We went for a day trip to Corregidor Island. Corregidor island was heavily fortified and used to protect Manila Bay during WWII.

thanks. My mother's father was U.S. Army and they lived on Corregidor. She went to elementary school there in about 1928-29. She used to tell us about living there, years before the war.

Went there in March of last year. Just mind-blowing how many people were packed into Malinta tunnel, by both sides.

When I first went to Corregidor Island during mid 80's someone told me that one of the long range cannon didn't fire when it was use during the world war 2

i went to corregidor island in 2016 it was interesting an and a very good tour
good to see its recovered. The whole place looked bankrupt in 2011 when i was there. The best thing going at the resturant was a frozen cheeseburger

We went there and we got stranded for 2 days because the typhoon in corregidor is huge wind and we stranded and the boat driver says that we can't go because the wind and the waters Tide is too strong like our boat is getting sunk so we bought us and others to the Hotel.
my boat driver bribed the coast guard and we got to sail.
Notice how the American artillery was not enclosed in fortifications. They were quickly neutralized by Japanese counter battery fire. Thanks for the tour.
Show more on the islands
If you have time, spend a few days and walk the ground. The bus tour only takes you to some of the batteries. There is much more to see. Go with a guide. Costs little and adds to safety. My guide killed a Philippine King Cobra that was a tad too aggressive when we visited the remnants of the USN intercept tunnel. There are also rock pythons. Be careful..

It's Korehidor not Koregidor.. The "G" is pronounced "H"...i think we pronounced it following the Spanish way, I'm not so sure but yeah we pronounced it Korehidor..

The big mistake of American engineers in world war 2 when building the battery gears was the luck of ANTI AIRCRAFTS To ERADICATING the incoming japanese aircraft attacking CORREGIDOR, that time , Americans and Philippines army missing this powerfull machine guns as SHIELDS IN THE VICINITY OF CORREGIDOR.
