Shadows Fall is truly a great band that doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I first heard them in Madden 2008 for the song redemption, and now I love them.
Metal transcends all other forms of music because Metal is a way of life! You will not find fans that are more passionate about their music than Metal fans. You will also not find any other style of music that is practiced in back alleys and garages of every single town and city in every corner of Earth like Metal is.
See, I'm not a massive fan of melodic choruses and some SF choruses can break up a perfectly good up-tempo song and draw it out too much - but the chorus in this is fucking awesome, I love the kicks on the drums where another kick gets put in at each chorus so you start with eighth notes in the first chorus then moves all the way up to sixteenths in the last chorus - just pro!
they bing a certain level of classicness in their music. a great blend of heavyness and melody. in my opinion one of the best metal bands out there. but for me the black dahlia is the best. id love to see them tour together
I don't give a godamn what anyone says about this genre or that genre, half of em don't know a thing about music to begin with and also listen to shitty bands, so personally "metalcore" is a lame label, I just refer to awesome heavy bands as THAT! Labels are made by bias small minds to package something! Fuk that rediculous thinking, or lack thereof! If people said THE BEATLES or LED ZEPPLIN were "oldcrusty" so they sucked I'd still LOVE their music! Fuk the critics! \m/

Bands such as Sonata Artica or Stratovarius share many features with pop: catchy voice melodies, repetitions, and metal bands usually have similar patterns of composition, so 1 could blame metal as well as pop of sounding always the same. A thing that makes people scared of metal is precisely its fanatism,this crusade to make people realize that metal is so great.

Jon Donais is still a genius - love his style, his solos are melodic yet chaotic and dare I say a little sloppy in places (he definitely multi-tracks them on the albums) but they are so damn creative.... this tune though... been ages since I heard this. Crushing Belial... damn gonna listen to Of One Blood again

And ppl dont compare this band to Metallica like the guys before said they are totally diferent styles of metal and not just that but the technicality of SF is much better. Oh and if you guys have a song of SF that you could point me too could you share?
certain agree with all the multi-genre listeners here, never get limited by the misleading labels that some people call 'genres' there's only 2 genres of music: good and bad music

@youjerkbryan Not to interject in your discussion, but hip-hop was originally music of rebellion. I hate mainstream hip-hop but underground hip-hop still has it's touch. It's been hijacked along with mainstream rock and turned into a simplistic generic corporate mechanism to crank out hits according to a cookie cutter formula which can be easily reproduced for maximum profits.
This is my first time listening to this band, they're good. I like Slipknot, bfmv, Bmth, and love a7x. People have different tastes and I'm not gonna fight over what specific genre it is becuz if it sounds good I like it and that's that:p
Just to light up the situation Metalcore is smth btw metal and hard punk it is somewhere on the intersection that is why it doesnt really sound BUT if u say that bands like Chimaira are not metal thats an insult, and indeed metal roots are bands like slayer metalica and other doesnt mean i like them though but i respect they made a beginning
