He doesn't. He just messed his vocals up from years of improper screaming and has been afraid to ruin his voice. He recently said in an interview that he's been taking vocal lessons to learn how to scream properly just within the past year.

Because up until recently Danny wasn’t using the healthier technique for screaming so he was constantly blowing out his voice for years at a time.

Here's the proof that Danny is pretty much the most complete vocalist in the metal scene and he can even perform Breathless live without ruining his voice, he had help from Paul but it was just to emulate the voice overlaps from the studio version. He even ahs his breath control on key for the final verses with crazy change of pace and tone.
