Jet was one of the first electric bass guitar players and one of the best, seriously under rated. Even Paul McCartney used to learn from him in the early 60's.

RIP Jet - still the best bass player ever.

Such an interesting story Jet tells, although it’s quite sad in some respects it also shows his grit & determination to move forward with his life despite the setbacks. I’m glad he found happiness & contentment with Janet, RIP Jet! ❤

Jet Harris didn't leave The Shadows. He was fired because of his alcoholism:
"Hank and I didn't want to go on stage with a drunk, so we offered him a compromise. We were prepared to stop working for three months while he sought counsel and a cure for his problem and went to a special clinic. He refused. He didn't think he had a problem. So Hank and I had one of our meetings and decided it was in the best interests of everyone if Jet left.
"We were appearing at the New Musical Express poll winners' concert at Wembley on Sunday, 15 April 1962, when we broke the news. As usual, we found Jet propping up the bar in the artistes' enclosure backstage. He was well on his way to alcoholic oblivion. He was told that we didn't need his services any longer."

I knoiw it's too late now unfortunately, but why didn't he get a bunch of musicians together and tour as a Shadows covers band playing all the old hits (Apache, Frightened City, Wonderful Land etc.)? He'd have made a good living that way.

I thought he should have formed a band and played 60's hits and covers. A regional theatre / hall band. Not as successful as the wealthier Shadows who sold albums and toured successfully for years. As he says here he had had enough of the Shadows. It appears he blew his money from Diamonds and earlier Shadows music. The car crash I didn't know about. Not working for 3 years.
