Hi John, Excellent layout update on the new extension. The fencing looks awesome as well as the transloading area. You did a great job on the concrete slab. I really like how the overgrown area turned out, I 'll have to try some of that scenery material on my layout. The locomotive sounds really good. That is fantastic news that you are enjoying the local train club. I am sure they are glad to have you as a member. I am looking forward to your next video. -Tom
That locomotive sounds amazing, has quite a stack on it. The addition looks great and that truck and bulk trailer is so sharp. That scenery is fantastic, some of the most realistic bushes and overgrowth I have seen. Cool that you joined a club, should help get the running out of your system, lol. Great update John. Cheers, Rob
Thanks Brotha! I appreciate the comment. Yes the club is definitely allowing me to run some awesome trains from my collection. I will definitely post some run by videos in the future.
Your landscaping looks awesome. The brush between the track and layout edge in front of the Ferraro Foods Warehouse looks spot on for winter scenery. Some of the most realistic model brush I've seen. The melting snow piles are perfect and that fence looks great. You have amazing modeling skills. The club you joined should be happy to have you. 👍
John.. great addition to your existing shelf. That turquoise bldg in the corner looks so complete in and of itself. You never fail to amaze.. so, if you add on to it.. I guess it will be spectacular as well.
I just love to watch your layout updates! Great looking Pete and dry bulk trailer, John! Your small switching layout is giving me ideas to do one for myself! I need to get on the ball with my N Scale Truck Bunk Lines, Natural Gas Loading facility! Roy
Thanks Peter! I am very happy with the results and am tempted to redo other sections on the layout with this look. It never ends lol Thanks for watching
John, I love your eye for landscaping and the detail you have packed into you railroad. You prove you don't have to have a huge layout to be impressive. I'm Impressed!
THANK YOU...for sharing. Your modeling skills are fantastic, in the beginning, I thought you were videoing a real train spotting some cars. Great up-date. Gary
Very nice looking scene, you did a great job. Very realistic and neat. I could tell from the shot of your work area that you are very organized. Thanks for sharing 👍👍👍😎😎😎 Cary
I've watched your videos for some time now but finally felt I had to say WELL DONE! If that's what you call 'not much' progress I'd hate to see your output if you really got a move on! That's a wonderful new scene you've created, in a relatively short time, AND gives you loads of additional operating potential. You should be very pleased with yourself! Best wishes from the UK, Ian
Thank you Ian. One nice benefit of having a small layout is being able to focus on small sections at one time. Thanks for following along. I appreciate the support.
Looking good with the addition. I really like the fence area, it has a real feel with the pile their. Also I hope to start so scenery myself next month and start having fun too.
Ah my FAVORITE workbench product. Hobby Zone modular kits. They are awesome! They link together with magnets so you can configure anyway you want and there are a bunch on different kits. I will eventually do the entire bench. But be warned... they are addicting lol
Thanks Tim. I stuck to my guns on holding back on the track work and modeling more scenery. I kept it simple yet its plenty for keeping busy switching inbound and outbound cars. Thank you for following along!
John, ur eye for detail is amazine cant believe u finished it this fast, u all ways give me a lot of ideas just watching ur videos cant wait to see ur next one great video.
yeah! great layout update John, thank you! looks really good, specially like the fencing, great job there. really looking forward to that upcomming weathering video :)
As usual out standing work 👍 the expansion and new industry is looking fantastic! Loving the build up of the bushes and grass. Keep it up; you’re really doing an outstanding job!
Nothing new for me. We are looking to buy a new airplane within the next 12 months. So that’s exciting. My boss has been at home and plans to stay home with this Virus. So lots of time for modeling lol
Looks Great!I was hoping that maybe your next video might be a switching operation video with your Conrail B-36-7 all faded and weathered(hint-hint).Always look forward to your videos.
Wow that is one sharp set up. I'm working on a Injection Molding plant my self. I wonder way Trucks-N-Stuff hasn't come out with a pneumatic tanker for dry bulk and plastic pellet loads.
Thanks John! I actually have one built and on the layout, it is just in the wrong spot lol I planned to have the unloading area in a different location before the extension was built. I still need to move it over.
@@RailserveJohn LOL. I should have known. You're an amazing modeler in all you do. I have enjoyed following all your posts. Thanks so much for all the great info and tips you've given us all.
Hey John just wondering how you are doing. Was just out on the front porch watching trains. I live about 75yds from the CSX main through Harlem Ga. . The last few weeks they have been running super trains with helpers mid train and a few with them on the rear also. I've been doing a lot of weathering changing some track.
Thank you! Yes a great group of guys and a wonderful layout. I was really nervous about inquiring to join after hearing so many horror stories about some clubs shunning younger members. But they were very welcoming and enthusiastic about my modeling.
very impressive, John..... you mentioned making a lighting tower for the bulk transfer lot..... scratch built or commercial? I have used the very small LEDs with very small solder contacts.... tricky..... and used magnet wire for running through the tower... please show us what you have in mind..... my harbor pier has a two light tower made from scrap bridge parts and looks okay.... lastly, kudos on not adding graffiti to your weathering process..... it's bad enough the railroads no longer use their cars as traveling billboards, but the splash of mindless (mostly) spray paint is a big turn off. cheers from Bellows Falls where we are seeing Pan Am reroutes due to the Hoosac Tunnel closure (reopens in a month)...
Thanks William, I have been looking at a few pre-made towers on ebay but may end up building some myself. I will for sure include them in a future video whichever way I go. lol I do add some graffiti but I try to keep it at a minimum. Thanks for following along! John

Hey John, leaving that comment to ask about what styrene sheets you used to create that green building with. I'm looking to create a similar building and I really like that "pattern" and how that looks. Have a great weekend!
Thanks for stopping in Joey! I used Evergreen 4529 Corrugated Metal Siding .100" They come in a single pack and I think I used a total of 3 to make that structure. Let me know if you have any other questions. All the best, John
Nice work John....the landscaping around the food industry looks like it been mulched....like the drywall patch cement. Couple questions: you mix the paint in the container or separate some out then mix and where did you get that shrubbery from? Anthony
Thanks Anthony! With the spackling, I found it easier to mix in a separate / larger container. Mix more than you think you’ll need as it will be hard to match the tone on a second batch. I used artist pigments. I found them at Michaels brand named Tints All. A little goes a long way. For the scenery materials check out Scenic Express. Martin Welberg. I swear by this stuff. It looks so good out of the box it’s nearly impossible to screw up lol. I used high and low bushes for the overgrown area. All the best, John
Your layout is a big inspiration to me. I am literally starting to build the framework tonight for my own version. You have really made the most of a reasonable amount of space. I blame you for the $$$$ I am about to spend Where should I send the bill 😋
Your extension looks great. The tip on tinting is good idea. I have seen a few roads on layouts that get chipped and you see bright white. Did you seal the expansion lines after darkening them with the pencil?
Thanks Scott. I did not seal the surface. I found tinting and leaving the material raw allows weathering powders and the pencil lines to absorb into the surface. It also leaves a fine porous look that looks really good close up. Thanks for following along.
Wow! Your modelling skills never fail to impress me. Good job!
Thank you!
Love the muted colors on the food building. Subtle but realistic
Hi John, Excellent layout update on the new extension. The fencing looks awesome as well as the transloading area. You did a great job on the concrete slab. Looks great!! It would be neat to keep the roadbed of the old track next to the green building, and have it abandoned.

Thanks Roy! Yeah man, with N scale it doesn't take much real estate to have a nice switching layout. Heck it could probably fit in your sleeper lol
You'll have plenty of time to do some modeling while out of work from the knee surgery. Good luck with that by the way. 👍
I love the weathering on the covered hopper. The grass and bushes look great too. - Paul
