    If you open the doors on the trailer before you back it in, you can push it further back towards the processor so that the wood stacks more forward in the trailer. Then when you pull it forward to fill the rear of the trailer, you close the doors.

    Greetings Chris from S. E. Ohio. Great stacks. I have a chance to do my first live interview with a 22-28 Eastonmade splitter yesterday. Pulled into gas station and guy was at pump so I had to talk awhile. He has a 12 way wedge and he said he bout all the wedges but only one box wedge. Come to find out he only lives about 3 miles from me. He was going to help a buddy of his do some tornado clean up. Those those a lot more awesome standing next to one than seeing them on utube. Well enough rabbling. See you tomorrow have a great day

    Very nice video Chris. I liked the Grey gloves that you were wearing when you were showing me how to use the splitter. The neon fingers let me know where your hands were located.
    Last Saturday I drove an hour one way to pick up twelve free pallets that were listed on Craigslist. The ad showed heavy duty one inch thick slats.
    When I got to the pick up site, the pallets were not what was listed in the ad.
    The 12 pallets looked like they fell off the back of a truck on the freeway and a semi rode over them.
    Then they guy started talking that he has a few numbers for the nuclear codes. I left.
    This Saturday I am picking up 12 new pallets that I am paying a few dollars for each. Free Pallets around here are hard to find.

      @annmariekowalski7505 2 года назад

      OK I just might have to start a channel. Today would have made great content.
      I gave up on the 12 to pick up today. The guy wanted me to meet him, bring money and he will take me to his pallets. Would not give me an address or tell me what the pallets were used for. I do not need haz mat pallets. He wanted me to call back to confirm and he had a lot of questions about my truck.
      Anyway another Craigslist posting by the trucking terminals by the Airport. We head off and pick up four. Two doubles and two singles.
      Great find. We decided to check our DPW and then make a trip through our seven business industrial park. The DPW has pre approved us to take pallets.
      We find a stash and my husband takes a picture of the business so I can call on Monday.
      Head on out to the next place which we can see a stack from the road. The road looked like a cul de sac with a business on each side. Last time I inspected these two buildings, they were abandoned. I pull in to get the name of the business which is not on the building. I turn around and we slow down to get an address and some guy jumps our of a black smoked out pick up truck jumping infront of my truck.
      Bill tried to ask the guy if he was the owner and the guy yells I AM INCHARGE. I have a picture of you, your truck, and you stealing pallets.
      I said DO WHAT? He said you are a thief and you are a disgrace to your community.
      He stays at the passenger door and he is taunting my husband to get out of the truck and take a poke at him.
      I said my husband is 80 years old, spent 39 years one month and 17 days serving this country. Earning two purple hearts and a bronze star with a V for Valor and you want to fight him.
      This guy looked like one of the last remaining munchkins from the Wizard of Oz. He was like the Cowderly Lion, Come On Come On Put Um Up.
      I said OK, enough and I got out of the truck. Now I had to bend down to read the label on the front of his shirt.
      He said OH so you want to punch me,? He said he was going to call 911.
      I said now wait, do you really think that this is an emergency? Here call this number, it is non emergency and you can even use my phone.
      Well, I am only going to call the police tomorrow when our stuff is stolen. You are just casing the place.
      Yes. I said. We have night blindness and we do not drive at night. We only steal during the day. Plus I go to bed at seven.
      Meanwhile Bill is on the phone with the dispatcher. When he gets off the phone, Bill gets out of the truck.
      Bill is 6foot 4 inch and this huys head is at Bill's chest.
      The guy starts backing up heading to his truck. I said don't run away, police are coming.
      Four squads show up. We are with one cop. The other guy is with another cop and two are standing buy. Our cop says to the other cop. you deal with him. zi have dealt with him before.
      I said to our cop, the pallets came from a free ad and we picked them up by the truck terminals.
      We just were trying to find the name of the business so I could call Monday morning.
      Cop two comes over and he says thst the guy admits that the pallets ate not his and he did nor see us load the pallets.
      The picture he took of us entering shows the pallets already in our truck
      We were reassured that this would be a log entry only.
      as we were leaving I told the guy that I did not appreciate being called a thief and a disgrace to my community.
      He denied everything. The cops said OK enough and we went on our merry way.
      The first place is a HVAC company and brand new pallets are heaped by the dumpster. This will be more than enough for my project.

    I'm wondering why you'd want a raincoat, your blue tights will stop a speeding blocket, should stop rain!! OR, .... the hyper speed friction should evap the rain before it fully lands on you!!
    You can load the front of your trailer by leaving the tailgate open and backing in further. When you pull forward, close the tailgate. - Always great to see what Tony's up to! A friend from school was nicknamed "Too Cool". See where I'm going with this?
    Ordinary humans with big clumsy feet (I've seen this by observing), would do better by leaving a little space between splitter and pile for their feet. Myself, ...I'm quick and nimble, just like you,... don't need room for my feet!

    Chris I have to ask a few questions. Why do you split your wood so small?? I use to collect my own wood and split it. Going back to burning wood this coming winter. The amll splits burn so quickly it's almost like burning up matchsticks. I use to like burning wood about the size of the pieces you resplit about 5 to six inches in diameter. Another thing why do you throw away the debris?? That stuff is good for firestarter. When you load a cord, put a 5 gallon bucket of the debris in with it, then give the contents to the customer. Not the bucket just the contents. People always have a homer bucket or 2 around and they are happy that you'll give them something for nothing (and you would have discarded it anyway).

      1- I sell all 200 full cords every year.
      2- I want it to dry and sell as fast as possible 1 year or less.
      3- I sell 95% of my wood to fireplace people NOT heating people, the do not want big wood.
      4- If the lady of the house can't pick it up with one hand, it is to big.
      5- Time, I do not have time to mess with scraps, I make money with fire wood not scraps.

    Is your wood storage area 1/4 full, 1/3 full, 1/2 full ?
    Will you need additional gravel before the snow starts flying ? And
    Are you planning another log shipment anytime soon ?

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  2 года назад

      I do not know, lots to do for sure, no more logs for a while until I get caught up.

    I don't understand why you dump the splitting scrap back in the thicket. That will fill up eventually. Why not make a burn pile and eliminate it that way.

    Have you considered getting a suitable wedge to avoid re splitting?

    • @blaablaahi

      I’m wondering the same.

    • @andydonise3881
      @andydonise3881 2 года назад +2

      I would be a damaging blow to my morale if I had to take it out of the trailer, split again, and then pick it up off the ground to put on the stack. There has got to be a solution utilizing a different wedge.

    You gonna cover those tall stacks?

  • @rdennis7201
    @rdennis7201 2 года назад +1

    The stacks are now getting 20+ feet long and 7+ feet high, thus soon there will no longer be measured face cords available for "chuckin'". You seem to be measuring the loads for delivery by the pickup load full or trailer load full. My question is this ..... how relevant is a 16" length? Is say, 14" to 18" length close enough with the new stack sizes?

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  2 года назад

      I try to have between 15-17" pieces bit 16" is best!

    When you get the heavy duty plastic pallets, do you drill a few holes in the bottom for drainage?

  • @gsmiley7700
    @gsmiley7700 2 года назад +1

    Because you are getting such clean debris from your current process, why not shovel it in a mesh bag and sell it as starter chunks. Shouldn’t be that much more effort and sell it for a half a face cord of wood if that helps ya think it’s worth the effort. Keep on keeping on!👍

  • @Alan_Hans__

    Someone is going to need to get some more tarps organised if he keeps accumulating lots of wood. Obviously if you're going 7ft high you're either trying to stop running out of space or else working on not moving around as much. Going 1.5 times as high means you're in the same place longer.

    21ftx4ftx7ft= 588/128= 4.6 cordsx2= 9.2cords, 27.5 facecords roughly . Alot of wood to some people but never enough to a firewood producer. Stacking from the trailer is best. Turn and stack no back bending hundreds of times for no reason
