The receiver uses a BF996 for the mixer circuit. I ran out of these devices and ordered 20 more. I accidently ordered SRA's. The pins are reversed. I had to flatten out each pin and turn the chip upside down to make it work. The radio is functioning and alignment is completed. I will publish a follow-up video soon.
Thanks Jerry. The radio is finished....expect....I dropped the very tiny BF996 mixer on the floor and it's no where to be found. I ordered 20 more from Germany and they are almost here.
The BF996's arrived two days ago.....well, kinda sorta. I expected 20 units in a "tape". The tape was completely void of any of these tiny devices. Contacted seller. He was a bit shocked and is sending them out again. I hope!
Good to hear your going forward with the Hallicrafters. I received the BF996's. I accidently ordered SRA's. The pins are reversed. I had to flatten out each pin and turn the chip upside down. The radio is working and I will do a follow-up video soon. 73's

When I did my first conversion I ordered 20 to start with, glad I did. I got a Hallicrafters HT-18 and S-54, I'm thinking of doing the conversion on.
