    I have their first generation 10 foot commercial feeder, got on eBay from a big clearance outlet for £27, it's a stunningly good rod punches way above it's price bracket I can't see myself upgrading because in my opinion all the big brands just change the cosmetics, I reckon technology changes about every 10 years anything else is marketing and cosmetics. I haven't tried the reels. Nice review pal.

    Hi, after having the reels for a while, how you finding them? What's the drag system like? I have a number of Sonik carp rods which are great. Never bought a reel from them. I am looking for a new float fishing reel either the 3000/4000 model. The drag system is key for me. Thanks.

      I have used Sienna reels in the past and must agree, super reels for that price and have quite regularly recommended them for people on a budget. Shame they only come with one spool though.

    Great video and info. I’ve got this reel on my shortlist but do you think it would it be worth paying approximately £15 extra for either the Browning Black Magic FD or Preston Inertia reel?

    • @MatchfishingTVUK
      @MatchfishingTVUK  2 года назад +1

      I haven't seen the black magic but have heard positive things. Preston is tried and tested and well liked. If in doubt, try and get into a shop and have a look or order with the option to return. Hope that helps.

    Relatively new to fishing first attempt feeder fishing Santa brought me the SKS commercial rod and reel combo. One question when spooling the reel the line is laying lobsided but only on one side, not laying high top or bottom. Any reason why you think this could be? Using 8lb guru mono.

    I recently got a Matrix Aquos 3000. They are heavy, and I couldn't believe how stiff the bail arm is. Excessive spring pressure in the bail arm.
    I took apart the bail arm mechanism to see if I could fine tune it a bit to make it easier to use. I often shorten the springs on my reels to get a lighter feel. Adjusting the curve in the bail arm can also tune it to operate more smoothly.
    OMG, the internal components are utter crap. I wasn't expecting that.
    Cheap spring, Plastic parts and a bit of rough cut bent wire make up the mechanism. Not just poor quality but very, very poor quality. Not surprised that they used a strong spring. It is to overcome the crappyness of the internal parts.

    • @MatchfishingTVUK
      @MatchfishingTVUK  Год назад

      Really, that's not great? Do not have an acquos reel, but they look a little alike with the black blue finish.

    • @baldrickscunningplan6154
      @baldrickscunningplan6154 Год назад

      @@MatchfishingTVUK I am genuinely shocked at the extremely poor quality of the internal parts. The cam rod that compresses the bail arm spring is literally a piece of 1.5mm soft steel wire that looks like it was cut with a pair of pliers. That fits into a tiny piece of nylon that is worse than the nylon parts in a ball point pen. The spring is cheap soft steel. This reel has Chinesium all over it.

    Hiya! I bought a 3000 based on this review and it's the worst reel I have ever used. Drag doesn't work, line keeps getting tangled too. The top bit seems like it doesn't fit, it just doesn't go in straight for the drag. Throwing in the bin!

      Are you talking specialist carp fishing i.e targeting fish over 20lbs? If so, I'd look for a reel with a baitrunner. These do not have that. For general carp on float or feeder, they are fine, but if you need to spool thicker, stronger lines 8lb + no.

    I own 7 of the commercial rods- feeder and waggler versions and they are by far the best rods i have ever handled for the money, just ridiculously good. The sks reels however are just awful, its shame. How anyone can lump the rods in with the reels and say they all work fine/well without making any distinction is just beyond me. The rods are beautiful, the reels are clunky and lack the smoothness you would expect.
