"The watch was made for Tiffany by Patek Philippe" -- that was the point where I just laughed out loud at how good this was.
My favorite appraiser. I love when he gets his hand on a good watch.
This man could put a hit on anyone at this show badda boom badda bing !
lol Nice one!
The gabbagooooool
Betty boop
I always thought that about this appraiser, but was afraid to say it. Is it the New York accent? I love his appraisals anyway.
Now run home and get your shine box!
"Another plus"- the DJ Khalid of Antiques Roadshow
Ben 🤦🏾♀️🤣🤣
Right 😂😂😂
That lady is right to keep it, Tiffany&Co and Pattek Phillipe, real pearls. Platinum this can only go up in value
@Florida Man. It's nice but I've seen much better. She didn't have to say it's not going, he didn't even ask her if she was going to sell it. She was kind of acting like it was the Hope diamond🙄
@@danacaro-herman3530 you have zero clue on watches.
Real value of this is 6 figures. Not the piss poor price he said.
@@OffGridInvestor well perhaps not, you're correct. The appraiser knows what he's doing though, he's a professional with alot of experience.
Crashing as of today… $1760 from $2900 high!
After 3 minutes of watching and it's Just $8,000?? C'mon RUclips algorithm, you can do better than that!
Spoliers!
@@sideshowmulhern Bruh, you're the one reading comments before watching the video..
If it was a wrist watch, yes.
Especially after reading the words " Patek Philippe " I expected over 100.000 from the best watchmaker in the world.
It's BS.... anything made by Patek Phillip in that era is minimum 6 figures. Often 7 figures.
In my movie Kevin Zavian definitively plays the character "Donnie Brasco the Jeweler" this guy has swagger without even trying.
true.
I love this gentleman's accent.
Thanks mob boss and accomplice! Your appraisal is certainly worthy two to five years!
"Eyyy badda bing badda boom I give you two fiddy and I'll cook up some sausage and peppers what d'ya say doll face"
Great show ,i always learn something new from this this show.
I love Kevin!
This dude has the best voice ever
''Betteridge had on offer an interesting mix of vintage and pre-owned timepieces. [...] Among them, a Tiffany & Co watch necklace with its movement from Patek Philippe from the 1920s priced at US$33,000'' A very similar one without pearls.
That didn’t go up value whatsoever... it’s the same value as it was it 1968, purchased for $1,250. Due to inflation, that would cost $9,124 in today’s dollars. It did not increase in value at all. It only remained it’s value since 1968.
I would wear it, it’s a beautiful elegant piece!
12.50
Anthony You’re not cool.
It is not that the actual watch has lost its value it is that society has lost its value. That piece should be near to $50000.
So maybe the first appraiser did a good job then
I just love the way that blue looks!!
Just calculating the 1968 appraisal and adjusting for inflation it should be worth $9,500 and this guy is saying the intrinsic value hasn't went up in 50 years? I think he's way off for a Patek Philippe / Tiffany's & Co watch in that condition as old as it is. I think at auction it would go for upwards of 15K but he's the expert
Tiffany & Co., Patek Philippe. You’ve struck GOLD if you own those brands! Now both of them combined in 1 product?? Forget about it! 💰💰💰💰
This guy makes the sausage & peppers at the St. Roccos feast!!
Daniel D'Angelo
He's Armenian.
I knew he looked familiar.
Love this show! :))
That is a beautiful watch.
Omg stunning! I want!
I grew up in Queens and I had an older cousin named Vinny Bruno and he always had 3 watches on each wrist and a couple down at his feet.
Hey Uncle Frank, lookee here at whut I got.
He sounded just like this guy here
$1250 in 1960 (the paper said 60 not 68) is about 11000 dollars today, so, it just retained its value.
It should be worth more than $10k.. antique natural pearls, diamonds, platinum, patek philippe watch, tiffany brand... 18k gold case, and he forgot to show the 1 cabochon sapphire at the bottom!!!
Not to mention the desirable size that the movement can potentially be recased as a men’s wristwatch...not that I would
Yes, he's just a third generation jewelry expert who has his own business and also works for a big New York auction house as an appraiser/consultant, but what does he know?
@@janepoultney5207 obviously not very much seeing as hes undervaluing stuff and clearly has no idea what oriental means, he just pulled that description out his arse
Jennie Wright well tbf according to Webster’s dictionary when talking about pearls it DOES actually mean a natural marine pearl...
Unique pieces like this are hard to appraise and are rarely the sum of the appraisal of the elements they are made of... this is why you will always see them sell at wildly different prices at auction than appraisal, and value will come from the history of the piece rather than what it is made of... Whats more, they will wildly vary from one auction to another depending on who is bidding at the time .. that being said, i think he was generous in his appraisal of this one, because it has no particular historical significance (i.e. owned by someone important, or was made for special edition or occasion, or was one of a kind, etc). Also if you estimate the amount of gold, platinum in it, its not much, so that shouldn't factor in big, its not particularly a heavy piece...so now we come to the diamonds and pearls...this will depend on the size and quality...and no one here can tell by just looking at the video...and finally, a pre-owned Patek can be had for as low as $2500, so that also shouldn't bump up the price unless it has an iconic movement or something... overall there isn't one thing standing out of extremely high value, but overall a good quality jewellery that's antique and is probably worth 8-10 grands
I googled 1200 dollars in 1960 adjusted for inflation and it gave me 8,737.30 cents so it’s not really worth any more than when it was originally purchased
Try buying anything made by Patek Philippe today at 1960's prices or even a Tiffany anything!
Good luck.
The appraiser low balled that watch! Maybe six figures today!
This appraiser’s accent... “Vito, if he don’t pay, break ‘is thumbs.”
This guy should have been in Good Fellas
He was! It’s Billy Batts.
@@mikethebeginner lol I don’t think so
One of most important appraisals, on A.R. show.
Feels like a necklace with natural pearls from Tiffany and watch by PP should be worth way more.
It certainly is now. This was eight years ago.
Demand plays heavily into the value, and jewelry is tied to the fashion industry. This watch is beautiful, but it’s old fashioned and that’s going to limit the market. It is what it is.
"Another plus! When you flip it over, it's upside down!".
I'd love to hear this guy shout "Getdafuckouttahere!"
Id love to get an update on the 2019 value of this item.
chefaaron77
$13.5k
that dude is wrong I think
Hey Tone that's a nice watch ova Eeere
Appraiser looks like he would be right at home instructing a gaggle of henchmen to bring him Batman's head.
Didn't know Robert de niro does appraisals
More of a Dennis Ferina
Good, don't let it go.
When you think about it it almost looks like it lost some value 1250 dollars in 60's is worth more than 10k in today's money
or that it was accurately assessed initially :) thou, truth to be told, it's is very difficult to say how much money that would be today. i wouldn't say it lost value, more like it kept value well -the nature of the things is that in general (almost) everything looses value (heck, it's old!). I like when people say how much they paid initially (if they paid) and how much was that back then-in real money. (there was an example of soldier saying his rolex cost him about 20% more than his monthly wage in 1960s, which roughly give-or-take is what you would pay for rolex now.
In ~1960 a new Rolex Submariner or GMT Master would run you around ~$100USD, today that amount is equal to ~$870USD. (I think a Submariner would have been 5 - 10 bucks cheaper, so my estimate is the mean between the two)
A new Submariner or GMT Master in SS today would be ~$10,000 USD (GMT Master is more expensive than Subby).
1250 dollars from the 60's is still worth 1250 dollars today.
Zoltrix, do you not know what inflation is?
Yes, it means that 1,250 dollars in the sixties had the equivalent buying power of 10,000 dollars today.
Yet you still have only 1,250 dollars.
Badda bing badda boo, an apprisal you can't refuse
Tiffany + Patek + Antique + Real Pearls + Platinum and only 10K? No Way!
I agree.
He said in an auction environment. If the people that would pay $30k for it don't attend the auction, the market value is just that since even those brands combined to make that particular piece is appealing only to a much smaller market
It's not going, going, gone! Sold 😁
Nice....
Barney Miller joined Antiques Roadshow?
I like his accent.
For those wondering why the watch isn’t worth more. Yes, it’s a Patek Philipe, but the problem is that it’s a women’s-sized watch and it’s a pendant watch. Men’s watches, especially wristwatches, are much more valuable.
This guy sounds exactly like Robert De Niro
Didn't know cousin Avi still hustlin !
It should be worth way more one would think, if they have seen what Tiffinay & Company and patek phillipe goes for and even natural pearls, but not just that the age of the piece abut 60 years old and the almost brand new condition.
That's a 100K item now 👍👊👊👊
The enamel is Tiffany blue 😍
Patek rules.
its not going, we heard that before we heard that before and right when they walk out the door there already selling
It actually could fetch for $45,000-$50,000. It’s a Patek. Believe me 💯
@Brian Novak. I don't think so.
That's horrible! The inflation rate calculated in would have put it at 10 grand. So 8 to 10 grand at auction today means her family made a poor investment.
Douglas Thompson if it's valuable to the owner that's all that mattered
I'm sure they weren't purchasing it as an investment.
I have noticed that a lot of the Tiffany appraisals have been low.
Its not a poor investment though. If they kept that $1,000 and did nothing with it, then they would only have $1,000. Its better they bought this than to have just put the money under a mattress.
Good appraiser for auction house.
Clock is upside down. Of course!
A Patek Philippe for Tiffany. Real pearls. Platinum. Old as balls. Great condition. I can't see how this is not a least 50.000$
Any watch collector would love to have this.
Just can’t believe it’s only worth that much. I really thought it would be 40-50k
This guy looks like the Russian club owner from bad boys 2
"I'm gonna make you an offer you can't refuse..."
😍
I am amazed how many comments are suggesting this piece is worth more... for it to be worth more it has to either have some history, or was the only one made of its kind, or has some big high quality diamonds... but being vintage or antique by itself will not warrant significant value without it being rare or had been owned or made for someone important... looking at this piece...its light weight so the gold and platinum in it won't probably exceed 1-2 grands...the pre-owned patek can be as low as 2 grands unless it was one of their top movements...and the diamonds + pearls here don't seem to be of rarity or size that warrant more than 2-3 grands...so my guess is, his appraisal is fair if not generous...but then all of that doesn't matter because at auction if two people with deep pockets want it bad enough, through that appraisal out of the window
Seems to me the pearls alone would be under valued at 8000.00?
for real pearls?
Интересная вешица)
Bruh...this is worth more than 8k what is he on about
Today that specific watch may appraise at six figures. IMHO I firmly believe the appraiser was low
Bada bing bada boom
For 20 fckn years he compromised and let that watch be unchained. No more.
The appraisal seems cheap, considering the time piece is Patek Philippe.
(the Queen of England wears Patek Philippe watches)
Well, when you mention Patek Philippe on an antique, it would've been nice to show the movement. This piece should be worth $20K.
Close your eyes and Robert De Niro enters the room.
Or Steve Martin
I found a watch while cleaning a sewer. It was worn by Napoleon Bonerpart its worth 100 billion dollars!
I thought he was going to make her an offer she couldnt refuse
$1,250 in 1968 = $9,934.95 in 2021 according to the inflation calculator. So the estimate has basically stayed the same since 1968.
8k, 10k? That's a bargain!
💓💓👍🏿👍🏿👀👀 5/10/22
"Yea boss, we took care dat problem. Hes wont be testifying at any trials no more. Now, I gotta go. I gotta ladies watch to appraise."
This guy sounds just like Robert Dinero
Sounds like Robert deniro
$10k seems less than the $1250 it was appraised for in 1968.
be worth way more today thats probs a 2012 -2013 price very low ball
Don the jeweler
Smart lady, its not going.
8 years ago...now it would be at least $25,000.
This has got to be worth a lot more that 10k...
Cant believe its worth so little and neither could she lol .p.s how does soldering become soddering in Americn ,always found that a bit odd .
lol $1250 would hav purchased a decent house in prime location, back then time? proved its been a waste of money IMAGINE ? the price of the house now?
no way in 1968 you can purchse a house for $1250
She wanted more
The appraiser sounds like Robert De Niro
The price is underestimated. It is not possible to buy a pattek philippe for $8k.
Also, $1250 at the time when gold was at $35/oz is now (2018) worth $46k. That $46k is the real value of the watch.
a pre-owned Patek can be had at $8k or less.
@Obama Oh Yeah Yeah although besides the point but I actually have, quite a few.. that being said, i don't see how my factual comment, which you can look up yourself, led you to be an expert on my lifestyle ... so you really don't believe that certain patek models go for 8k or less pre-owned?
@Obama Oh Yeah Yeah you can get a great condition calatrava at almost any reputable classic/vintage watch dealer for 6 and 7k ... and it is a timeless dress watch and a very sought after model... DavidSW has at the moment an unworn patek twenty-4 with the works "box/papers/warranty" for 10.5k ..crown&caliber have several for 8k or under.. i am just puzzled, given the research you have done, that you think 8k can only get you a broken in pieces patek, when almost every reputable dealer has few listed in excellent condition at the price range i mentioned give or take...
Tiffany and patek in 1 item and he estimated that much? You can do better.
Pearls that tiny....should never be worn against the skin....the heat ...and sweat of the skin will break down the pearls
She’s a princess, she should know
What a joke … this is minimum at least $50k…..
I’ve always opined that this is an incorrect, lowball appraisal for this pendant watch!
* Platinum
* 18K gold case
* Natural pearls
* Diamonds
* Cabochon sapphire
* Tiffany & Co.
* Patek Philippe
It doesn’t make sense!
Seed pearls have very little value
That is very little platinum so not too much value there
Tiffany & Co and Patek Philippe add value but it isn’t very collectible which driveS the price down
Overall a conservative but fair appraisal
-Jeweler who works primarily in restoration and recreation of vintage pieces
Jonathan Settles
Your entitled to your incorrect and negative opinion.
Have a wonderful day!!!
Wh would wear this today ?????? Worth what it’s made of basically.
Tryna piggyback off the veteran's Rolex video RUclips? I see you
in 1968 $1250 was worth $12,000 so its lost money
look i know these guys are experts. but there is no way this is worth that little?! A Patek Phillipe is worth more new nowadays
