i THOUGHT I saw an UDO in my medium term future...but it ended up being another mortgage payment and tax instalment 😂🥲. Oh well...Super 6 is still going strong 💪🏼
I’m trying to understand the value proposition of what’s different exactly. Super 6 has a total of 12 voices, Super 8 has 16 voices and the cost difference is $2700 vs $4000? Is the architecture completely different? More oscillators and modulating options?
I really don’t understand why this has the shorter throw faders of the Super Gemini when there’s clearly enough room for the longer throw faders of the Super 6???
Does the volume change when you modulate the mix parameter? This is an issue because it feels like a tremolo on top. (Middle state of the mix parameter is a lot lower in volume) My og nord lead 1 acts the same, its a love hate relationship. This mix behaviour got fixed in the nord lead 2 and that was a big improvement!
Lordy lord, not another one, lol. So many new bits of gear coming out, this one is quite the surprise too. EDIT, I will have to add, I can see why they sent you one, your play style is beautiful.
Can the super 8 load patches from the super 6? I’m interested in getting a super 8, but I really want the patches made for the super 6 by j3po and Nick Semrad lol
I work in advertising so I have to make music on a computer on a full-time basis, so I can only assume how mentally refreshing creating these types of sounds without a computer might be, it looks like so much fun
I'm really torn between this and the Gemini. Is the 2nd row of controls on the Gemini that much better or kinda unnecessary? I wonder how often you use it in practice 🤔
@@peterkenney9158 yeah the super 8 just looks beautiful and there's loads of bitimbral synths with one set of controls. You probably won't feel like missing something with one set of controls. Besides, when you hit a preset on the gemini you dont even know what the fader positions are for both timbres. I also prefer the look without the ribbon.
I realize this is the udo channel I’m commenting on here, but You really should try the Waldorf m. It has all of this nice evolving movement possibility except you can insert like 7 or more different little layers of degradation or saturation through overdriving the analog vcas, the derez param, the asic bug, the digital filters with fm or some wavefolding, modulating with audio rate looping complex egs or noise modulating destinations/using noise as a modulation modifier, pushing the filter, or just the interaction between these incredibly beautiful low bit wavetables, where you can ring modulate them and hard sync them and then detune one which causes the other to start beating like it’s going to fall apart. It’s a magical thing. The only reason I mention that is because as I heard all of this pretty movement and lush patches, I could only think “man, I wish they had that same character and organic feel of the M” And maybe there’s something udo can do to provide a little more grit and tactility to their synths
seems the sound is more frontal, less ethereal than super 6. So the (poor) arpeggiator is more proeminent. But the good thing is the keyboard and always a good interface.
At first glance you may hear another synth with a subtle difference in character from other synths. Then when you hear this synth next to others over some quality stereo speakers and you'll quickly hear that crisp FPGA sound, Waldorf Kyra also has this. And then you'll notice that Kyra is bi-timbral and simultaneously binaural but it doesn't have analog filters and then you realise the sound you hear has no equivalent on the market right now. Your opinion is your opinion, you may not like how it sounds, and therefore not want to pay the price they are asking for it in this impressive build quality form factor, that's fine. But in this market this balance between flexibility which they improved upon through unique features combined with the far above average audio and build quality for your buck, the price is as fair as the market dictates. A slightly longer opinion than yours, but in short and in terms you'll surely understand: "It sounds as expensive as it is to me"
I hate the Super 8. Their only justification for its existence is that it is more portable than the Super Gemini, like huh? Look at all that blank space saying "look at all this space we can fill up with stuff for the Super 10."
Really cool seeing Hazel's "patch-from-scratch" workflow, it really shows off how sound design/creative flow-focused these synths are!
Hope you’re doing well, mate!
@@greyaltaer8788 thanks!! I’ve been quiet over here but working hard on LP4 & stupid instagram things :)
Very beautiful 😌
Sounds beautiful. I have the Super Gemini and it is truly incredible.
Absolutely beautiful. UDO bringing out another classic!
More ear-candy! What a couple of days for the synth world! sounds Great Hazel!
I have a pair of kidneys on eBay atm.

I know right!!??? The TEO, the Matrix 12, the Moog Labyrinth, and the Super 8? Excellent

Beautiful demo!
Absolutely flipping lovely!

poly at keys, layers, wave morphing, expanded lfo2 with waveshapes, ring mod, separate low pass slider, 2 more voices, 5 octaves,
I see UDO & Hazel, I like before the video even starts!

Didn’t notice 😅
Because money/profit. 💵
Amazing music hazel , the udo super 8 really shines 🎉✨.
She’s so cool
UDO is really killing it!
Superb demo!

The patches at 10:00 sounds amazing. Well done Hazel and U.D.O!
Thank you! I was being so spontaneous that I forgot to save the sounds as I went along 🤦♀️ will have to try and recreate them
Does the interface feel too far from the keys? That looks like some serious stretching to move a slider.
it is due to keys which are longer (that make a better feeling)

If this synth was closer to $3k I'd buy one today.

It's interesting - I use DDSs to synthesise radio tones in my physics lab, but i haven't seen it in an audio synth before.
Good lordt this is a dream synth
Where's the mod wheel?

In the same boat. Love the clean look of the 8 and am not massively bothered about the ribbon. Extra voices are nice though.

What did you end up going for after all?
I’ve got a Super 6 and this looks compelling; however, I fear I would never leave the house again if I purchased one!
Do these things have mod wheels?

Great, firmware update for the Super 6 is coming too. Some magic dwarves newly hired?

Wow, you have space on your life to hate a synth you don’t need to own? Luxurious
I like the looks of the Super 8 quite a bit. I have a bunch of empty space on my forehead. Should I fill it in with extra parts so no space is wasted?
