  • STUDIO APT ON WHEELS - VAN TOUR - 1996 DODGE RAM VAN 2500 - Featuring a DIY PVC pipe SHELF
This is my official van tour video. I obviously made it myself and love the sound of my own voice.
I have a Dodger Blue and Gray 1996 Dodge Ram Van 2500. I recently had a new engine dropped into her because the original had issues with the rod and rather than waiting to break down in god know where, we decided to spend the money now and make sure we are always safe out there on the road.
The van features a queen sized bed, a PVC pipe shelf and a standard two door cabinet you can get just about anywhere.
The van is fully insulated and paneled with wood on the inside with a vinyl faux-wood floor. Everything is buttoned up with some skilled metal work. I did NOT do the conversion. I bought it ready-to-go. I did however move the bed from center to the passenger wall freeing up storage space on the driver's side wall and I added the PVC hanging shelf. There is a lot of storage space under the bed and along the wall.
I do NOT have solar, marine batteries, a heater, sink, nor ceiling fan. I am running all I need off of the Jackery Explorer 240 Portable Power Station. This is capable of running all my devices and portable fans. All of my lights are battery powered LED.
I bought this van in July 2020 and it has been my home ever since.

Wow, that’s awesome! I’m glad you got something useful out of my video. While I’ve never been to China but I could only imagine how great it would be to have the converted van in which to see it all. Best of luck to you.

Hi. Nice van! I have some suggestions... Instead of placing a fan on the roof, how about placing it underneath the van where the air is cooler and using Ducting under the windows will keep the condensation from forming. Those roof fans are giveaways that you are inside. Have you ever seen those Explorer Camper Vans? They have a section of the floor by the side doors that is lowered into the floor. Doing that would help you have more head room! Check out the "Original Brown Box Heater" They are very small, have a thermostat and they use very little electricity! Yes a RV Battery would be useful.... get rid of the propane!!!! Use an Induction Cooktop! That propane puts off to much condensation water!!!! Good luck! Have Fun!

Cool, if or when I start making changes to my van I’ll take your advice under consideration. Definitely going to stay away from propane.

Nice Van. Cool to see other builds. My Van in CA was expensive but I love it.
Purchased in Kansas for $36,000 and CA Registration was $11,000. Expensive due to Diesel Import Emission Taxes.
I wish I had bought something older and under the $10k range. Mine is now in the $100k Range lol
