My family is originally from Chippewa and I had no inkling about the railway, which would have been operating during my grandfather's childhood - he was a hydroelectrical engineer. So cool. Thank you NSS!
Visited the falls in October 2023, amazing place and history. We stayed at the marriot falls view on the Canadian side ! Surprised that something is not being done to make the Toronto power station into a tourist attraction? There is a youtube video of the inside of the building as it is in disrepair. We had to go out of our way just to see it ,though it is not far from other attractions! Our visit exceeded all my expectations!!
We were not and we had to find it ourselves as it didn’t seem to be an attraction that is presently being promoted and the inside is in disarray. There is a RUclips video of someone exploring the inside !!
informative video. I grew up in Niagara Falls. My grandparents immigrated from England in 1912, and uncles and grandfather were electricians, and my grandpa was Hydro Commissioner for a time so I was exposed to the history of Niagara's power generation from a young age. As a teen I used to ride my bike past the Sir Adam Beck plant to the Queenston Heights park. The Niagara River Parkway along the river between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario is still a beautiful place to drive/ride/walk. There are many interesting stories about historic Niagara and its architecture, Steve, if you decide to make the trek around to the other side of the lake again anytime soon.
Was recommended your channel recently and have been enjoying your videos quite a lot :) Many thanks for your hard work to keep us entertained and informed
Hello Steve. I stumbled across your lost bridge on Lawrence Ave. and it reminded me of a conversation I had with an older relative. I was told of a one lane bridge in Scarborough with a traffic light at each end signaling which east or west direction could procced. This bridge was located on Lawrence Ave East somewhere between Midland Ave and Markham Rd. over some waterway or creek, I am unable to find an info. and thought if you were able to you could have another interesting vid for your subscribers including your latest. (me)
Thanks for the idea! I don't know the bridge you mention but I'll keep an eye out ... and you did give me an idea about another bridge that is similar to your description.

Also, we visited a beautiful called Niagara by the lake which is a half an hour from the falls and worth the visit and a beautiful drive as well !!!
They are supposed to start renovating it this year and turn it into an attraction/hotel. It’s a quite remarkable piece of architecture.

Excellent video
Great video NSS! Makes me nostalgic for the area. Spent time as a kid in Fonthill, not very far away.

Niagara Falls!! Slowly I turned, step by step...
I love Niagara Falls
Whilst vacationing in Cuba ten years ago, I met a young Cuban lad whose wish was to visit Niagara Falls.
No not him!
Tesla had nothing to do with this generating station. If anything the plant is monument to Tesla's real forte - self-marketing.
