This URL isn't for either of the musical acts you've mentioned. I'd leave a comment concerning them if it was. This video, I would assume, is typically watched by people that either enjoy listening to, or are curious about the sound of, Andy Shauf. The time link in my first comment still works if you, or anyone else clicking on this video, is interested.
This album was played during the worst time period of my life so far. At the lowest point of my being, I played it on repeat in hopes to return life into myself... and it did. And for that reason, I cannot listen to one of the most beautiful albums ever made in order to avoid re-living the painful experiences that troubled me before. But this album is god damn amazing, and sometimes, when I can stand to feel something painful, I'll revisit all of the songs and live - however momentarily - in this giant collection of beauty. So, I guess in short, Thank you for the music, Andy Shauf.
To deny yourself the pain you experienced during that period of your life, is to deny the very thing that makes you human. Revel in the fact and artist has the ability to evoke such emotion. Your past will always be your past...and now Andy Shauf is a part of it.
I had this album on repeat durin a particulaly rough period of my life. It was actually something of a light in the tunnel for me. Glad to find a kindred spirit. Hope you can listen more often & more easily. Cheers
6 years I was with the love of my life and we sat in the dark listening to this on repeat just on a massive downward spiral into heroin addiction once again... that was last winter. He passed away almost a month ago and I had left to get clean.. Funny enough I got gifted a clarinette by a stranger. The day I left him behind to save myself.. he didn't live much longer. Covered in dust, Drink my rivers, Jesus she's a good girl. Best

Just when I felt like giving up trying to find new good real music I was brought here. I'm so grateful and happy to be here today. Love to all and be blessed. Love and light is in all of us and surrounds us.
Recently acquired this album a few months back after seeing his photo in a line-up release for a small festival near me, and I am forever considering myself the luckiest man alive for finding him. This album is genuinely one of my favourite pieces of music I have ever had the pleasure of listening to - you know the ones where you learn every lyric, work out every chord, always try to bring it up in conversations.. I went to see him live in a tiny venue in London and bumped into him in the toilets, perhaps not the most ideal place to meet the creator of your life soundtrack. I managed to muster a "good luck" and "thanks for the songs." Thanks Andy for your beautiful music.
I know what you mean. I heard a song somewhere and I Shazamed it and forgot all about it. Half a year later I was going through my history of Shazams and was wondering who that artist was. When i sampled it I fell in love with the song again and decided to look him up to see where he's playing. It turns out he's playing 4 blocks away from my place in a few weeks. Of course I bought a tik. So looking forward to that. I also bought a Ty Segal tik, hehehe.
"I'm Not Falling Asleep" is hands down my favorite song. I always have to stop what I'm doing to listen to it. Heard it inside TLE while browsing one day and that was it for me
Recently discovered Andy: impressed! I am nobody, but still impressed. His ability to evoke emotions with his lyrics and emphasize them with his musical composition convinced me that his music is a treasure best shared.
This man is a master! Even after listening to this album 10 + times I find subtle twists in the lyrics I hadn't noticed before. Not to speak about the musical arrangements. Whoosh!
Big shout out to Andy and band who I caught at the Hollywood Bardot whilst being guardian to Australian band Chase Atlantic. Amazing performance and such great musicians love the vibe of our Canadians cousins...
Every time i listen to one of Andy's albums, i think "mm im not sure I like this as much as one of his others". Then the more I listen the more i love every single one. This album is beautiful.
I often find it hard to catch the meaning of a song by just listening to it. I get absorbed in the whole experience and can't think about the story. I just read through the lyrics for Jerry Was a Clerk and My Dear Helen. What a pair. He tells a really vivid story, I was almost brought to tears. Really loving Andy Shauf.
Was introduced to Andy's music via "The Magician" - such a brilliant tune. One wants to listen to it again and again. This album is great but so much slower than what made me a fan in the first place. One hopes he channels his talent into making music like The Magician and Jenny Come Home. The tempo and sheer depth of those tunes is incredible - they inspire me deeply.
Found this guy randomly on soundcloud a couple days ago, Jerry was a clerk was the song i first heard, He just has such a unique sound, ive had this album on repeat everywhere i go, its just fuckin outstanding. What a guy
Well, I thought this album came after the party, but just realised it was recorded years before!!! Wow, what a depth of skill, feeling and craftsmanship this person has! I am truly humbled!
"Exhales smoke and says here's to hopin'"--ouch. Hometown hero you have it better than you think. Just listen to some Andy Schauf that will give you something worth living for.

It has happened to me before with a few other albums, I love them no matter what, still the remembrance of pain comes back once it starts playing.

Elliott Smith-ish guitar and lyrics, his voice though is more Jeff Buckley. Good stuff
22:13 - You're Out Wasting 's very smith influenced
Well this album sticks with the theme of bringing up cigarettes in every song
And guns- there's at least four songs off the top of my head that have to deal with guns.
