I think you'll find that they are ALL gas turbines but of different varieties. Early engines we Turbojets, then we developed low bypass Turbofans and now we have the efficient high bypass Turbofans.
i guess the rejection system only works for small particles of sand no birds no water make an engine that is 80 percent efficient and that would impress me
According to the Newton's second law : F = ma ; Thrust = mass of air sucked into the engine multiplied by its change in speed. So, on a given F, the more mass of air sucked into, the less acceleration. Compare Turbofan to Turbojet, Turbofan is like Diesel engine, Turbojet is like Ferrari V12 engine.
All this engines are turbofan and turbojet at the same time : turbofan to make the bypast of air over the core of the engine and balance the speed between the jet stream and the plane , and turbojet because all the air burnt in the combustion chamber is comppresed by hight pressure compresor
I'm trying to understand why an engine designed to suck air into itself is more efficient than the older designs. I guess it's time to go to engineering school. Hot exhaust versus cold (extremely cold) air. Whatever.
@incognitostatus Hey dude... still waiting to hear what you think I should be reading? It's easy to make pithy comments without any substance, so how about you back it up with some explanation as to why I need to do some reading.
I can't believe how often he repeats "advanced" without really explaining anything. American marketing at its worst... or finest: depends how you look at it.
once again another advertisment for Ge and there engine im not saying they cant do it but if there going to teach us something ill rather they use a different engine and not there own
If I recall correctly, the GE90 he keeps referring to is the engine used on the 777.

Yaayyyyy.....! I finally found the narrator for the voices in most commercials.
Love to see a similar video on their anti gravity drives...but i guess my grandkids might when they finally fess up
Great idea ... explain ... how turbofan engine work
@maousn75 I agree 100% man. There's nothing like a P&W motor.
Imagine a person like him sucked into one of those
pistons...valves ? ok,maybe it is a TYPE of gas turbine im not gonna argue with the turbofanman i may be proven wrong

And this engine isn't for use on the 777! This will be used on the new 787.
So how does a turbo fan work?
If only this was a How a Gas turbine works video and not a GE sales video... told me nothing about how a Gas Turbine works.
this engine is not a gas turbine,its a high bypass turbo fan
Amazing!!
would be cooler if the guy got soaked in
muy bueno
@insaneclown271 er... thanks but I knew that... not sure why you felt I was the one missing that point, but thanks anyway!
ummm....actually....it IS a gas turbine....oh wait no im so sorry you're right...its a reciprocating engine...with pistons n shit...valves...
good
I want to work in ge........

@FlyBoyRez
Yep, corporate marketing at its finest. Buzzwords and hype out the wazoo, but no substance of any sort.
@FlyBoyRez
try reading, it wouldn't hurt you.

@maousn75 LOL
