enjoyed the video Josh....great engaging content !!! Thank you for sharing!!!!
Thanks for the kind comment!
I like that you have gone to a farm so focused on pasture! Good training for when you more to the southern hemisphere 😜 have you started guessing covers of the paddock as you go to get your eye in? Love the physical data stuff, how many ton a year can you grow in that area?
Yeah I have a little guess each paddock before measuring! Some times I’m closer than others! 😂 I’d have to ask Rob or look on agrinet to see what they grew last year!
@@JMFarming I used to be good at it. Now I just eye ball how much feed I have. 🙈
To be absolutely truthful I think ‘Rampfield’ was named by Richard and Rosie, it is officially named Govers Down. Neither Mike nor I know why! Rampfield makes perfect sense though!
Well in that case I shall make sure to call it the correct name next time! 😂
As long as whatever you call it makes sense to you, that’s totally fine! Enjoying your vlogs and learning lots!
@@karensnow427 haha I suppose so! I’m very glad to hear it! ☺️
I recognise that field and road! I drive past there every time I go to Crediton. I live about three miles north of there. Those heifers are out there quite a bit of the winter from memory.
Well done for your vlogs. Keep up the good work. Dreckly!
@@newbartonbarnsweddingvenue2868 thank you very much! ☺️👌🏼
Interesting stuff. Also, this job is certainly going to get and keep you in shape!
That’s for sure!
Good to see some agritech explainer vids back Josh - keep them coming
Cheers!
Another interesting video Josh and loved hearing about the grass management and analytics, which is important in today's world where small adjustments in how the business is run can make massive improvements to yields, cow health and overall profitability. Why is it vehicle battery's always die when you least need them too 😂. Thanks
I think a faulty interior light was to blame with the battery in the end! 😬
Great video josh, those heifiers look very good. 👍
Thanks John!
Great video as always josh 👍👍👍
Thank you Sandy!
Great video Josh, as always i love your explanations of why and how things are done!! Great job
Cheers and thank you! 👍🏼
Another great video Josh that was interesting with the grass measurement and how you mange grazing One bonus in this job Its going to make you fairly fit no gym membership required 😂
Really enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next one
I won’t be going running in the evenings that’s for sure! 😂
@@JMFarming 👍
that is really interesting with the grass measurements , i love that kind of stuff , thank you
I’m glad you enjoyed it! 👍🏼
Well done Josh, great work
Thanks Toni!
Knock 10 to 15% off the grass reading for cow pats and soiled grass they won't graze to be more accurate on grass availability . The Gallagher reel is the best for strip grazing, it has the clip to hold it on the wire and uv protect plastic, so it doesn't break as easy as the cheap one's.
Yeah got to be sensible with what it tells you sometimes! 👍🏼👌🏼
Very nice heifers 👍
Thanks Paul!
Have heard a couple of times but is deferd grazing
It’s when you let the grass all go to seed and strip graze it to dry cows 🐄 ☺️
Currently doing my ‘Green Cert’ as it’s called here in Ireland i.e. trained farmer one day a month and we are covering grass measurement at the moment. Is the figure 2,500 kg/DM/Ha? as it seems very high compared to what is recommended around 1,400 to 1,600 kg/DM/Ha grass cover per paddock ready for cows to graze?
It is kg/dm/ha but i know the figures vary between us and you guys over there. Ours might give the whole grass crop instead of what’s actually available to graze
@@JMFarming interesting to see the differences! In at 10cm grass height and out at 4cm is our rule of thumb for before and after grazing paddocks.
When i was agricultural college a friend worked on a veg farm and all thefields were named after people. He asked why the manager said simple they are named after the last person to die in the field.😢
Don’t want to be a field there then! 😬
Comment for engagement
