Jeff Lynne, a real musical genius, a singer/ songwriter, producer. I’ve been a fan since the 70’s. I can’t wait to see them on July 10,2025 in Manchester.
A New World Record doesn't have a bad song on it.
My favorite ELO album!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amen to that!
Absolutely true, one of the best albums of all time!
@@stephenbailey8792 Out Of The Blue is great - but New World Record is better (top notch all the way thru).
An obvious deduction from the fact that no ELO album has a bad song on it. :-)
ELO is so good. No one creates a haunting melody better than Jeff Lynne!
@@vandalayindustries3057 yes indeed, and he produced them both.
one you cannot help but love...DIARY OF HORACE WIMP--ELO...i repeat, DIARY OF HORACE WIMP--ELO...you can do it....woo-hoo
You can't lose with Jeff Lynne and ELO 👍😊
Jeff Lynne and ELO are awesome. 👍
Jeff, es realmente un maestro de la composición musical!!!!! Un genio en nuestros días, entre nosotros........ Gracias Jeff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ELO are so great they always put a smile on my face and made so many great songs, Jeff Lynne who wrote all the songs just a master of what he does.
The little extra music at the end is the intro before the song "Evil Woman" starts on the album "Face The Music"
It is so rewarding seeing so many young people from 'across the pond' enjoying the music that influenced so much of my growing up period.
The common phrase that always comes up regarding so many of these bands (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, ELO, etc) is that it is totally consuming - you don't just listen, you 'experience' their music.
One young man actually said about Pink Floyd - 'I admit that I always think about what I'm going to say at the end whilst listening to any new song. With Pink Floyd, I can't concentrate on anything apart from the music'.
Such a telling statement...!
That last bit was actually the start of Evil Woman.
This record, and this song in particular, literally changed my life.
Saw them in Houston back in 77. That's 1977. The show began with them coming out of a Spaceship all dressed in White Tuxedo and alot of fog.
@Wilburn Reactions You have to hear (ELO - Living Thing - Sweet talking Woman) 2 of my Favorites!
You said you really liked Electric Light Orchestra. This was the music of my twenties. Jeff Lynne is responsible for every note. Every song. Every lead guitar break. Every lead vocal. You can't help but think production ramped-up just bit. Please try: No Way Out, or turn to stone. Think production and nuance
I listen to them every day. Some days are all ELO days. Been a fan since the early 70’s.
The "credits" was actually the interlude before Evil Woman from Face the Music.
Careful - don't fall down the ELO rabbit hole!
This song back to back with Telephone Line is what made me fall for ELO back in '76! Jeff Lynne has never disappointed me since 😁 💕
And I thought I was old!😋
@@munizdaniel7 👍
He´s a genius.
The section that you heard at the end of "Tightrope" was the open segment of "Evil Woman".
My first ELO album....Masterpiece!
When Dhanni Harrison inducted ELO into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame... he said of 'Tightrope'... ''You're allowed to start a record like that!'' - Great choice... try out 'Twilight' from the ELO album 'Time'
This was the opener to A New World Record. The last song, Shangrila is a perfect, haunting closer. You’ll have it stuck in your mind for days.
Last Train to London, Do Ya, Summer and Lightning, Big Wheel, and Jungle are just some of the many other ELO songs to check out.
I just _have_ to cheer whenever somebody mentions _Jungle_ !!
Just check out every single track on every single ELO album, far easier that way lol
Ok Chod. First thing. Thank you for getting back to ELO. Now. You want the full feel of the orchestra? Fire on High. You want just beautiful serenity? One Summers Dream. Enjoy!!
One Summer Dream...gets my vote
add Summer and Lightning :)
1 Of my favorite bands and favorite songs by then.. Jeff lynn is also 1 Of my favorite voices in rock.. Super talented.. And their live performances recently are incredible..🤗🎶🎙🎸🎹🎻🥁🎶
A masterpiece.
"This is beyond music....it's amazing!". I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. Chod, you're the best!
A great song from one of the greatest groups in the world
Your reaction was the same as mine.....waiting....what the heck is this? Where is it going?? And then holy cow! IT IS SO MUCH FUN!!! I am so glad you discovered the song. Yes, so cool and so fun.
Thank you for doing this song. This is literally my favorite song. I've listened to it thousands of times and I'll listen to thousands of times more. Please keep going down that ELO rabbit hole.
Stunning ❤ thank you
Go back to early ELO - I highly recommend "Showdown" from "On the Third Day"
That end was the lead-in to Evil Woman. The album has a ton of the songs lead directly into the others.
It never grows old.
This is originally from 'A New World Record', and the closing track, 'Shangri-La', is amazing and will definitely create a movie in your head!
the genius of jeff lynne is staggering...love these elo reactions Chod...keep up the great stuff..Kent in Ohio
This song has the epic intro, now on to "Shangri-la" for the epic outro!
Jeff Lynne! ELO! Melody! Harmonies! Pristine Production! Oh, and the most amazing for me STRINGS! STRINGS! STRINGS! STRINGS! ❤️
TOP song!! Second best ELO song ever (after Big Wheels).
What a great rabbit hole to go down! Showdown, Fire on High, Evil Woman, Rockaria, All Over The World, and of course, Telephone Line. You really can't go wrong with Jeff Lynne and ELO!
ELO is celebrating 50 years in 2021. Jeff Lynne is ELO and is a living legend and still sounds amazing at 72 yrs old. Try the song Shangri-la listening for the Beatles reference in the song.
Judy Baby!
"Do Ya" was a major hit from ELO with an epic chorus. I recommend that one
Jeff Lynne is a genius.
I've seen them twice in Philly in the last 3 years - the quality was at the level of the original recordings....unparalleled for a live show. Been to dozens of concerts (I'm in my 50s) arena, club, stadium...rock, pop, soul, etc. - hands down, best ever.
Thank you for reacting to "Tightrope" , my favorite ELO tune since 1977 or so.. another overlooked gem is "10538 Overture", the Live version is great, which was the B-side of the 45 Single of "Evil Woman".. Or you can also find "10538 Overture" on the American Hustle soundtrack..
Jungle is great. I'll take this over Yes anytime. Haven't listened to them for about 30 yrs. They were so unique I'm gonna have to listen to them more iften again.💖
Funny, I have been listening to them constantly for 40 years... :-)
And another CHEER for mentioning _Jungle_ - maybe we'll see a reaction to it one day.
I adore Jeff Lynne's Tarzan yell in Jungle. Puts me on the floor every time.
So Fine, Do Ya, All Over The World. Chod you could react to ELO for a month strait and just scratch the surface.
"The change from night to day is all we really have." so good.
@T. H. Robbs ... yes!
personally, i've always thought the beginning lyrics were funny, if poignant.... "they say some days you're gonna win... they say some days you're gonna lose... well, let me tell ya, i've got news for you... you're losing all the time, you never win, no.... " very cool.. jeff lynne had some incredible moments, musically and lyrically...
@T. H. Robbs Yes, those are the correct words! ("only hours")
Try ELO Ma-Ma belle another great song i'am sure that you will like it.
ROLL OVER BETHOVAN🎵🎶
ELO will continue to amaze you even if you’ve already heard most hits. There is so much more. I suggest the song Confusion.
The band's frontman Jeff Lynne regarded his own songwriting at this point to have reached a new high.
"The songs started to flow and most of them came quickly to me. To have all those hits, it was just ...I mean amazing really. Going from doing okay for probably three or four years to suddenly being in the big time, it was a strange but great thing." - Jeff Lynne
More ELO! 😁👍🎸🎻🎵
Can’t get it out of my head is a great older track as well.
I love everything about ELO 🎵🎵🎵💖
I remember driving around listening to this original album on 8-track cassette in my car when it came out. I wish you would check out the earlier, less studio-orchestra-drenched ELO with a rawer sound. The opening "Ocean Breakup" song suite from their album "On The Third Day" is totally kickass and still my favorite thing they ever did.
On the Third Day..... Superb
Oh yessss! Great shout! On the Third Day Ocean Breakup +1
ELO-Sweet is the Night, Midnight Blue, Big Wheel, Need Her Love, Confusion
Growing up in the '70s ELO was one of my favorite bands along with Kansas.. Jeff Lynn is one of my favorite voices in rock music.. and he created tons of great songs.. this song is definitely up there on my list I played the hell out of the song back in the '70s.. but if you like this song then check out ELO's full catalog because there's a lot there..
ELO "Bluebird is Dead"
My all time favorite band since junior high school. My favorite ELO song changes pretty much every day, but I always come back to Tightrope. Amazing! Just more of the magic of Jeff Lynne.
Superb Chod. Yes, Jeff Lynne and ELO are phenomenal. So, so many masterpieces beyond the more well known tunes.
DO YA is an ELO must
Just the best!
Better than Yes👍🤘
You would love to react to Can’t Get It Out of My Head and Rollover Beethoven!
My favorite rendition of Roll Over Beethoven
Another great reaction to the masters! PLEASE do their Shangri-La!
You gotta do Fire On High and Show down
"Can't Get It Out of My Head" is another epic ELO piece. If you want to make it extra epic, start with "Eldorado Overture" first and let it lead into "Can't Get It Out of My Head", like on their Eldorado album.
Thanks for the reaction, Chod, you can never go too far wrong with ELO! Before you finish listening to and reacting to their songs please make sure to put "Roll Over Beethoven" on your list as theirs is the greatest cover of that song I have ever heard!! Jeff Lynne is rock royalty!
Anything by E L O Chod, you can't go wrong.
A NEW WORLD RECORD! What an Album! The little interlude at the end is the intro to Evil Woman from FACE THE MUSIC.
...I don't know why that video slid into the beginning of "Evil Woman"; it's not even on the same original album! "Tightrope" proper ends after the piano winds down.
nvr heard that little epilogue b4!. got v album a new world record, bout 5 singles wre lifted of it n charted. 1 of my fav elo albums, kinda at v point in ver career that vey wnt frm orchestra dominated songs 2 pop/rock /disco songs ones. nice 2 hear vis little gem frm elo again, my albums r in storage sigh. vers a live version on utbe frm v 70s n also a recent one elo wit a new lineup. yeah ur rite ver fine musos n jeff so creative musically n lyrically n produces elo n makes it all wrk well, vers a lot going on in most elo songs, kinda multilayered music. chellos usualy have a big part in an elo song. i like v chello, n mik outstanding fiddleiing. ( he used 2 play in v moscow symphany orchestra. cheers frm way dwn sth.
listen to wild west hero and shangri-la, It's over and concerto for a rainy day, also twilight all amazing songs
Their album Face the Music is a sonic trip.
I thoroughly recommend it,same for A New World Record, and of course,Out of the Blue.
Face the music is so underrated, peeling off that plastic covering and lining the first song up, fire on high I was hooked in ‘75, aged 8 blew my mind
Good song, great album!👍🏻👍🏻
You need to React to Shangri-La. You have just heard the best intro ever. Shangri-la has the best outro ever
Oh yes 👍😊
You took the words right out of my mouth! Couldn't agree more!
The last notes are the start of another song from ELO: I think it's Waterfall ?! Try Kuiama, it's my favorite from ELO.
Kuiama is wonderful 👍😊
Probably my favorite E-low song.
Jeff Lynne's ELO musically is the best Band ever!
One of my favs..so hard to pick with them tho..
Try Leon Russel's Tight rope
Fire On High is a must. More prog. Less pop.
You've gotta do "Fire On High: instrumental by ELO!
Would you believe this track is not on any Best of ELO compilation albums other than box sets?
I would like to recommend a disco song by ELO: Last Train to London. The groove is just amazingly satisfying.
Listen to the Eldorado album.🙂👍
You gotta check out shine a little love. I guarantee you won't be able to stop moving
Thank you! I keep requesting that one and have felt like I'm the only one ever asking for it. Which I don't get because I think that song is terrific.
@@breckrichardson390 it's in energizer battery in the form of a song.
Real Music not prefabbed auto tuned shit like now👍👍🤘🤘🇦🇺
Since you're venturing away from the usual E L O songs, might as well react to Waterfall.
HYDE PARK with the LONDON PHIL STRINGS!!....Go live!! There are about 6 songs that kill!!
One word: production
They have so many great song...Jeff Lynne...Music Genius ....Try.... Mama Belle..&..Showdown
"Ma-Ma-Ma Belle" is a song recorded by the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ma-Ma-Ma_Belle
Supertramp - “Child of Vision”
Absolutely.. another favorite. Especially the Live in Paris video version..
I can't believe that I totally forgot about this song.
Hi Chod, you need to check out metal/opera with Avantasia. Try out the song "Raven Child', "Let The Storm Descend Upon You", "The Scarecrow", "Ghostlights", "Ghost in the Moon". There is just so much good stuff there. Another band that does this really well is Ayreon. Both of these are projects that feature multiple singers in long songs. Check out "The Day That The World Broke Down" to hear a lot of great power metal, progressive metal singers in one epic track!
Its Eee L O .
You seem to be setting Yes on a bit of a pedestal, they are certainly a great band, but there were other, equally great bands that you are not listening to, several started before Yes, but they were all around during the early/mid 70's. To experience most Prog Rock properly, you MUST listen to the entire album, in preferably 1 session, though a side at a time is fine in some cases. As long as you listen to them together, the songs can but cut into separate reactions, in some cases (many cases have NO break between the songs, or the theme carries on seamlessly). The albums are built to lead the listener through a storyline or musical theme or mood.
Not all prog will suit you, they are all trying to be different, and even within a single group, the musical style will be different on each album, even if similar. You have it so much better than we did. If we were lucky we lived in an area that played full albums, that was your only option unless you (or a friend) owned the album. You couldn't afford to buy everything.
Boston
"Don't Look Back"
You'll be hooked on them. ;)
I love everything Jeff Lynn but lean toward the off hit songs. Wild West Hero and Four Little Diamonds are a couple of my ELO faves.
it's "Lynne".
"Wild West Hero" is epic! Of course, truly epic is the whole side three "Concerto for a Rainy Day"!
Do yourself a HUGE favor. Listen to the album ELDORADO. Simply the best.
