse in their reasons for Twinking and many Twinks are actually very effective End Game PvPers. Twinking is just another way to play the game. It used to mean something to be a Baby Twink that could curb stomp a level 29 Leveller. It was minmaxing to the max. Now, being a Daddy Twink who curb stomps complete noobs just trying the game out for the first time means nothing, and that's pretty much all they have to fight now.
So where have the Twinks gone now? A few die hard Baby Twinks are still playing the bracket. There are some Daddy Twinks still playing the bracket but the majority seem to have migrated to Wrath Classic. The Twink bracket is dying, quite rapidly. The Horde has the majority of the Daddy Twinks but there are not enough Alliance Daddy Twinks to make PvP worth it for them. Noobs using the Trial Account to sample the game before buying see a system where the Horde is the only path to victory so

    • @GhastlyH
      @GhastlyH Год назад

if they do decide the game is worth a purchase and subscription they are highly incentivized to play Horde.
In short, Alliance is for trying the game out and Horde is what you play if you want to "win".
Ironically this creates an interesting paradox with the lore of the game. As the game is presented the Horde are depicted as the scrappy underdogs, the misfits who struggle against overwhelming odds to survive. The reality of the game is completely different. So if you just want to role play as the underdog then rolling Horde is the way to go. If you actually want to experience being the scrappy underdog struggling against overwhelming odds, then roll an Alliance Twink. Because the Horde have a numerical advantage in the number of Twinks they have, if Alliance could get more Twinks there is a chance the bracket could survive as the Horde Twinks would return to the bracket finally having someone worthy to fight. The problem is the misconception of Twinks discourages people from making Twinks.
Now that the Levellers are in their own bracket rolling a Twink should not be seen as dishonourable and should actually be seen as a legitimate and different way to play the game. We all know this game has lulls between expansion patches where you grow weary of doing the dailies and the content becomes a little stale. Twinking should be seen as a legitimate way to spend time in the game when the End Game grind becomes dull. Daddy Twinks should naturally fall into a role as protectors and educators of the Baby Twinks. Yeah there are Daddy Twinks who are Krombopulus Micheals who just want to pound the Baby Twinks without mercy, but those are the Daddy Twinks on the OTHER side. On THIS side ones job as a Daddy Twink is to protect the Baby Twinks from the OTHER side's Daddy Twinks.
I'm very sorry to have cluttered up your comments section with an essay on Twinks but hey, nerds gonna nerd out when they find something that crosses with their field of academic interest and while your video certainly does highlight the cosmetic reasons why Horde is more popular than Alliance (and why the heck are Goblins not a neutral race when they have been canonically neutral longer than Pandarans and Dragonborn have been in the game) there are also other contributing factors that are hard wired into the most basic levels of this game that give an advantage to the Horde over the Alliance.
In short, if one would like to adjust this factional imbalance as well prevent the extinction of an entire virtual culture then please consider rolling an Alliance Daddy Twink. And if you do roll an Alliance Daddy Twink and see a lowly gnomish rogue Baby Twink named Pookamhura, then please, please, PROTECC THE POOK!

Worse racials, less interest from developers at cons and public events, less respect for them within the actual writing of the game, constantly having alliance races dumbed down to be "Alliance" when they might have otherwise had some of the coolest lore in the setting, like Night Elves, because the Horde needed something to fight, not something to actually have a complex side to its own story.
So many other fantasy settings still play by the generic archetypes of the races, but allow them to be fun and interesting besides that. Our humans are bland as shit compared to wc2, our dwarves and elves have unique stuff that will never be acknowledged within the writing because it's not known to the new writing team. They clearly have no idea what to do with Draenei, and worgen suffer the human writing problem.
When I quit wow for a bit after the allegations to explore more settings, ones like Warhammer stuck out to me. Because they allow the fantasies to actually show. It took 20 years for blizzard to even add another one of Warcraft 3's common nature spirits for night elves, into the game. Let's see population by race (data taken from wowanalytica): Blood Elves 20.23%, Night Elf 9.50%, Orc 9.46%, Human 9.01%, Troll 6.65%, Tauren 5.47%, Undead 4.87%, Draenei 2.64%, Goblin 2.06%, Worgen 1.95%, Dwarf 1.78%, Gnome 1.51%.
I will post only those races because I've only played up to WoD and don't know much about later expansions. We can see here several things.
    1. Elves dominate. It's probably due to two things: sexy look and demon hunter class. Female elven population is also much bigger than male.
    2. Least popular horde race (goblins) is more popular than three alliance races.
    3. Horde races are more spread while alliance races are more focused on humans and elves.
So I think main issue with Alliance lack of popularity is story focus. Alliance story is human story. People who don't want to play as humans will find no story about their race of choice. This is especially noticeable in gnomes which weren't even included in classic and TBC cinematic as sole exception. If Blizzard wants to fix balance they need to remember that humans aren't only race in Alliance.
