I am generally upset when people dont use thunder on kyogre. Like my headcanon is; thats from where Ogre in his name comes. Orgre in asian culture do control the weather. I believe there are 2 ogre brothers one of which decided to be scapegoat so his brother can be happy. That one controls rain and thunder Might be wrong, i just remember there is a weather controlling ogre
I heard "32nd birthday" and really thought you meant "thirty second birthday" for a moment - like, yeah, it's your birthday but you only get to celebrate for half a minute
As soemone who's done a Sapphire Professor Oak's challenge, I know how much of a pain grinding on Route 117 is. I spent easily 20 hours during that challenge on that route alone.
Still requesting the POISONOUS SNAKE run with seviper and arbok. For FireRed or Heart Gold(soul silver might be easier if you don't want to grind voltorb flip) you can start with seviper, for Emerald you start with ekans, and you can get the other partway through the game.
I am once again asking you to take the fossil opposite the one you say you took. Just to see who notices. Yes, I know he took the Dome fossil on a fossils only run when he started with Omanyte. But that is not what I mean. I mean I want to hear "I took the Root fossil" while seeing the Claw fossil being taken. Or hearing "I took the Helix fossil" while seeing the Dome fossil being taken. And to those who say that this has happened before - when? Show me! I've looked and looked and have not seen it!
The groudon kyogre thing with types, ive always enjoyed the fannon talks about it. Groudon manages to be on par with kyogre, despite being weak to water normally then QUAD weak when primal reversioned. That suggests that he should be an absolute MONSTER stat wise to be able to withstand such a crushing type disadvantage.
On our way through, I took the root fossil. I knew if I didn’t say what I took, you’d all ask. Actually, now that I think about it, everyone asks anyway. Comments are good for the RUclips algorithm.
NANCY DREW REFERENCE!! I always love to hear a reference to THE let's-play from my favorite Nancy Drew player who is also famous for pokemon challenges ig
10:06 So if you had used Fake Out here (before Faint Attack) that would have chipped away what ended up being the sliver of health before all Attract stuff? Phew that close!
I absolutely LOVED your Pokemon Stadium playthrough with your friends...in fact, I think it's time for a re-watch soon! Great work as always. I didn't know that the weather improvements for Blizzard/Thunder worked in gen 3 either lol.
MDBAMA: In black and white play throughs, why don’t you take on Cynthia or Alder? You take on Red in silver and gold play throughs and Steven in Emerald. I’m gonna keep asking till I get on MDBAMA.
I have a bit of sacrilege here....I tried watching the Nancy Drew vids and I couldn't get into it 😖 Would 100% recommend L.A. Noir, Broforce, Super Mario 3, anything Pokemon related, any of the Hitman series, Deadly Prem 1 & 2 were 👌😎 there's SO MUCH to get into here. For any newcomers, you're guaranteed to find something awesome! Also, happy belated bday!
What's fun is, thanks to Scott's Thoughts testing, we know that Solrock and Lunatone are SHOCKINGLY even with each other, with Solrock getting the advantage vs Steven due to fire coverage.
I always come back to your videos for these challenge runs. I appreciate your will to sacrifice your time for grinding and doing things the old fashioned way. Also I’m most interested in the Pokémon that I never got to use. Like Seviper in this one. Maybe you should look up statistics about what the least used Pokémon are and do a run with that? A team run of the underdogs if you will.
I did a version exclusive run in pokemon violet and it was fun! The cool thing about version exclusive runs is you get to use pokemon you wouldn't normally use. An example for me was I have NEVER used Swalot or a Mismagius but I got to use them and after the run was done I liked Swalot and Mismagius a lot more.
Instead of training against the Wild Pokémon for Watson, run back & forth between New Mauville and the town Wally lives in. There are 4 trainers you can battle over & over. The Twins, both Pokebreeders (or whatever they're called, the balanced trainers with a full team), and the Nerd. Every 2 or 3 passes you can fight them again, you can even fight the trainers leading to the Surf route towards Fourtree City
Pokémon Yellow with first form versions of Ash Ketchums team Pokémon any Gen with the first 6 Pokémon you find in any route, but you can’t evolve them. You can swap out after gym leaders. Pokémon Any Gen but only using RNG moves (Psywave, Magnitude, etc) Pokémon Any Gen but you can only use standard poke balls Pokémon BW2 with only Ns Pokémon Pokémon HGSS with only headbutt tree and sweet scent Pokémon Or moves with random # of attacks like Double Kick, Double Slap, Fury Cutter, etc Fallout NV with thrown melee weapons only Fallout NV with only Nuka Cola (Nuka breaker and Nuka grenades) Fallout 4 with only Thirst Zapper Fallout 4 with only Power Armror and Cryolator Fallout NV with only the dart gun Fallout 4 with only Zeta Wave Gamma Gun Fallout 4 with only Shem Drowne Sword Fallout NV with only a nailed board/baseball bat Fallout NV with only Bladed Gauntlets
Flamethrower is only at the Game Corner in R/S, can't find it anywhere like with Ice Beam or Thunderbolt. That might be why he didn't use it. That or he forgot.
Interesting as always! Here are some ideas: How about a Vulpix only run in gen 4 platinum? Platinum could be easier, not entirely sure, wether it even is possible in gen 4 Heartgold/Soulsilber, but should in Platinum... Not difficult, but an Eeveelution run in gen 4 Platinum could be fun, and should give you some time to breath! Could you beat Pokémon Crystal as elite 4 Bruno? You sweep him most of the time, but would he be strong enough or worthy of being an Elite 4!
Wattson is such an unique gym leader! He is the only parafusion-themed gym leader out there. And yes, that's totally a type, if you disagree, you get thunder waved and confused as well. Also a very brief story time: I am very fond of Sapphire, it was the first game I managed to get my hands on shiny pokémon, a Linoone and a Seviper. And shiny Seviper looks SO COOL, needless to say I was beyond happy when I managed to catch it back then!
A couple notes on Seviper: *First, and foremost, level it up; it was two, possibly three, gyms behind in terms of levels. *Second, moveset; Seviper should absolutely be tapping into it's great coverage options on the special side. Namely, Giga Drain and Flamethrower.
This episode gave me whiplash. i had sapphire as a kid, and i NEVER KNEW! that Groudon wasn't a Fire type. I always thought it was Fire/Ground, with ground being secondary typing... Hell i thought you were kidding, so i looked it up. I hate this...
I never realised that they probably added Shiftry and Ludicolo as exclusives, because Shiftry gets Chlorophyll to pair with Groudon, and Ludi gets Swift Swim to pair with Kyogre. Somehow completley missed that
Curious. Why did you teach Kyogre Shock Wave instead of Thunder? Thunder is twice the power and because of Drizzle calling eternal rain, it can't miss either. So it's literally a Shock Wave at 2x power.
@@Stevenuniversefan-n4f Being a little fair, Flamethrower is only available at the Game Corner in R/S. He may have either forgotten or not had the money to buy it out.
Gen3 legendaries are the sky, sea and earth, so flying/dragon (because they seemed to have something against pure flying types existing prior to Tornadus), water and ground.
Was anyone else concerned that MDB was going to try to poison the steel type a la Pokémon platinum a journey? Hope everyone is having a nice day, including you Mah Dry
A pokemon game with only ducks would be amusing. In gen 1 you have far fetched and the psyduck line. In gen 5 you get ducklett. Probably others in other gens that I can’t think of.
Suggestion: Pokemon Fire Red with only Bear Thief. What a majestic creature. (Loved the run. Was happy to see sableye in action. Such a good little gremlin)
Actually I think you should do these same challenges in ORAS. I think the Ruby team can redeem itself even if you don't allow the Lati twins, because you didn't use them here. You'll have access to your Fire Groudon, but the real interesting one is Mawile. With Heart Scales it gets easy access to Steel and Fairy STAB moves. You can compare how much of an upgrade Mega Mawile is to Mega Sableye. It will have a rough start still, but it will come into its own around the halfway point.
Shed Skin does cure sleep- it has a 1/3 chance of curing all non-volatile status conditions(burn, freeze, sleep, badly/poision, and paralysis). Funny enough though, in only Ruby and Sapphire there's an oversight where it will cure sleep, but the Pokemon will still be effected by Nightmare, as if it was still asleep.
They probably didn't make Groudon a Fire Type because they didn't want the Continent Pokémon to be weak to Ground moves... only to see how much easier Kyogre had it, so they made Primal Groudon, a Pokémon which is weak ONLY to Ground moves.
Groudon wasn't Ground/Fire because it would then become 4x weak to water despite the sunny day. Mega Groudon was made Ground/Fire since his signature ability nullify water damage.
I have an idea for a fun challenge, One that means you could even use Drowzee. Can you beat Pokemon Black (Or any game from gen's 5 ,6 or 7) with only the move Assist? Purrloin learns Assist at level 6 so it'd be the starter, Then if you get a male Purrloin you can breed it with other's to get more Pokemon. I think this would be a great wacky challenge since the more Pokemon on your team the more random the move is. For any that don't know Assist uses a random move known by any of the user's party Pokémon, With some exceptions. So even Pokemon that can't use Assist would still be useful if they have good moves that Assist can use. Drowzee is in the Human-Like Egg Group so If you want one with Assist you'd need a Spinda since they're in the Field and Human-Like Egg Groups so can breed with Purrloin and Drowzee. You could also use a Chimchar as a starter if you give it Assist as an Egg Move, They're also in the Field and Human-Like Egg Groups so a male one can breed the move into any Pokemon with Assist.
Should’ve taught Kyogre Thunder instead of Shock Wave because with Drizzle, Thunder never misses

Yeah, I absolutely should have. I thought that rain making Thunder 100% accurate was a gen 4 thing like Blizzard and Hail. My bad!
Been watching the show ever since the first few Pokemon challenges, they’ve become my go to videos to put on while I cook on the weekends :)

Groudon being ground only makes sense given the whole land vs sea deal with the games
It also makes sense when you see the legendary three as references to Leviathan (Kyogre), Behemoth (Groudon), and Ziz (Rayquaza).

Pokemon emerald with one bagon
You lose zangoose with sword dance but you get Pokémon that actually useful in sapphire
My guess for why Groudon isn't part fire is so it won't be 4x weak against Kyorge to give it a better and more believable chance of being it's rival😂
It's funny that after all these years, MDB still tries to hit normal pkmn with ghost type moves 😅
I love to see a run with my favourite Pokémon, sableye
WOOO SAPPHIRE BABY!!!!
Primordial Forms fixed Groudon by A) giving it a juiced up Drought that negates water moves
