So fitting that this super hit classic was dislodged from No:1 on the hit parade by......THE SHADOWS with their own APACHE . Like someone commented....a musical marriage made in heaven❤❤❤❤❤
Beauty is "In The Eye of The Beholder", but I agree, Cliff was in The top three British R & R singers of 1958/59, (and 10 out of 10 for The Drifters/Shadows).
Yes, we agree Cliff and the Shads were a wonderful group but don't overlook the original combo which inspired Cliff and a thousand other groups; the one who started the rock revolution, namely, Elvis on rhythm guitar and vocals, Scotty Moore on lead, Bill Black on bass and DJFontana on skins....
When I was younger I couldn’t stand him but now he has grown on me now I’m getting older all I can say is that this is one of my favourite songs from the good man
😲 Cliff Richard the Elvis of the UK! He goes way back to the 1950's and he's been singing in to the 60's 70's 80's 90's 2000's 2010! I'm not sure if he is still singing!
In fact quite unique arrangement for those days, bass line in unison at first, avoids 1st & 5ths, unusual evolved mix particular to The Shadows, some of their early unused examples on yt sound more like a garage band by comparison.
They played this song at Battersea Fun Fair in the early 60s, and when I heard it I just screamed. (Well, we did scream during those early years!). Just love Cliff and all of his songs, especially his old songs. Have been a devoted fan since Living Doll.

😲 People are taking they compare Cliff with Elvis! The real way to compare them would be, if they sang the same songs and how many recordings sold! 😲 Elvis was an is the King! Best there is, was and Ever Will Be! 😲I really don't know! Hope someone can give me some statistics on both of these Great Vocalist!
The Brits had a head start on anyone else with a good clean sound production. You could hear every beat and string in proportion to the voice out front. Harmonies were always well arranged and reverb was used sparingly and subtley except for the Bigsby arm which Hank Marvin made into a trademark. The base came to life in pop music long before Paul McCartney.
Always love this song, ❤❤❤
Love you Cliff Richard
Yes and My Wife, along with several thousand others!
Hank, Bruce, Jet, and Tony, the best lineup!!!!

was any solo singer ever lucky enough to have such brilliant backing musicians as the Shadows? Cliff and the Shadows, a marriage made in heaven
