- I finally picked one up! I cover how I installed this OEM Yamaha quickshifter, activation and first ride. Totally worth the money and it's not as expensive as some of the other aftermarket units. The only thing you don't get is auto-blip.

if you can find one
To activate and deactivate qs mode. Use clutch shift to 2nd gear. 1. Key to off 2. Clutch to 3rd gear and hold clutch and hold shift up 3. Turn key to on if it fails repeat but my 2018 shifts this way.

I had the shop install one when I bought it, love them definitely agree. Waiting On my GPR v5 damper it’s spendy but I think it’s gonna be good insurance tho, check in to em if you got time

Had the same issue when programming quick shifter and gotta say it’s definitely the amount of pressure being pushed on the shifter i spent a whole hour rechecking my work🧐🤦♂️

Hi man, great video, used it to install mine.. My rod came off while riding at the track this past weekend, now I'm trying to find a small rod to replace it , do you mind sharing the measurements of just the small rod that came with the quickshifter..
I want to say the rod itself is about 4.5 inches.

I just installed mine and idk if it’s normal but the shifter feel got a lot stiffer than it used to be. Idk if that’s supposed to feel like, but it takes a lot more pressure to shift than it did before
It’s been a while since I’ve ridden the R6 but I don’t remember the feel being stiff. Felt the same as it did stock.
Are those pegs on the side for if you drop your bike?

Wait so how does a quick shifter work? Sorry I’m new to riding
No worries! So you operate it when you are on the throttle. You only shift into the next gear using the shifter and no clutch. The harness connects to your ECU or for others the spark plug connectors. It cuts spark for certain amount of milliseconds while shifting. Sort of allows to take a load off of the engine while shifting. That’s sort of the basics of how a quickshifter works.

I have the same bike, and the last days i felt the quickshifter different, it doesn´t works good like before, sometimes i can´t change gears , now is very harsh, it seems like it gets stuck or something.

Hey! No I’ve had mine on for a while now and it still works just fine. Have you inspected the hardware to make sure everything is tight? Also is you chain loose? I’ve heard that can affect quickshifters.
@@itsmeericb I haven't checked either of those two things, but I think the hardware is fine, at least the quickshifter icon is on, but maybe the string is the problem; A few days ago I changed tires and when removing the chain it may have been loose.

I installed this quick shifter on my bike and now it won’t start. I read that if the measurement aren’t correct and the shifter isn’t in the right spot it won’t start. I’ve check every measurement 10 times and they all seem to be right. Do you know what it could be. Could you share all of your measurements please?
That’s odd that your bike won’t start due to the quickshifter. It should start regardless. 🤔 Also I don’t have this bike anymore and made this video a long time ago so I don’t remember the measurements. I believe mine was pretty on par to what was in the instructions.

Yes they do not come with them. The dealer probably had it installed on yours.
What are the measurements on this? Can’t find anything online. Was riding today and I felt the shift rod move, nuts were loose. Having a hard time getting it adjusted correctly 🤦♂️.
They are in the instructions that come with the shifter. I can’t remember where I put mine. You might be able to ask the service department at the dealer.
I’ll have to do that. Bike came with the QS installed. I have no clue what they are supposed to be

Will this factory QS work with GP shift or would I have to buy something else for it to work with GP shift?
That is a good question and I actually don’t know if it will. I would assume that it would seeing how it’s the Yamaha OEM QS. What I mean is the manufacturer made the bike to also go onto the track, so I would think they would allow for GP shift. You may have to do a little digging just to be on the safe side.
@@itsmeericb I’ve been digging, I found GP shift for oem QS but it’s also meant for the woodcraft rearsets so idk. My QS should be getting in tomorrow sometime

For some reason I can’t seem to have the correct measurements for mine. I’ve been trying to get it right for a while and I can’t 🥲. Maybe my measurements is not correct.
How far off is it? What are you using to measure?
@@itsmeericb I’m not sure if I’m being totally Honest. I was using a ruler 📏 to measure it but I don’t think that’s the correct tool for it.

i hear a lot of people say the r6 hurts their back, what do you think?
Just depends on the person. After an hour of riding I take a break. It has an aggressive seating position for the track.
it helps you build core muscles. it's a complete work out.

As in the spline is stuck? (The top part that looks like a gear)

Yes and I watched his video! I saw a couple others and it seems to be a programming issue across the board. Just my thoughts. 🤷♂️

What replacement battery is that?
It's just a standard battery. Came in the bike when I got it. I plan to upgrade to a lithium battery soon.
