As an preacher of the breaker life yasss! Now... it can work against you on broken parts also. Just have to be very precise and mindfull of the blast symbols.
Getting a Grade 10 Elder Dragon weapon is so much more difficult than let's say a Pukei S&S. You can also already Driftsmelt for max poison attack with some status sneak if you want to go full status. You *could* do that with Blast and it would probably be stronger, but between farming all the Teo parts and the new time-limited driftstones, best of luck lol.
That being said; Use whatever weapon you have the most fun with. People who want max dps meta builds will use whatever it is, which will almost certainly always be elemental sets.
Yep teo weapos will be difficult to farm haha! Being stuck in EDIs is a pain but im glad that it feels very powerful. The blast attack driftskill is very optional and doesn't provide as much value when you already have lvl3 blastpowder haha!
Wouldnt the poison proc faster if you had a weapon with more poison? I believe Pink Rathian was highest raw, and lowest poison, compared to regular Rathian, and Pukei, what the test be different if he used one of the other ones?
It probably could be the monster could also die before the 2nd poison status finish ticking down. We found that monster tend to have high poison thresholds
Also blast dmg is "direct part DmG" like bombs/shells. The dmg is Instant whereas you have to wait 10 seconds then you can build up. I've loved blast especially on heavy weapons. That'd like getting hit by bulldozer then having a random blast hit ya. The bigger the hit with much more disregard to dmg2part defensive modifiers the better your odds of that blast building up the most break dmg as well as that stagger/flinch you get from soft breaks at times from big hits. It's very nice. Wife and I be playing with it out the gate it slaps on a team vs 8☆ Monsters
What's even more insane is that if 4 people use blast weapons not only does the blast trigger incredibly more often, but you also get the hunter's bond ability which increases the overall damage. This weapon is insane, especially if you want to farm Daora
I don't think it's a fair comparison. S&S and LS are completely different and will proc status at different rates. It would be much more helpful if you compared the same weapon type
@4:10-4:15 agreed. I run sneak status with 1 teo piece and b.diablos helm and run havoc with that ONLY if there's breakable/severable parts. Otherwise I keep the Teo legs and b.dibble helm with rest diablos that also has wex with it on arms and heroics for extra breakage XD. That's the build I cherish when no breakable back side. This build also assist in building up dmg in back. Which a back step can snag. HEROICS IS ANOTHER THING..... diablos gloves have 2 points G6+ with 1 breaker and I've got wex. I've also done with luna helm with wex from it for Shiggles. XD. Latent synergies soo well due o the fact that once you have given monster that ailment immunity it takes exponentially longer after each trigger. By time its fallen off you have latent....as well as heroics. It's actually beefed up for a raw weapon especially when paired wi5h other dragon weapons. Cool builds to you and Sky!
Great point about latent giving you a boost later in the game when monster already has high resistance to blast haha! Id just prefer it to proc earlier 😂 Thanks for sharing your thoughts man!
good to know! ive been having a lot of fun with teostra due to how much more comfortable his hunt is compared to kushala daora and because of consistently good drops. when im done with my elemental weapons and got the money im definitely gonna start making a blast build for fun.
Hi Pauwer, with regards to the status build up, I believe the support article you referred to is talking about not having the same status run twice concurrently even if you managed to proc the first cycle first and then quickly reach the threshold for the next cycle before the first cycle ends. The patch notes specifically mentioned this problem previously when they started fixing the issue with status build-ups, and the Support Article you referred to was an excerpt from those patch notes. Therefore, poison will still build up while the poison is running its course. It will just wait for the current cycle to end before starting the next poison cycle if you managed to reach the next poison threshold before the current cycle ends. Same thing as Blast-If you managed to build up enough Blast element to proc twice within a single salvo from the Teostra Bow Spread 4 shot, the second Blast will occur shortly after the first Blast has occurred, depending on your latency with the server.
True, but if you compare the amount of threshold and the damage the respective statuses do, it's not exactly a fair comparison when the thresholds themselves are different. Not that I disagree that Blast is better, but I don't think this is a fair comparison for two mechanisms that are meant to work differently but in a balanced way, where one is slower but in a bigger chunk, while the other is faster but in smaller chunks. Nonetheless, I think it would be good to bring both poison and blast into a group hunt if body count is priority: you'll be attacking two separate thresholds instead of one, reaping the benefits of both, while still being able to use blast to target the R6 parts before the kill. I already have my Pukei Bow, and I'm building up the Teostra Bow to complement and switch around depending on party composition and monster.
@stampeder7365 very true. If the monster is weak to both poison and blast it's not a bad idea to bring both. The purpose of my video was to showcase the power of teostra weapons with high raw and high blast status :)
@PauwerPlays yeah since spamming pierce with blastpowder 3 and SSA 3 builds blast front and back so it procs it faster, sure individual arrows don't do much damage like that, but since it procs blast so fast, it covers for the damage

I hold 8 ds B in bag when I get a 9th I use insta smelt I bought 50 of the instasmelt pack had 5 before the event and now I'm left with 35 instasmelts left. So 3 BA from 20 smelts combined walking + insta. I also stack up to 100 dshards to exchange for limited ds B 5km stone during event for a better chance of 33% instead of 3.3%
With 8.2 Rathian LS (which has more poison than PRath), and status sneak attack 4 I managed to poison a 9 star Tobi 3 times, which dealed 54% of his HP. The build: CPP / Tzitzi / Tzitzi / Tzitzi / Barioth, which could poison consistantly 3 times with Nightshade Paolumu boots.
just wanted to note that you took rathian waist for burst but teo waist has burst too, which would open up legs or helmet for a better item choice. You also compared a poison weapon with only 250 poison vs blasts 360. That 110 poison was probably the difference between poison proccing once and twice which would have put the two at about even. not only that but you compared longsword to sns which is way better at applying status. I love the formatting and content of your videos but if you are going to be an informative channel you should try to make your tests more accurate.
Lance for sure. Plus you can keep up with dash and build up blast fastest on the back/tail that's breakable not severable. If severable when I see the symbol get the BOLDEST then it put follow up hits say on back I use gyro soo it happens fast transitioning from tail to back. You can hold screen while dashing to transition to a block. If you get shoved back from heavy guard from heavy attack you swipe in the direction you want to side step triple poke into. Lance is SO STRONG TOO especially with fact it's Raw and it gets heroics. Let me tell you... heroics is easy to trigger/recover from especially if you get your timed counter blocks down.
You can also swipe left ,right and up to further the amount of pokes/dashing you produce which is probably faster way from back side to trigger status.
The test in not correct since the poison weapon used status sneak attack and the blast one did not. if you want a better comparisson they should both use sneak attack or the poison weapon should have poison abilities?
Yep the test is not perfect. We just used what we had available to showcase both poison and blast. To really compare the status we gotta have another poison weapon with the same stats as teo weapons.

You would rarely block with the sns. I only use the shield to block against roars. Imo it depends on your playstyle but i wouldn't recommend blocking with the sns or using guard.
You will be spamming dashes and if you spam dash with lance then hands down you ought to try it with gyroscope. It opens the positioning up for lance during the ending and mid phase of dashing.

Chamelos has to come as the next Elder. It's always them Trio. Chamelos---->Kushla---->Teostra---->Chamelos. Comes full circle. Fighting the Teostra has been a pain. Trying to get my Gloves from him and getting it to Grade 8. My Gunlance set is gonna be nuts when I get it up. Been lucky on the Horn Drops. 2/3 atm. 4th 8* fight. Just missing the 6 Tails, 1 horn and buncha scales.
I wouldnt really recommend the teos cb for blast. The cb doesnt apply status that well. But if youre going for it, you can equip artillery 4 using basarios armor and the new teo vambraces
What about blast VS elemental build? Is there a monster only weak to blast but not elemental? If I have all the elemental build is it necessary to do the blast build?
I wouldnt rely on getting blast attack from the limited time driftstone. You also lose out on a lot of damage when equipping status sneak. I could work in multiplayer hunts and you support the team with blast damage. But solo you might have a hard time

Why go for rathian waist with burst 1 when the teostra waist also have burst 1 at grade 8 then add the Zinogre legs and then you have total burst at grade 4🤷🏻♂️
CB isnt really great for applying status. If your running impact phails you can added artillery 4 to your build using basarios pieces and the new teo vambraces
Hunter unity, also not even grade 8 weapon so yeah blast its reeally good and you dont even need teo armor, just status sneak attack+ sneak attack, at least on multiplayer, solos i would go teo+crit armor build if long sword and teo+burst if sns
Mainly because teo waist will be a pain to upgrade and you need mats to upgrade your teo weapon as well. Maybe for the later game when you have enough teo mats
That's decent. I found getting focus 3 and one piece from the Teo set (legs for me) with some sneak status 7-9 ish I think. Wife uses the bow and she don't count those lol. I do the sns and when paired it's nuts seeing 10-12 explosions. Then it caps and stops doing it soo frequently too around say about 8 ish it slows 12 ish area it tends to cap. That's just on a team of two players though
If I were you I'd make a few builds with that g.s One for solo. The other with sneak status/focus. Try also using one piece from teostra armor. Maybe legs or whatever you fancy
You can swap the armor pieces around for the pink rath vambraces and waist for more crit eye but according to mhn.quest you get less dps compared to burst set
I'm enjoying status sneak attack lv 4, testra greaves for 1 point in blast powder, and also was lucky to get lv4 blast attack, working on that last point but still a really fun build for multiplayer, playing solo doesn't do much tbh.
Another good thing about blast is that it helps to break parts too while poison does not help with breaking part :)

this with parts breaking skills helps alot - note, that the more damage you do, the more blastblight you inflict to the monster, so crits might help.

Sometimes I just like to spam click my blast bow and I get 9-10-11 blast procs per hunt 😂 Blast is so awesome

You can spam the running charge and have at least one point of guard to get the knock back triple poke follow up for fast blast build up :)

All monsters have elemental weaknesses. Not necessary to craft blast but it is very strong haha!
why not status sneak att and blast attack from stones? because the drift slots are alot easier to unlock on the status sneak attack armour (tzitzi)

The other with sneak status/focus. Try also using one piece from teostra armor. Maybe legs or whatever you fancy

No. Only status value of your blast weapon

Why burst ? Can build affinity?
You can swap the armor pieces around for the pink rath vambraces and waist for more crit eye but according to mhn.quest you get less dps compared to burst set
Is it better to use blast or to use the element the monster is weak to?

I'm enjoying status sneak attack lv 4, testra greaves for 1 point in blast powder, and also was lucky to get lv4 blast attack, working on that last point but still a really fun build for multiplayer, playing solo doesn't do much tbh.
