I happened to be at a conference and sitting at a table with the delightful Anna Post at one of the lunches when a man pointed out that I was eating ‘incorrectly’ i.e, in the continental style (I’m British but have lived in the US for many years). I felt really self conscious after that and lovely Anna quietly mentioned who she was and reassured me that it was perfectly fine and in fact the man was rude for saying anything about it.
@@ingridwatsup9671 incorrect. you hold fork upside down and scoop rice with knife and smush it in between the tongs of the fork. then you lift it up and eat.
@@poisonivy6477incorrect again! you use the knife to press the rice into the tines of the fork as it is pointed DOWN, then you lift it to your mouth in the same fashion as everything else, tines down.
Watching Americans juggle their knives and forks around their "dominant" and "non-dominant" hands is like watching them struggle with introducing the metric system, universal healthcare or school shootings.
Yeah, it's a beast eating that way as an American. That's why many Americans typically eat informally at home with our dominant hand at all times and cut our food with our non-dominant hand. We don't switch. We only do that juggling when it's a formal dinner when we are not at home.

How do you eat rice using the continental style? This has always been problematic.
You eat rice with a spoon in your right hand and a vork left to push it on the spoon.

^😂😂😂
In American style, is it now acceptable to rest the non-dominate wrist on the table? Hand in the lap seems ridiculous.
Hey, I enjoy watching your videos! Are you in audea btw?

😬
Ouch. Let's tag that one to the liberals and not the rest of the country.

Agree with 2 of 3 - I love the imperial system.
