Dear, it's the fisrt time I watch your vids, but I feel really enjoy and comfort all the way you explain every single step of this tutorial, so please just keep going
thanks for sharing this trick! so awesome and you made it easier to create brush out of clouds. tutorial is a bit fast to follow in real-time but it's all good overall!
This is amazing! Everybody listen up. This is an amazing solution to the so-called layer mode problem. Image you wanna create a rasterized lighting effect to use OUTSIDE of photoshop, in for example a 2D game. Let's say, a starburst with a lens flare for some kind of magical effect. Now, in photoshop this is easy. You create your elements and you use the layer mode "screen" or "lighter" to make everything darker than white transparent, with black being completely invisible and all other values more and more opaque as you get closer to white. Nothing to it. But if you get into a compositing environment where you don't have these layer modes, you're in trouble. The lens flare filter doesn't work at all without a completely opaque color to apply it to, and your starburst will not retain the screen/lighter transparency properties, which means you're gonna get ugly dark outlines, which you will attempt to erase out by hand with varying craptastic results. Creating a brush out of your starburst and lensflare will totally solve your problem because a brush stamp can be applied to a transparent background! So, stamp out your starburst and your lensflare brushes on a transparent background, save as a PNG, and then import it into whatever layer mode-free environment you're using. (I'm working on a sprite based 2D game atm, where I need these kind of effects for magic spells etc. PHOTOSHOP TRAINING CHANNEL, you are a lifesaver!
Your tutorials are so amazing ! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and abilities. I really enjoy that you take the time to explain the reason for doing a thing instead of another. It makes everything very understandable. Thank you !!
If a car is driving in an off-roading area, like dust from sand kick up, is there a way to mimic more cloud from the dirt kick up like this? If so would it be possible for you to make a tutorial? please? Thank you Subbed
great tutorial! only one problem with my bruh tho. As soon as i set the opacity jitter up to basically any value & set "control" to "off" and then start painting, the opacity wont change itself D: I tried every mode in the control panel, but it doesn't work. Somebody might know a solution to this?
Just found this tutorial. I gotta say, its pretty dam good! But have no idea where the picture is in your website. There is no link to the picture and therefore I cant find any picture anywhere.
Awesome tutorial! When I go to adjust my brush preset settings mine doesn't bring the settings yours does up. It stays on the brush icon symbols. It doesn't bring up the adjustment
Looks like a great tutorial but I can't find the link on here to the cloud image. I realize this tutorial is 2 years old so maybe it was removed? Sorry if I'm missing it
Great easy to follow tutorial! I seem to be have a noob moment tho every time i try to make the brush i get dots not a cloud.. Not sure what im doing wrong i have tried with differnet pics and still get like a weird group of dots of just "noise"..
Once I got to 2:12, I encountered a problem. When i click "Ctrl" and try to click on the channel thumbnail, a circle with a line through it takes the place of the cursor and I can't click the thumbnail. PLEASE HELP!
Your tutorials are great and to the point which is how all good tutorials should be. If I can make just one suggestion. Because of different English accents, when stating a letter that needs to be pressed with the Command or Control key for a short cut, could you show the letter visibly on screen as press CMND or CNTRL 'e' or 'z' or 'b'. As you can see how some letters can sound the same. Thank you for your time and help.
I love you! LOL I am really liking the 'powder' images that I have been seeing around the sites. I have looked for good images of powder clouds, but, the good ones are pricey, and worth every bit of it!! But, I wanted to learn to make something like it, myself. Using this idea, then, placing some in front of your subject and some behind, you can get an effect that looks a bit like a cloud of 'powder', with the subject inside. Thank you so very much, as usual! Su
hello sir, do you have a tutorial on how to create a brush with light green and dark green, foreground and backgroung green?its for painting landscape grass in a photo.
nice tutorial, when you have created the brush and made adjustments to the settings of jitter etc do you have to re save the brush or are the changes saved automatically?
Jesùs -- How did you determine the size for the new document? Had you pre-chosen 275x290 Pixels, or did Ps automatically determine that size, given the size of your copied selection?
Holy Cow! Ps never fails to amaze me with its scary intelligence. Thank you for that wonderful tip, Jesùs. You have shown us such a smart, easy way to make new brushes.
Is there a reason why the angle of the brush reverts back to original angle? I turn the wheel thing and for awhile it is where I want it then it reverts to where it was.
Jesùs -- Why did you do the Image > Crop step after filling the cloud selection with black? I can't find any information about this Crop sub-menu in my Ps books. Does it just remove perfectly transparent pixels around the edge of the document? If so, why did those pixels end up transparent, when Ps pre-determined the size of the cloud selection?
You really don't have to crop, it would of worked with the selection alone. I used the crop because I wanted to see exactly how big my brush was going to be. Sometimes there are random stray pixels far off the selection and it makes a huge brush that doesn't work. This way, I know that there are no stray pixels and that my brush will be a reasonably size.
Aha! I think that I understand: The Image > Crop step removes stray pixels outside the image perimeter, right? Thank you so much for sharing your deep Ps knowledge with us, Jesùs -- I probably would never have found out what that command does without it!

John, I am not sure why that is. Do you have a screenshot you can share? Maybe I can spot the issue that way.
Your tutorials are great and to the point which is how all good tutorials should be. If I can make just one suggestion. I'll see what I can do. Thanks for letting me know!
i think you should turn on the caption button, that helps me a lot.
Hi, can the brush be colourised?
In the latest version of Photoshop you can add one color to the brush and save that color with it.
I love you! LOL I am really liking the 'powder' images that I have been seeing around the sites. Awsome! Share it with us if you like! #goodluck!
Gret..thank sir💥
nice tutorial, when you have created the brush and made adjustments to the settings of jitter etc do you have to re save the brush or are the changes saved automatically?
You have to save the brush. In the "Brush Presets" panel select "Save Brushes" from the flyout menu (The four line icon on the top right).
Jesùs -- How did you determine the size for the new document? Had you pre-chosen 275x290 Pixels, or did Ps automatically determine that size, given the size of your copied selection?
Yes! Ps automatically determined the size based on the copied selection.
Holy Cow! Ps never fails to amaze me with its scary intelligence. Thank you for that wonderful tip, Jesùs. You have shown us such a smart, easy way to make new brushes.
You're welcome! :)
I'm guessing that you can do the same thing with leaves and other things by just photographing them against a high contrast background. Correct?
Yes! with anything that you like really. It will take practice to make some things look good. But you can do it with anything.
Is there a reason why the angle of the brush reverts back to original angle? I turn the wheel thing and for awhile it is where I want it then it reverts to where it was.
I can't find the link for the picture used in this video
Now this was exciting! Haha! Well done sir!!! +1 subscriber
what to do at 2: 34 for windows.. in mac you are using alt+ backpace ..but what about windows user..?
Deepali Suryawanshi that is for windows. I'm using Windows.
this was great, thanks
You're welcome!

It doesn't remove them. If there are stray pixels the canvas will stay large and it will be obvious. Then you can delete them.
Looks awsome :)
Thanks!
Good work! Thank you!
You're welcome!
If I am using CC and create a brush will it be recognized from another computer at my Studio, both are setup with CC account
Only if you save it in a Library
Hey! I have one question or two. Can you save the brush, or is it auto saved? And two, can you export it for later use on other computers?
Thank you, Sir.
good
thank you
Lovely! Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome!
I can not add the black color on the new layer, I hold the "alt" but it does not work here. Can you help me please?
Hello,
I have a problem the brush tool is painting in black when I create it. Instead of white , what have I done wrong ?
JUST SWAP FOREGROUND COLOR BY USING X WHILE USING THE BRUSH .
Thank you
my cloud turned complete solid black when i did the "alt and backspace." how did yours turn out whispy like the cloud?
2:13 you have to press control and select the thumbnail before you hit alt backspace
Brilliant sir, simply brilliant. Thank you. Of course I have sub'd.
Thank you, MrLemonbaby!
