I dry my herbs in my fridge. Just harvest the leaves, wash them, then put them into a jar without a lid. They will be dried in a week or two. I get the best result with oregano.
That's a different method I haven't heard yet! Will give it a try. My mint is looking gorgeous and ready to be harvested. Thank you.
Pls were can i buy d mint leaf from
@@johnabigail3103 Buy a mint plant from Homedepot in 2 in pot in the spring. Pot it up in a 2 gallon pot. You can grow it indoor next to a south or east facing window with good morning sun. Cut it and it will regrow again.

Vanillaspicecream lvl. 3 you do know some people prefer to smoke mint over weed or tobacco. Mint is used for a number of things including smoking, it has many benefits. Do your research before saying something.
That is why I’m watching this vid
This was a nice simple video on how to dry my mint, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
This was a great video! You do a good job at telling each step in an easy way. Thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate the kind feedback 😊
Thank you for your help!!! This is a pretty good guide for drying a huge number of herbs
You're welcome! Yea you can pretty much do this with any herb as well.
I love your minty fresh music
Thanks for the video. I have a 4x4 bed of mint I just harvested this morning. Now, on to drying it!
Sounds great! That's a good amount of mint.
I bought a mesh hanging herb air dryer from Amazon and am using that for drying my herbs. Mine has 6 sections and i just lay my herbs on the mesh bottom of one and that's it. You get air flow on all sides plus the top and bottom. The mesh is dark green which keeps things dark for them as well as protects the herbs from pets (cat and dog), dust, etc. I can dry large bunches of 6 different herbs at the same time. Super easy to use. They come in 2 sections up to 8 sections.
oooh that sounds like a great alternative to making bunches and hanging them up, thank you for letting us know there is such a thing. I was not aware!
I was thinking about getting one of those. Where do you hhang yours while they dry. How long?? Im new to this...Thanks

Processing my 1st batch of mint, with your Great directs. I wanted to let you know I used one piece of long thin wire to wrap my mint leaves together. It made it quick and easy with just a few turns around each group of branches. Then stretching them across my shed to dry. Thanks Again, Your Great.
thank you lady for a wonderful video
You are welcome!
Wow mint my favourite with tea
Nice! Are you growing some mint for tea?
My house is tiny and closets and pantry’s are shared spaces. I hung my mint and dried it but had lots of dry crumbly leaves around. This method is great if you can leave the mint along to dry. Great for folks with space. One comment suggested using the fridge. I will try that. Another comment suggested an Amazon hanging air rack with shelves. All very interesting and since I love mint I appreciate all these methods. Thank you.
You could get a cork board and hang it from thumbtacks on the wall, or even hang it from a curtain rod.
Great thanks
That is why my mint loves my place. We love the creator, and we tend it in the evening and morning here.

Your pantry must smell divine :-)
Thank you! I am already almost halfway through my dried mint stash believe it or not! Love the tea!
Lovely guide, thank you! I have spearmint, orange mint, and peppermint. Can they all be dried using this method?
Yes! pretty much any herb can be dried this way. Glad it was helpful to you! Thanks Amy
I saw the kitty tail ❤❤❤❤
Just a tip: If you have space you can lay them flat on a table on a towel, rather than in bunches, it will take less than a week vs 2 weeks.
Nice tip! Thanks for sharing!
growing your own mint is best thing to do, no mint tea can compare to your own 100% natural mint, same about other herbs you can brew tea from
Yes I agree 💯 and it’s the easiest herb to grow!
Thanks so much! I wasn't sure if mint would be an herb that has to be dried in the oven.
Also--kitty tail!!! :)
You are so welcome!
Hello a outside washing rack with chicken wire is awsome to wash vegtable outside

Yea they take over the garden and get huge lol

@@NickandJulie mint in general helps weather mint oil or even just edible mints it’s soothing
@@kinadafurry7353 wow I was just looking for the answer to this question!! I’m all out of oil but I have some dried leaves. Having it in tea hasn’t done anything for me (perhaps I’m not making it strong enough) and neither does heating it on my stove so I was hoping it was safe to smoke!
@@valeriexoxo it’s safe movie companies use dried mint leaves in there prop cigarettes
Hi, ive been using a solar dehydrator to dry mint and on some of the leaves I'm noticing brown spots develop as they dry. I'm wondering if you have any thoughts. I've been composting a lot of mint. Thank you
wow! look at the huge leaves! what variety is that?
Looks like Spearmint
I really liked this video but the volume of the music is so much higher than your voice. I had to mute the tv when you were not speaking. Sorry!
Noted for next time! Thank you!
I love the vid and music
Great video, but I recommend to follow the same instructions this video except after drying the mint put it in a microwave for one to two minutes instead of two weeks same flavor same taste absolutely the same except it is faster than the old method.🙏🏼👍🏻
Thanks for the tip! Any idea if that zaps the good stuff in the herbs?
@@NickandJulie 🙂as I mentioned the first time it taste exactly the same, and it does not zaps any of the herbs goods or flavor, I truly enjoyed your video. It reminds me of how my grandma used to dry her herbs.🙂 she was an excellent cook but back then she didn’t have a microwave🤣
@NickandJulie they've been micro-waved
Thank you for your video, how long does the mint keep a good taste when you dry it this way? Thank you 😊
I would say a year, until the next harvest 🍃
What will you do with them?
Is it possible to drink mint tea with hypertension?

How do i dry dill?
I cut my mint longer stemed annd wonder about grindng th estems after removing the leaves. Can you do that and use the stems for powder?
It would be interesting to try. Not sure if the stringy stem will work, let us know if you give it a try!
Did it work?
So now i know how to dry mint ( much thanks ), but what can i do with dried mint besides make tea ?
Smoke?
adakbos dos i’m not a smoker tho, also why smoke it ? Mint doesn’t have nicotine in it or does it ?
One idea besides tea: we visit a Turkish restaurant and they have a delicious red lentil soup on the menu that I thought I tasted mint in. When I went to search for a recipe, sure enough, there is mint, but looks like only about half a tsp. But I am excited to give it a try at home. Looking at this recipe. www.landsandflavors.com/turkish-red-lentil-soup/
anyone else have any suggestions?
So mint is actually a great treat for rabbits who have diarrhea, so you could give some to any pet rabbits or make party cracker toys with treats in them (it's just a toilet paper tube wrapped in like brown paper bag material with mint inside, and then use twine to close the ends)
Looks like spearmint? It must smell so good. May I know how long you have to harvest them before they go dormant? I’ve been trying to propagate mint forever but once I get roots and put them in soil they never survive.
I just harvest during the whole growing season. Before mint flowers is best. But if you keep harvesting, they will not produce as much flowers. That’s interesting what is your climate/soil like? Mine is like a weed spreads everywhere 😅
Nice video, how long can it be stored in the jar?
I’d say about a year is a good mark but technically it lasts longer. Keep in a cool, dry, dark place 😃
how long it can be stored... please.. loves the process..
For a year if stored correctly! Store in cool dry dark place. Thank you!
@@NickandJulie in hostel almirah??
Thank you for this video, how long can you stock dry mint?
Probably for as long as it stays dry
What type of mint do you grow? The leaves are massive!
I don't know the name of this variety, it was shared by a family member.
what kind of mint is that?
What do you do with the dry mint after? Uses of dried mint, purpose?
to smoke
I use it for tea ☕
@Vladimir Putin wise man
2 weeks tho?
Tea...here we go.
YES!!! A cold virgin mojito with fresh mint leaves right about now sounds so good in this heat!
How long you took to dry the peppermint leaves?
about 2 weeks to air dry.
they mold when you washed before drying?
No mold. After I washed the mint I put them on the bench with air circulation from all sides so the water dried off quickly overnight. Then they were ready to hang to dry.
i must axe what's the name of that Nicolay track???
If we don’t have dark please we have to put in our bedroom closet..?
Yes you can. You can put a paper bag or newspaper cone over the leaves and dry them there.
Hey, I Dried my mint for 2 weeks. Now it gives that crunchy sound but it isn't crushable. Should I dry it more?
Yes you can dry it for longer. Sometimes if the weather is humid it can take longer to dry.
@@NickandJulie Okay. Tysm!❤
Would drying them directly under sun fasten the drying?
Direct sunlight will turn the leaves brown and will compromise the oils in the leaves making them useless. Always avoid direct sunlight when drying herbs :)
@@NickandJulie pls were can i buy dem?
How long can we store dried mint in room temperature
A year 🙂
Why do you recommend not cutting mint in the midday sun or when it is humid?
The heat of the sun causes essential oils to vaporize. We want as much essential oils in the leaves as possible. Humidity makes drying difficult and can cause herbs to mold.
@@NickandJulie thank you greatly for this. I picked some mint in the humidity 😟 but I will keep in mind for this next time since it grows in the garden like a weed! Lol.
Also, I have heard some people washing it vs. Shaking it. What is the difference (why) between these 2 methods? Thank you so much for your help!
Can you tell us how long they keep in the jar?
A year is a good mark. I usually use it up before a year is up.
@@NickandJulie thanks!
Hi, new to the herb community. I planted some mint and it’s good to go but I don’t really know how to use it when it’s dry. I normally use it on tea. What benefits does dry mint have and how do I use them? Thank you.
You can crush it up lightly and put in some rolling paper or in a bong and smoke it with or without weed, smoking mint has its benefits bc it has no tobbaco or THC and it makes you relaxed
I just smoke that shit
How long does the dried mint keep in the mason jars?
If stored properly, technically a year but I've had it last longer :)
Flourish Ever After thank you for replying!!!
I dried my mint for little under two weeks. I noticed they started to turn brown. Both my chocolate and apple mint. Is that normal? There was very little to none humidity while drying
Amrit Baba yes its normal. Mint goes dark unless its blanched I believe. I like to powder mine and Im just looking for a way to maintain a green color.
what about the dust which you would have within these two weeks of drying the mint? it just bothers me :(, apart from this, its great video, and idea, thank you for sharing :).
Good thinking. I didn't have dust settlement on the leaves since this was in my closed pantry its a little bit more sheltered. An idea is to make a hole in a paper bag and stick the hanging string through it so the mint is sheltered inside the bag and then hang it if you don't have a sheltered area. Thank you for watching!
Dusty mint tea 😅. I cover mine with triple or more layers of cheese cloth. Works well. Or when drying small amount, paper towel does the trick. Make sure to tuck the edges well or use paper clips all around
I drank this very mint tea all winter. No dusty mint tea here! :) Thanks for the suggestions!
I've used mesh like net to avoid all that for years. Kinda feel icky if I don't. Lol.
you know it's dry when you can crush the leaves in between your fingers and it breaks easily. Like you would be able to powder it if you wanted.
Thanks for the tip!
Pls were can i get dis mint leaf to buy?
Why do you have to hang in a dark n dry place? I'm in Phoenix...110 heat...dry air. Will that ruin the mint?
Hopefully its not 110 inside your house so hanging to dry inside will be fine. When storing them try to avoid exposure to air, heat, and light as much as possible to extend the life of your mint. but dry air is good. The less moisture, the less likely it will mold.
Flourish Ever After thank you
How do you make your tea?
My favorite is one bag of chamomile tea (this year I am growing some of my own!!), about 5 mint leaves, some honey or sugar depending on your preference. Cover for 5 minutes to let it steep. And there you go! I especially appreciate this tea when I have a cold. I want to try adding some thyme or sage as well. I love the scent of thyme. Experiment and find your favorite combination :)
Flourish Ever After wow that's great. My mother used to grow her own chamomile. Other than tea where else would you use dry mint leaves? Thanks from Adelaide, South Australia
I heard you can dry it in a oven or microwave.
Me too! Haven’t tried it yet.
I find it funny how you all are talking about making this mint into tea but I'm out here smoking this with my bong
First name Last name is it good
Hi do u need to mix it wd tobacco? Cheers!
You can smoke it by itself, i recommend not drying it all the way though. About 70% dry is best. If you want, try mixing it with mugwort and mullein. You can find both online hella cheap, and mixing 40% mullein, 30% mugwort, and 30% mint will give you a great smoking blend with a similar texture to a drier tobacco or bud.
How do you use all of your mint? There’s o my so many mojitos I can drink!
😂 yes. I used to make lots of mint tea with a chamomile tea bag thrown in over winter. Now I don’t have that mint patch anymore as we are traveling in a truck camper full time.
What song is this?? PLS I love it
Can dry indoor ?
yes you can 🙂
