I looked how Kane was booked in the attitude era from 97 - 01, a legit powerful big-man monster, who could get better and better he was just getting started, have a title run here and there, now 2001 he was at his peak to give him a couple of title reigns in the future, not long ones, 2 months here, 3 months there, a transitional champion but a threat, he was a believable monster to hold that title for a 2 to 3 month period. Kane had atleast I say 2 WWF title runs in him, and 3 world heavyweight title runs. But always kept has a legit monster who could do damage But the burial of Kane when he returned in august 2002 was defiantly the end of Kane has a legit monster character. After the hard work building him up during the attitude era, it still pisses me off to this day what they did to him August 2002, to march 2004. They stripped away the monster, they stripped his essence of his iconic mask, and the losing numbers stacked up, from a monster to a buried monster I asked the question, did glen jacobs piss someone off backstage for this ultimate burial of Kane? because his booking in this 2 year period of august 2002, to match 2004 was odd to say the least, compared to the attitude era, it is night and day. One of your main guys that saved the company of the horrid invasion angle, gets buried in so many ways. What was GOD doing? too busy recovering from his injury, Kane deserved better than this, Kane was one of the main casualty's of the evolution burial of the roster, with GOD leading the destruction, and it was pretty sad what they did to Kane It starts off - august 2002, he's turned into a comic act properly when he returns, becomes the hottest thing on RAW, wins the IC and tag titles, and GOD like Jeff puts ruins Kane, which does piss me off. They tag his backstory with this katie vick storyline, he loses the world title match to GOD, they feed him to batista all of this during his return in 2002, and we have not even entered 2003. Kane is thrown into a tag match with RVD. we enter 2003, and it gets worse for Kane. June 2003 arrives, Kane unmasks, he shaves his head, and thrown in pointless feud's with RVD and Shane, making losing the mask pointless because it was not improving his status, only slowly making it worse. Kane loses another world title match in Armageddon 2003 to GOD again. Enter 2004, his embarrassing elimination at the royal rumble, and the final nail in Kane's coffin during his 2 year burial, between august 2002, to march 2004, Kane was thrown to the wolves, with his 8 minute burial of the undertaker. That was a pretty sad 2 year period for Kane, after his great performances and build up during the attitude era, they truly did bury him in so many different ways in the ruthless aggression era. The era of the wrath of GOD ultimately destroyed this great character who played a big part in the Monday night wars, very rare to see any monster wear a mask and feel like he is Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers and predator rolled into one in a 4 squre circle ring And to finish it off with a rant and my two cents on Kane's 02/04 burial, GOD and the undertaker almost did the job perfect over Kane. GOD started the job off, the undertaker finished it
Goldberg should of won here, beat Triple H at Unforgiven, beat Kane and or Goldberg at Survivor Series and lost the belt to HBK at Armageddon or Royal Rumble and have him carry the belt into Mania with the Triple Threat between HBK, HHH and Benoit.
SummerSlam 2003 was really disappointing even i liked Eddie stole one.. Lesnar & Angle was very good, but the Elimination Chamber Match.. OOOHHH GOD!!! I can not put in Words how i feel thinking back about that Match and the End of the Show! Steiner, Booker and Goldberg, Triple H had his own Invasion Angle in 2003!!
IMHO this was the absolute Worse Elimination Chamber match of all time, even the December to dismember 06 ECW chamber wasn't this bad. the match quality of this one was awful, minus ONE great spot wth Goldberg spearing Y2J threw pod, and the booking was shitty ass way to end a Big 4 show.
I remember ordering this show and being like what triple H won and then they had Goldberg beat triple h at the next ppv Unforgiven which I was like wow
Shane McMahon has a hit and miss match record. The Bishoff match was Shane chasing his opponent. The X-Pac match had Shane be the one running. The only really good matches I think Shane ever had was against Kane and Randy Orton.
dflowers30 Well IMO the WM 19 match while good wasn't great or an 5 stars classic like most fans make it out to be, the communication between Angle/Brock was off at times and the match pacing was somewhat slow and dull at times, sure it was mostly sound but Great matches don't have dull, slow pacing at times and major botches. SS 03 had the better story behind It and was better match IMO, but we can agree to disagree. I Do agree with you however that the Ironman match was their best match all together.
Winter Man Their WM 19 match just felt weird to me. It wasn't bad......but it wasn't anywhere near the level of great fans say it is. And to top it off its only remembered for the botch that almost killed Lesnar. Everything else is completely irrelevant about the match outside of that botch. Their SummerSlam match had the better feel, & Lesnar probably wasn't as nervous (and quite frankly Lesnar playing the heel was the much better role for him).
dflowers30 Yes I'm aware of that but even Angle himself in shoot interviews acknowledged that heading into the match Brock was really nervous and was trying to cut stuff out of the match, thus why it felt like the communication at times wasn't all their between the two at times, still a very good match though and Angle deserves credit for wrestling with that fucked up neck and Brock deserves major credit for finishing the match after half killing himself.
wwetnaful Your last point is why the SummerSlam and the Smackdown Iron Matches were better. This fued worked better with Brock playing the monster heel character, and Angle playing the smart calculating face. When it was the other way around you had Brock playing the superman face and Angle playing the chicken shit heel and I didn't like either in those roles. Brock has always been a better heel.
Summerslam 2003: The Summerslam where Triple H buried Goldberg. That's all I remember it for.
how did he buried him if Goldberg won the belt a month after it and beat HHH twice in a row?
THEAW3SOM3BOSS3 Clearly you have no clue what being buried is.
Triple H=The originator of the Golden Shovel.
2 things I hated about the Chamber match. Goldberg didn't win and Goldberg and Nash didn't face off.
If only ryback was at this ppv it would be a hall of famer
RYBACK IS A LEGEND!
Lol I totally forgot this chamber match even existed
2003 wasn't a bad year in WWE. But compared to 2002, it was a disappointment.
SummerSlam 2003 was really disappointing even i liked Eddie stole one.. Lesnar & Angle was very good, but the Elimination Chamber Match.. OOOHHH GOD!!! I thought a McMahon getting help from Austin to beat Bischoff was metaphor. ;)
Never thought of it that way.
Goldberg didn't win here because WWE wanted him to beat Triple H One On One, not in a multiple man match.
Yeah but was it necessary to tie Goldberg and beat him up repeatedly with the hammer this guy was a destroyer in WCW and they killed him in WWE.
that i agree with i could see that as a possibility even Though it would've made sense for his undefeated streak at the time.
He was never the most over guy ever. Half the time they were canned in the Goldberg chants.
After this Nash left lol, his 2003 run was for 1 push for a World title feud with Triple H and then become buried smh...
This ppv review would've been different if Goldberg had won...
I remember ordering this show and being like what triple H won and then they had Goldberg beat triple h at the next ppv Unforgiven which I was like wow
You never had a Headline in brackets for this video, the Headline should of read (Sable on the DVD Cover?? WTF??)
Thanks for warning me after buying this ppv on DVD
Yah Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar didn't main event because of you should already know....Triple H(GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!).
Was this the Angle/Lesnar match where Lesnar epically botched a shooting star press?
Shane McMahon has a hit and miss match record. The Bishoff match was Shane chasing his opponent. The X-Pac match had Shane be the one running. The only really good matches I think Shane ever had was against Kane and Randy Orton.
Angle?
wwesvrfan215 I'll have to get back to you on that because I'm basing the matches on how much clean offence both men had in those matches.
rebal180 Don't forget Steve Blackmon that was a good match.
Anthony Anderson Well that depends on if he actually stood and fought or if he ran around the ring most of time.
SummerSlam '03 didn't need an elimination chamber match
I wonder if people were going to say Goldberg was buried if the match was won by anyone other than Triple H
Yes
Billy Barnett
Huh. Interesting.
*****
Huh. Even more interesting.
Eric Bishoff is a black belt in judo for the record.
TBH I did like this show just not the time of matches and who won ewpecially the EC match but I did like it it was a 6.5 maybe 7/10 Imo.
Shane mcmahon was whoopin everyones ass back in the day lol
Lesnar/Angle SS 03 was outstanding match, definitely better than their WM 19 bout that gets overrated by the IWC and fans in general IMO.
dflowers30 Well IMO the WM 19 match while good wasn't great or an 5 stars classic like most fans make it out to be, the communication between Angle/Brock was off at times and the match pacing was somewhat slow and dull at times, sure it was mostly sound but Great matches don't have dull, slow pacing at times and major botches.

Goldberg is way overrated and thinks too highly of himself for what reason I've no idea whatsoever
I was able to come up on a dvd of this Ppv still in good condition... tbh I only bought it because of the theme song to this ppv
I actually thought that ppv was pretty good
Triple H Wins lol Goldberg!!! Goldberg!!! Goldberg!!!!
good review
i thought this show was solid
This show is just okay could have been better
too much shit creamed in..
