    I owned a Cessna 185 and flew it on floats through the 80's and 90's before RUclips days. Seeing these video's today makes me sorry I never flew it on wheels. They were in the garage !

    My dad had STCs for C-150, 152, and 172 tailwheel kit conversions, the "Texas Taildragger." At the time it was the best tailwheel conversion for those Cessnas, and could be switched in hours once initial conversion was done. We also had 150 & 180 hp engine conversions for the same Cessnas and long range tanks. A 152 with a tailwheel and 180 hp was a goin little bird!

    Actually a taildragger is a Standard landing gear . You can find that info in the POH .

    Second one must be for landing and taking off from ice. Very cool. Saw the Bush wheels on a Cessna at the EAA in the early 1990s. I thought that was the coolest plane there. (Besides the Concorde.)

    At 2:30 ... for landing in high bullshit conditions, so after the WTSHTF, this will come in very handy ...

    I bet the pilot near crapped himself on that landing you can see his snap reaction when tail slaps and almost drive nose into dirt...

      +Ben Jay When?

    • @baker2niner
      @baker2niner 7 лет назад +1

      No. "Conventional' pilots debate "wheel" vs "3 pt" landings and they're doing both here.It's kind of a hybrid. You get the benefits of greater induced drag (deceleration) and being able to jam brakes and see over the nose better. (But, since they're both going too fast and far here, there isn't any advantage shown here...)
      That black 185 has a big motor in it, too. I can't bring the tail up like that with the stocker.

      Ben Jay nothing wrong with that landing at all.
