Hey Jochen! I can't get over the growth you have already. My lilacs are just starting to get leaves let alone flower. And you do gotta love this time of year. We spent the day outside as well. Nice and sunny but only 10C. Changed over all the equipment from winter blowers to summer mowers. Even cut some grass. Your cannas look awesome. Mine (from seed) are still small. Maybe next year I'll dig up rhizomes to get a better head start. Hope you have a great week!

Hi Tammy, It all exploded within the past week and a half, I guess that the rest of the trees will have all their leaf’s out within the next week. About my Cannas, I am also amazed how much they have grown in only 4 weeks, but they also have a 6Star “resort” like place to grow, sun flooded warm room 😂, but same here as it is with you guys, sun is out but the temp, is today 7C and that is as high as it gets. Have a super week

Looking great, currently growing some from seed, bit late in the day but it won't hurt

Absolutely the great thing with Cannas is also that the foliage alone looks amazing

Might work for you, it worked for me. I put about an inch of pea gravel on the soil surface for my plant pots indoors and where you can, water from the bottom of the pot. Virtually stopped the little fly things.

I kept them inside the greenhouse this year just before the first frosts started. They are growing not as “on steroids” as yours but still. My favourite variety is Tropicana, sadly it decided not to flower last year and the year before!

That is strange that they didn't flower and yet very interesting as well, 🤔Cannas only flower once they reached their final height perhaps that was the issue? I have a lot of cannas that produce seeds, but they are not viable seeds, like the cleopatra, but most of the cannas are "man made" so you can only propagate them through devision. Also don't forget that my cannas have a sun filled room and are in the house so it is a 6star canna hotel really for them 🤣, but keep me updated about your tropicana i really like to know how it is getting on this year.

@@jochen.allardice-grein It did flower on the first year. I bought from a garden centre in bloom. According to a few articles that I read, it comes down to feeding them properly - on my opinion , that’s unlikely because I do that once a week on a growing season. I might change the pot that is in - it’s terracota but some plants like plastic just to make my life harder. Next time I decide to go to a garden centre to be abused ( that’s another story) I’m going to ask someone about it!

@wr2007st I am the worst when it comes to feeding my plants, I dump them In pot and let them get on with it, I water during the summer every day but if I feed them twice a year it would be a lot. I am really bad with that and mine flower all season long
