This song has special meaning to me. When I was 18, I fell in love with a girl in my neighborhood, she was/is two years younger than me. We saw each other everyday till she had to move away because her father was in the military and her family moved every 3- 4 years. Two months after she moved I visited her in her new home over a Thanksgiving weekend. When it was time for me to leave we had sad and tearful “goodbye”. When I got on the plane, I cried and could see her in the terminal window, crying as well. Her name is Lisa. We never saw each other again in person. But alas, we are friends of FB. I am happily married and have been for 46 years. But I will always have a special place in my heart for Lisa!

Saw him Live in 1974 Madison Square Garden it was sold out and you could hear a pin drop when he did this song . His voice still sounds amazing. Glad to see he’s revisiting his Cat Steven’s Days and performing for all of us .

when i was young i was visiting a small pace in the eifel (germany)and had a small adventure with a girl named lisa and the next day i was hitchiking back to the netherands and the first car who take me had this on his radio and since that time i like this song .
Cat Stevens is right up there with the very best.
He is without doubt one of the finest singer songwriters of the last 50 years.
His talent has never left him, and he makes very intricate songs like this look so easy to perform live.
One of my all time favourite artists.

This was one of my essential teen songs in the 80s. I played it over and over and over on my record player, just soaking in it. It's part of my fabric.
Same with me, but in the early to mid seventies. Tea for the Tillerman, Teaser and the Firecat, and Catch Bull at Four changed my DNA.
i remember the first time I heard this sound back in circa 1970 and being so moved by it. The violin part in the middle is so beautiful. I listened to the entire album twice it was so incredible.
The violin/cello bridge in the middle is one of my favorite parts in the song, too. But the lyrics are also very powerful and the music so poignant… everything is beautiful and sad and heartbreaking in Sad Lisa.

Ahhh Sad Iisa..one of the most haunting songs I ever heard .. apparently "Lisa" was once a "Friend" who Cat knew... I wonder who she was? And to have this most Beautiful song written about her, I Love this song so VERY MUCH. .Thank you 🐈/Yusuf for a Beautiful haunting song.

I broke in pieces when I heard this a few days ago , re recorded in 2020. He has something from out of this world .
I once read that he portraited himself as a suffering woman like the 'Mona Lisa", Lisa refers to that painting..

I love this song!!! I’ve loved it since I first heard it as a young child. It calls to my sadness, my loneliness and my profoundly hurt soul.
Lovely in this slower, more thoughtful version. The slower version allows the accomplishment it deserves.
Similar, but I think it benefits from the simplicity of having only his keyboard and the guitar at the bridge (where the violin is on the album version).
I have listened to Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat for fifty years. His music is also close by whether on vinyl, cd, or usb. Thank you Yusuf for your music.
