Definitely if you grow brassicas a wasp nearby is better than any other pest control for cabbage white caterpillars, the wasps will just pick them off for you! I have been stung a fair few times though so it's a love/hate relationship!
Nice vid Dom. The black BMW bike you pointed out is a 1954 500cc Rennsport which belongs to the legendary Sammy Miller. The weekend before Goodwood I was privileged with others to have a guided tour of Sammy’s workshop, by the great man himself, at his motorcycle museum in the New Forest. He stated he was going to race it up the hill at Goodwood…at the age of 87!
I visited the museum on Friday and saw you at work! It was a fabulous experience and I have to admit I was really star struck seeing you! I also saw Steve, it was such a lovely day out
Hi Dom look froward always to your channel. You and the group of people who give their time so freely in the Repair Shop have changed the lives of many people. Memories are what connects us to the past and that which we hold onto pasted in the conners of our thoughts.
Ah, wasp's nests ! We had one built within a couple of days in the exit vent and duct from our shower extractor fan. It filled and blocked the flexible tube, bursting it in places! Fascinating structure though. Got a fan that's MUCH more powerful this time ! Glad to see the raffle is going so well.
Gotta love Dom and his enthusiasm and genuine niceness, top bloke, glad I subscribed …the repair shop is amazing too…proves that in these trying times there are still nice people out there….keep up the good work pal 👍👍😃
You had no probs getting into Goodwood. A guy of your stature, you’re famous! Best way to remove a wasp nest is cover it with a poly bag then cut thru the stem and then tie up the bag for disposal. Easy Peasy. Great video Dom 👍👍⚓️
Morning Dom, Wont talk about wasps cant stand them but the car displays were fantastic . The older formula cars take you back i should think that was an amazing day. Have a great week.
Sent a video application into Repair Shop this week for a 70 year old TV :) Loving your channel :) So pleased about the fund-raising too :) Fantastic news!!

Well done with the Vespa total so far. Unbelievable. Enjoy your week at the repair shop. This is my first week of retirement so I’m pottering about trying to set up a few retirement projects.
Wasp nest extraction was scaring me. Yikes! Great vlog. Congratulations on achieving your goal for your Alzheimer's fundraising. Great job. Means a lot to me. I hope people with continue to donate. Thank you.
Great to see you enjoy your time at the Festival Of Speed at Goodwood, if you want vintage the Goodwood Revival at the motor circuit is a must in September, not only static but plenty of action on the track and so much to see too
Looks like you have had a crazy start back. I watch " The Repair Shop" over here in New Zealand and I am always amazed at what you guys can fix. A very talented group of people. I have at times been choked up when I see the reactions from the owners. A ray of hope in such difficult times, keep it up.
Great video Dom. Beautiful cars, both at Southend and Goodwood. Surely that’s an avocadom? Loved your reaction to the wasps. You looked like you were carving the Sunday roast when you were cutting open the nest. Didn’t look very appetising though 😜😂😂
Love your videos. Congratulations on the donations for the vespa. And hope the Ranala project is a total success. Fingers crossed that people come to their senses with regards to the next BAFTA awards.
Had to watch that 3 times, so many beautiful machines! I've just spent half an hour trying to Google the silver Daimler front to work out what it was and the result, REALLY rare! 😄
@@DominicChineas you're not wrong, I went to a classic race day at Silverstone which I thought was awesome, but even the closing hour of Goodwood looked like another order of magnitude again! Maybe next year 🙂 Thanks for the great vlogs, definitely something I happily contribute to through Patreon or RUclips channel membership.
Wasps are great in the garden, but, I am not a huge fan either - nasty sting. Really when you think about it - they are just hungry - like the rest of us at the pub/picnic/plum tree and so on. Great video, love the cars, and the VW is great.
My husband was at the festival of speed on Saturday but amazingly no traffic jam then. Back for the Revival in September Covid permitting. Found the inside of the wasps nest fascinating. I also read somewhere that they are useful but can't remember why-because like you I don't like them. Had one land on my hand and didn't flick it off-thought i'd be nice and the bugger stung me anyway!
Great video Dom! The Andretti Lotus reminded me of 1985 and watching Ayrton Senna tyre testing at Brands Hatch. Carving the wasp nest reminded me of a pasty I had in the services, although it had more filling! 😅
Loved your vlog. Goodwood was fab, so jealous I have always wanted to go. The wasps nest was random. It’s true that wasps are pollinators and eat other pests so are good for gardeners. Keep up the filming… we all love it. ❤️
Hello Dom, Some nice snippets of the Festival of Speed (FoS), although it live about 20 miles from Goodwood I have never been to the FoS... Well done with the Vespa draw... Take care and have a good week. Paul,,
Oh my God! That Beetle was amazing, I’ve never seen a suspension like that. The wasps nest gave me the creeps though I disturbed one on the compost heap last year and got quite a few stings . Love your updates!
Did the festival of speed a few years back. Stood 6 ft behind a Ferrari V10 when they started it. Everyone stuffed there fingers in there ears except my nephew and me. Chest was vibrating and couldn't here for 10 mins after. Wicked. You should do the whole weekend Dom.
A V10 is the best sound. Went to a F1 race twice, i had the best time if my life, no earplugs of course. Was in 1996, just a few thousand guys and me, a girl totally in love with car racing… and i still am!!
@@simonevanschaik9224 Yep there's nothing like the sound of the V10's. My sister is also a petrol head and we've been to many F1 races over the years the last being in 2019.
Seeing all those amazing cars made me think about what's going to happen to them when the combustion engine is proscribed. We have to face it, it's going to be sooner rather than later. Convert them to EVs? Put them in a museum?
Super video this week Dom - the car show and Goodwood super cars were spectacular- Well done growing avocados, think they are quite tricky to grow. I'm not so keen on wasps either love bees though 🐝🐝 Huge congratulations on getting over the 20k on the Vespa giveaway for Alzheimer's such a worthy cause 👌😊
Wasps, the football hooligans of the insect world. A saucer of neat petrol will shift them in a day-they don't like the smell. They bugger off to annoy somebody else!
Most of the carbon parts you saw on the F1 cars at the Festival of Speed were made just 1 mile from where you film the repair shop at The Open Air Museam, we are in Charlton. Send me a PM if you would like to come and have a look at the process.
Superb vlog Dan. Goodness the paint finishes on those cars at Goodwood and did you see the English Wheel on the newspaper cutting in the restoration display😀?
Love the car shows Dom! Love seeing the crowd gather at TRS. Are those official Wasp Nest tools 13:54 used for dissection? LOL. Good thing it wasn't something you had to repair for the show.
Avocados will grow but they don't grow true to seed - all commercial produce is grown from trees propagated from cuttings. Very unlikely (10,000:1 chance) of producing edible fruit. Great vid of Goodwood!
Well done on getting into the Festival of Speed! If you're stll down there filming on 17th - 19th September, you could try for an encore at the Revival Meeting
