- Stallone underwent intense physical training to portray the physically demanding role of John Rambo. He wanted to convincingly portray a former Green Beret with exceptional survival and combat skills.
Stallone performed many of his own stunts, including the famous scene where Rambo jumps off a cliff into a tree. This dedication to realism added authenticity to the action sequences.
Stallone's involvement in the editing process was crucial in shaping the final result action movie.
The first film is often considered a classic and is remembered as one of the defining movies of the 1980s action genre."First Blood" is known for its intense action sequences, Stallone's iconic portrayal of the character, and its exploration of the challenges faced by Vietnam veterans upon their return home.

What a lot of people don't know (maybe some do) but after the stunt double jumped off the cliff ... Sly decided to do the scene where he was falling through the trees and when he hit the branch that hurt his arm....he literally broke a rib and continued going on with it until the scene was done ! Stallone is a tough dude.... bottom line !! My main Man !!

I recently re-watched the first four movies and always come back to this one because it was the least commercialized and tells the origin story inside the mind of the man rather than blatantly glorify his superhuman abilities.
Gem of a movie. Action blockbuster with so much of emotion flowing through. Thanks to Gerry Goldsmith for his incredible masterpiece as well.

@@MultiSweener We loved it. My Dad was on town Council at the time when one of the Producers did a delegation in front of Council to pitch the idea. They dumped over a Million dollars into the local economy which was a lot of money back in 1981

Yep. I was thinking about our 80s movies hero's that are still making an impact. And i thought of Stallone and Cruise. However. Stallone wrote his movies. Big impact on cinema. Im just glad they are still providing us with excellence. In a era of crap movies with political agendas.
Rocky won for Best Picture, and he wrote Rocky. So, somewhat he was highly praised by the Academy.

И со мной пошла моя тетя, чтоб поддержать меня ( знаю, что ей было не интересно смотреть такие фильмы она поклонница Болливуда) но тогда она сделала мой день. Фильм был шикарный и море впечатлений.Всегда вспоминаю этот случай. Спасибо тётя

I fell for the film straight away when I went to see it for the first time with my parents and my siblings in a movie theatre back in 1983. All the actors in the movie were well performed. Sylvester Stallone, Brian Dennehy and Richard Crenna in particular whose acting skills that I admire a lot. * P.s, I like the music that RUclips use for this video. I didnt see it in the theater but I remember watching it on TV at age 14 as the "NBC Sunday Night Movie" in May 1985 --- it was riveting and I demanded to my Dad that I go see "Rambo II" when it opened in the theaters in a month LOL

I wish a new "Rambo" movie would be shot in "Hope Town" and this movie would be the finale of the series.
Super hero in my childhood. I still remembered first blood originated from a casual incident which reflected the inequalities in the society.
The book is initially about the mistreatment of Vietnam Vets --- but then becomes about class warfare and PTSD in America
Its cold(you see other people) but he is with tshirt.hard act.very successfully.and good nostalgy.that movie remind me of my childhood.

Great movie, even if it's not "tactical correct" I love this one! The movie is better than the book actually as I see it. And like someone else wrote -back in the days when they filmed stuff for real and in real locations.
In the book they do make it more clear that teasle is a war veteran as well, korean war. And teasles relationship with orvall, the guy with the dogs, is more in depth. It starts to make more sence that way wy teasle simply just doesnt want to back off, no: he's going to get that "kid" no matter what. Movies great, but the book is definitly worth reading still.
Great movie with a great serious topic. Ppl think Rambo was shallow movie, but in fact it is very deep touching a topic of veterans and how they find themselves after leaving army service, back in the 80s it was even more actual topic.
